It's the last post on page 2. I figure that it'd clear up some confusion. I've added that to the OP. Wait? Pre-ordering automatically means you get beta? It does! Isn't it sweet? For like the 5 of us who aren't in the beta yet. ;__; I'm actually not in beta because i didn't have an active account in top 20% of the HOTS ladder when they gave those people beta. Aside from that.. they basically stopped doing invite waves? I didn't really see any chat about it. Glad to have a buy-in option with pre-order - £30 is a good price for all of sc2 and i'd rather the deluxe edition be ~20-35% more, but 1.5x the price (£45) is still alright considering i'd use the sc2 skin and probably eventually the heroes of the storm mount I'm definitely not in the top 20% and still got invited. Invites are still going out! Cool, just not to me then They said it was influenced by your HOTS activity, but i have not played HOTS seriously for a long time now Show nested quote +i figured LotV would be $60 USD because its a stand alone product.
they did this giant long beta and are only asking $40 USD, and its not an expansion that requires a different purchase.... ATVI is going to make fuck all on this. this makes it even easier for them to push aside Starcraft and RTS like it doesn't exist.
if the retail box copy is also $40 USD then just wow. my how the RTS genre has fallen. u get onto the ladder and a campaign for just $40. And here is a perfect example that people will complain about literally anything. Lower price is good for population, an rts that's alive for 5 more years instead of just 2 is one that will make more money I haven't played HotS in a while, my invite brought me back!

Does Archon mode already has proper matchmaking/ / ladder? If it does,I could probably convince my usual 2on2 partner to pre-order, so we can finally play the beta as one.
then again, blizzard will probably give out more beta invites anyway, when they've already opened the flood gates via preordering, so I predict that we should probably get into it anyway in a month or two.

I'll wait for the collector's edition

Darn, I feel like I might actually pre-order this. It's probably worth the money to play through the campaign and maybe I'll feel like playing the ladder after having quit for 4 years... Although I'm not sure how LotV is looking for Zerg.

I'm gonna wait for more patches and for me to get into the beta before buying this I think. Doesn't make any sense to buy into a game without having played it personally. Hopefully it is a lot more fun than HotS, but only time will tell. Then again I felt like HotS was more fun than WoL...

Looks pretty good i think. I have not really kept on top of it recently (nobody is ever streaming aaaaaaah!!!) but last i saw, protoss seemed to be the weakest by far

It's still an expansion, to a 5+ years old game as well (will be closer to 6 if they won't release it until next year). I know it's Blizzard and stuff, but even 40$ is too much for that. Graphics is dated, engine itself is terrible (jokes on Blizz for using it for their moba too). Would consider buying it for 20$ maybe, although I have no interested in playing ladder/mp anymore. So yeah, only interested in campaign and HS cardback so far. Probably won't buy it at all.
Even though I think you are trying to troll people you do make good points. It really does not bring anything new to the table. The game play is basically repetitive where you build bases over and over and then attack something.
The graphics are really dated. Compared to other games that have good resolutions, lotv lags behind. I do not think that blizzard will reconsider the price but it is too high. I think 20 to 25 dollars is good for an expansion.

You just defined an entire genre of games- Real Time Strategy. That's the point of the game, not a redundant, boring drawback to it. No one expected SC2:LotV to be a MOBA or FPS.

As far as i've seen there is no ranked ladder for any mode yet in beta, but hopefully it will come eventually.

this is the last installment , I want a physical collector edition !!!

Is the single player part of LotV like Starcraft 1 & WoL (where you play a more traditional starcraft game) or is it more like the single player for Heart of the Swarm?

I love SC2 because it doesn't crap out my computer. 4v4's sometimes crap out my college laptop when everyone maxes out, but I don't need amazing graphics on a game where half the units are less than a centimeter tall.

You only have to first pre-purchase the standard edition of LotV (40€). Then, you can upgrade to the complete deluxe editions (with all dem goodies) for 40€ more.
Yep, I'm a sucker ;D.

Heart of the Swarm becomes a stand-alone product today.
http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/19817454/legacy-of-the-void™-now-available-for-pre-purchase-7-15-2015
"For players who haven’t yet played the first StarCraft II expansion, Heart of the Swarm, it just became a little easier to stage a zerg rush. Starting today, the original StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is no longer required to play Heart of the Swarm—making this the perfect time to catch up on Kerrigan’s story and command a host of additional multiplayer units for all three factions."
I guess this makes it easier for stores to unload what remaining boxes are still sitting on their shelves. A smart and subtle tactic.

I bought two copies (me and wife) just so we can play together. We were playing the custom mod before it hasn't kept up (which makes sense given Blizzard was opening the pre-orders soon).
Also looking forward to archon mode. Unfair advantage I guess since we are in the same room.
