The qualifiers for GSL Code S were held in Seoul today. As previously announced, Season 1 of GSL in 2015 will not have a Code A. Instead, the qualifiers lead directly into Code S. However, Season 2 onwards will follow the familiar format. Here's the complete list of qualified players:
Protoss:
Dear First herO MC Panic PartinG Rain San Seed Super Terminator YongHwa
Terran:
Bomber Dream FanTaSy Hack GuMiho Heart INnoVation MarineKing Maru MMA TaeJa TY YoDa
Zerg:
Curious Dark Life PenguiN Rogue Solar Soulkey
After the decision to restart Code S from scratch, there were many questions regarding the possible outcome of such a chaotic reshuffling of Korea's premier Starcraft 2 competition. Surprisingly, the first season of 2015 Code S will be one of the most diverse we have ever had. Only 3 teams will have 3 or more players in Code S this season: SKT T1, Jin Air Green Wings, and a revitalized MVP. 15 other teams will be represented this season, a record breaking turn out.
However, there were also many notable casualties, including one of the most lauded players of 2014: KT's Zest. His inability to qualify for GSL nor SSL means that he will only be able to compete in Proleague and foreign events for the start of the year. 2014's perennial runner-up soO also misses out on both tournaments, ensuring that his streak of second place finishes in GSL ends at 4. Other important drop outs include Flash, sKyHigh, DongRaeGu, Classic, sOs, Bbyong and Stats.
Another surprising result of the qualifiers was the high success rate of former WCS AM and WCS EU participants. TaeJa, Seed and Bomber both reached Code S after leaving for America, while First, MC, San, MMA, YoDa, and Heart dominated most of their brackets in order to make it back to Code S. Many observers predicted them to have a difficult time upon their return to their homeland, but "Koreigners" as they have been derisively called will make up 1/4 of Code S this season.
The inaugural season of 2015 will feel almost like a retro-Code S due to the names that were able to qualify, and it will be interesting to see whether the big performers of 2014 that were knocked out in Code B will be able to retake their spots as the year progresses.

Some of these are pretty surprising, especially in the afternoon session. I'm disappointed that soO, HerO and DRG all barely missed out on qualifying.

SC2 now looks more balanced than ever before. And I don't mean this in a bad way.

I hope Taeja doesn't quit before winning it big in Korea, he deserves it

So both Korean leagues are doing it the same nonsensical way? One day to qualify, if you fail, you are out for a big part of the year....
This is just wrong. This deserves to be a series of small tournaments, with some small prizes, casting, coverage, and all that, spread over some time, to give exposure to those players who do not qualify for the main tourney.

No soO. Zest, Shine, Jjakji, KeeN, DRG, HerO, sOs, Flash, Cure, Symbol or Bbyong... wow. Didn't expect so many kinda good, consistent (depends on the player) players not to make it through.
Happy for the underdogs like Rogue, Seed, Heart, Penguin, YongHwa, Super, Curious, San, Terminator, Dream, Panic and Hack though
A little light on the zerg side but overall alright i would say

Well, he said "better fail than 2nd". After that his results...

I'm a little confused as to whether there is going to be a Code A this season. It looks like Flash, soO, and Zest aren't going to playing at all in this season's GSL. Am I wrong?

Where is JD? Apparently going to play in the AM/EU WCS thing because he hates challenge/rivalry/intrigue
Or he just likes winning
