I am wondering how hellion/cyclone matches up to the equivalents
It look s like 1 cyclone beats 1 stalker but blink stalkers might beat them? of course numbers matter.

Also does the disrupter cause friendly fire and how many fit inside a warp prism. For example 1 disrupter and 2 sentries although I am guessing it will be gas heavy.

A new mineral heavy unit could be useful for protoss but not sure what that could be.

I feel like Protoss is in the same boat as Terran was at the release of HotS: basically the same as the previous expansion... Also, I believe there are some fundamental things that need to be addressed as long as blizz has their radical-change pencil out. There's no good reason why T should continue to be the only race that has to deal with friendly damage... :/ but I'm glad they're shaking things up! We'll have to wait to see where all the pieces fall!

Seems cool/ I like the cyclone it seems like it will fill the role of a Goliath for mech Terran finally a small mobile mech unit that can deal with mid range units and air. I think the economy change will be interesting it means players can start building units allot sooner which may improve the pace of the game and let people be much more aggressive. I know alot of people will whine about it but I'm in favor of it. For most pro games you can just ff for 2 minutes I like the fact that they are being bold and making bold changes.

Also people quite whining Bliz gives us radical changes that will reshape the game and what do we as a community do? We whine on the forums?

Appreciate the fact that they are willing to really try to fix the game and improve variety. Also they fulfilled so many community request. Changes to warpins, a way to deal with force fields, more viable mech. Just be happy = ) .

Toss got the most out of HoTS without a doubt. I understand they are trying to do the best, but I think they have to do more love to the Protoss in His expo. Terran and Zerg seems not so powerfull than Protoss at the early beta of HotS. And they change toss.

Maybe a cool and Powerfull new unit.

If we see, Toss get nerfed at Nexus Photon overcharge, that only attacks ground units now. By now.
Tempest has not been nerfed, but i like that she works before, Tempest really are a imponent ship.
Maybe even Immortal have been nerfed. Before, we can tank a planetary fortress. Now I think we will need more immortals to do that.

AND, not buff another protoss units but buff Terran units and Zerg units it's like a Protoss nerf.

But like I said, the game will be balanced with time, for sure. But now looks like IMBA.


The big problem for me is that there's little to be added for Protoss. They have great harrassment with warp prism and great air units, great power units like the colossi/immortal/tempest, great micro opportunities with multiple spellcasters, great strategic possibilities overall. Adding to that could easily make the race way too good.

For Zerg and Terran, strategies are much more boring and the new units could change that by a lot!



But now Tempest will not attack air units, it will have a air attack but is a dot and not splash damage. I mean, the unit will continue at the battleground until his death, but will do damage in the meantime. By air toss are in trouble. Carriers are very expensive unit. I think this changes at carriers are not so good that seems.

Well, again, the game will change for sure, its a few news yet. But what I' saying is the toss needs more love

I think the Disruptor should deal friendly damage. With an AoE unit like that I feel like friendly fire would force the Protoss to control the unit more.

I still think this could have been accomplished by redesigning the Thor. Right now the Thor is an unmicroable slow unit, and it has two modes. Why not just buff its mobility a bit and create more focus on its transformation mechanics? What if you had to transform back and fourth between the two modes durin an engagmeent in order to optimize your play?

I think this could be really fun and I think the Cyclone has a huge overlop with other terarn units. I don't see how this has any unique role at all.

I believe so, I don't know if they'll bother to patch HOTS until LOTV. Similar to the era of WinfesterBroodlord, where they waited until HOTS to nerf it instead of patching it out in WOL.

I think Blizzard was trying to make the game easier to watch for newer players by making units with more micro potential, eg; Herc, dissruptor, siege tanks, ravenger, etc.

I think they've reworked a lot of our units, pretty substantially ... the oracle is basically a new unit. The immortal is seeing major changes. The photon overcharge hits ground only the warp in changes, protoss has seen a huge change. HUGE. I wouldn't be surprised to see even more in the coming months.

Would I like a new unit? Yes.

Have they basically just added a unit and done nothing for else for us? Far from it.

From the current information about Lotv changes, I think Protoss are going to be in for a world of hurt. I like the eco changes, but this will require players to expand to more bases more often. Protoss has the least mobile army that also happens to generally fair the worst when split up into many chunks. Hots addressed this weakness with band-aids (the mothership core's photon overcharge and recall, and competitive maps having accessible expo's / 3rd's with decent choke points/ramps etc). Increase the basecount from 3 to like 5 or more, and suddenly the mothership core can no longer act as the band-aid for defense against multi-pronged harass (overcharging a base against harass while the rest of the army fends off a second force....... recall one army to bases under attack instead of pre-splitting across many bases, due to such an army being substantially weaker when split up).

Like Hots beta, I'm sure a lot of these proposed Lotv changes will be looked at and tweaked. I like that blizzard is aiming to make some big changes in their final installment, but unless they are willing to take the extra step and fully commit to the changes (which will no doubt require even more fundamental game design modifications), I fear they will simply discover that certain things like the economy rehash won't fly balance wise, and end up scrapping them.

But, it does require player input. You can clearly see that it doesn't automatically target anything with it's moving shot ability. The only time we saw it open fire after it's target became invalid was when it was stationary, and with a much slower rate of fire. This really screams to me that moving shot is an activated ability like seeker missiles.

In agreement with Jinro. It's not really moving shot if the unit has to stop and "lock on" to a target every single time before it can move-shoot.

My bets is the cyclone's attack is an ability or a weapon that shoots automatically once it is "locked on" -- without requiring further player input. The Cyclone will continue shooting either until the target is dead or is out of range. Once that happens, the cyclone has to stop, lock on to a new target, and can then start "move-shooting" again once it is locked on to a new target.

It's a cheap Blizzard™ way of doing moving shot.
