I see the levels of backlash being pretty unrelated to gender tbh and more to do with a sense of nerd elitism and defending their own arbitrary ideals of what you should have when entering the scene. alright then clutch going to nasl or w.e. that thread was. I wish there was that relation but there is a reason that girl has been said ~40 times in this thread. and we had comments talking about how they can't take women seriously. everyone has different reasons and opinions of course. too many of those (i.e. > 0) are applied to entire genders unfortunately.

in addition to what was said about lauren playing a tonne on stream there's probably at least 100 women that have a good understanding and play in diamond and masters....

Sorry for not knowing names, I dont keep up with SC2 scene that much anymore.
Its not that I dont like the girls, or that I think they are not capable of doings their job, but they always feel out of place in eSports. Every time they ask questions to the players in interviews... the questions feel very, very generic. Every time they try to hype something, it feels artificial... em... ofc this is my view on it. That beeing said, They do look better than every caster out there so.... there's that :D.
Interviews in SC2 are hilariously bad regardless of the gender of the person asking the question. Problem is progamers don't give good interviews and it limits what can be asked. Some of it is language barrier, some is just they have trouble with more than 1 word ansers for whatever reason. Kind of unfair singling out the female interviewers in my opinion. You can have a male interviewer ask Jaedong if he likes hamburgers in an interview and it would be all fine. A female interviewer asks if he felt confident with his preperation for the tournament or any number of other things and all of a sudden people are like "interviewer was only hired for their looks".
You bring up a very strong point. Cant argue with that.

How many of those have the personality and inclination to stand on stage in a skimpy dress and smile incessantly and generally be a hostess though? It takes a combination of attributes, game knowledge by itself is not enough.

Someone retires or returns to the scene always get a post here. Who she is or does, doesn't matter for you are basically arguing that 90% of such posts are not newsworthy.

This isn't entirely true. A good journalist and interview can get answers out of progamers - look at hotbid and Kaci Atchison.

Which has loads of built in sexism.

This is super awesome. I loved her antics before, and I will again. Woohoo!

Great news! Her energy and presentation skills really adds a lot to the older NASL casts.

I don't think she should be allowed to do this. Girls don't poop. People who don't poop can't be trusted.

I really don't think what she did qualifies as porn.
Pornography: writings, pictures, films, etc, designed to stimulate sexual excitement
Actually, I guess it does. But I don't really care.

Regardless of it was there really isn't a reason to bring it up. It has little to do with her current job (or starcraft) nor was it illegal for her to do whatever she did. Now if she was a drunk driver that killed 62 orphans and stole a fire truck, that might be a strong point to make in how this can hurt the image of E-sports. She isn't those things so as far as I'm concerned she is someone who is interested in SC2 and I hope she does a great job.

The more attention for Starcraft the better. She should stream or something, just to learn more about the game - someone like this could bring in 1,000 viewers easy even if in silver.
GL!

GL!
She did stream quite a bit but hasn't done much streaming recently.
Think she was focused on acting.
