Hmm, there are few girls I can take seriously in sc2 scene. Obviously im not talking about well established gamers or commentators like scarlett, livebee, or that girl that Root recruited some time ago, and Soe.. i think, the one that drew so well.
Sorry for not knowing names, I dont keep up with SC2 scene that much anymore.
Its not that I dont like the girls, or that I think they are not capable of doings their job, but they always feel out of place in eSports. Every time they ask questions to the players in interviews... the questions feel very, very generic. Every time they try to hype something, it feels artificial... em... ofc this is my view on it. That beeing said, They do look better than every caster out there so.... there's that :D.

the reason it seems that way is because organizations have an incentive to put pretty faces on camera to get the young male audience talking and watching. so your complaint should not be directed at "girls in the scene" but at the marketing strategy of favoring aesthetics over substance. the girls you "can't take seriously" are just people taking jobs like anyone else

That girl in ROOT is ZombieGrub i think. Casted WCS and was known in BW i think (dunno why but i'm sure i have saw her name pop when i played icCup back then). Or maybe that's MsSpyte ?
And even when casters asks question to players it's very generic They are not eSport commentators but hosts. Hosts ask and say generic thing : "Next game, sponsors shoutout". And sometimes they drop stuff on the ground :p

Spyte was recruited by ROOT. I don't think ZombieGrub is part of ROOT, but I might be wrong. However, Spyte is a player, not a commentator/host.

Yeah Spyte. Yep i know she is a gamer.
Brickrd, I dont take them seriously because even if they are there because of their pretty face, that does not stop them from being good commentators or learning more about the game/scene. Yes, you are right that the marketing system is the one that chooses that strategy, but Ive met many great looking girls who archived a lot by working hard. Those, I take seriously.
Thats kinda what i mean, that no one expects them to do better, and I love when they prove everyone wrong. Sadly, does not happen that often.

Interviews in SC2 are hilariously bad regardless of the gender of the person asking the question. Problem is progamers don't give good interviews and it limits what can be asked. Some of it is language barrier, some is just they have trouble with more than 1 word ansers for whatever reason. Kind of unfair singling out the female interviewers in my opinion. You can have a male interviewer ask Jaedong if he likes hamburgers in an interview and it would be all fine. A female interviewer asks if he felt confident with his preperation for the tournament or any number of other things and all of a sudden people are like "interviewer was only hired for their looks".

you mentioned pretty much every woman in the scene in the list of women you accept tho, except maybe ones no one would doubt their knowledge like lilsusie or smix. who are you talking about?
