I am not that excited. Why ? Because most of those players mainly play SC2 HOTS and not Starbow. This tournament should invite players who did good results in ESL starbow cups (finalists, semi...), even if they are not known as progamers. I am pretty sure this will happen : Player A :"oh, didnt know it was like that", Player B "lol, me neither"
Beastyqt, TT1, Sasquatch all have decent Starbow experience. I don't know about the Koreans, but I thought that Crank practiced a fair amount, yet still lost out to Impact & Innovation in the Axiom Starbow tournament. I do agree that it would be nice to have a few more people that have not only dabbled in Starbow, but that have a lot more competitive experience with the game. I suspect Hider & Foxxan aren't on the level of Innovation in Starbow simply due to mechanics, but I think it would be nice to give people like them a chance in the invitational because they might come up with clever strategies which might lead to fun games.
I think it's extremely valuable to have absolute bleeding-edge top-tier players like Innovation in a StarBow tournament. For we who play, it's going to be great to see what players like that come up with, and for we who hope to see StarBow grow into a stable scene, having a name like Innovation in a tournament is going to draw eyes and new players.

Totally agree with this. For the random sc2 viewer, if they click the tourney link and see innovation or any of the other popular players, they're way more likely to stick around and watch than if they saw some unknown player. We need more viewers now which is what players like innovation will bring, and if the lesser known players playing in the ESL tournaments end up actually being better at starbow in the long run, they'll become the popular players over time. Also, I really hope we get a well known caster like Totalbiscuit to handle the invitational - not to say I'm not thankful for the lesser known casters for what they've done so far, but starbow needs more exposure that only the more popular casters can bring IMO.

I'm using one of Impact's ZvT builds which he used in Axiom tournament and I can confirm that it's actually well thought-through and rapes terrans. and he still lost to inno decisively

Cost me a PvT because i wasn't use to watching out for them since they died so quickly. But I do much like how I actually can use them to mine drag now.
Still wish you could do full BW style where even after it "launches" you could still shoot it to disarm it as opposed to you have like 5 seconds to shoot it and then its perm attacking your unit.

Dallan Christensen, the leading designer of SCBW, once said that those simple rules are what made SC BW a great and stable game. The game is like a ecosystem or a society, in which the physical rules/ human laws are critical for the sustainability & stability of the whole system. Just like a country built based on laws/constitutions is more sustainable than a dictatorships regime where decisions are usually made randomly depending on the ruler's desire.
Keep the good work going!
Thats interesting. Where did u read that?
BTW: Have you looked at the banshee? Strong air-to-ground but with no AA. Thought?

Yes the tourney did have ~1500 viewers without anyone well known playing and no prize pool . . . obviously people are enjoying watching it.
Hopefully a big tournament will happen soon (larger prize pool).

You're right, I was thinking of some other starbow event where crank lost, sorry.
