After a long and arduous 2013 filled with amazing games, team turmoil, and a reasonably successful WCS, the year is beginning to wind down as we approach December. We’ve often shown our appreciation—and sometimes, our hate too—to all the Pros, Casters, and Contributors that make this game amazing, but TL.net would not be complete without its community. We all spend an inordinate amount of time hanging out on TL, and there must be a reason. Not only do we all love SC2, but most of us are pretty awesome dudes too. We already know who the best player (sOs, duh), caster (Artosis, obvs), translator (CHOOOOOOOOOBRA), and host (ReDEyE!) in the world are, so now it’s time for us to determine the most awesome bro (or sis) on the TL SC2 fora.
Welcome to lichter’s Team Liquid Community Member Awesomeness Tournament (L'sTLCMAT from now on), where we determine our favorite TL.net SC2 community member!
PS this is a popularity contest not an sc2 contest
Rules This is a popularity contest, so the community will be voting. It is super objective in figuring out who’s the best of the best, just like Blizzcon. I will be using TL Polls, because dammit this is a TL contest. I’m pretty sure there are no ways to cheat in TL Polls so I guess that’s the only rule we need, right?
Also I’m running this so all the arbitrary but fair rules I make up as we go must be followed.
If you want to spread propaganda, have grudgematches, write articles, go on banning sprees, or translate articles to raise your profile, go ahead! No bribes though, that is super not cool.
Please read again: No one actually plays SC2 anymore so no one will actually play. We are voting who we like the best.
Nomination Rules Community members must be nominated into the tournament. Technically, anyone can be nominated, but we’re here to show a bit of appreciation for our favorite community members and have some fun, so hopefully we get serious nominations for people who actually do something for the community.
Because this is for the community, we are excluding Pros, Casters, and famous people like Slasher or people from GOM. Waxangel, you aren't popular enough yet so you're still in this.
As a form of seeding, some community members need less nominations in order to join the main tournament.
Reds (Admin) - 2 Nominations Blues (Writers, Calendar Staff, Translators, Banlings, etc) - 3 Nominations Non Staff Contributors (People who do LR threads a lot, or translate, or do Live Reports, etc) - 4 Nominations Forum Users (basically everyone else) - 5 Nominations
Each user can only nominate a maximum of 3 people. If you nominate more than that I won't count the last one.
This thread will serve as the Nomination Thread, and nominations will end on Saturday, Nov 30 4:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). First 64 to get nominated into the tournament are in. If we don't get to 64, I either pick those who had the most noms among those who didn't make it or we just have byes. Lame.
Format The tournament will follow a GSL format, but expanded into 64 players. There will be three (instead of two) group stages using the GSL format. The Ro8 onwards will be knockout rounds.
Ro64 – GSL Style Groups Ro32 – GSL Style Groups Ro16 – GSL Style Groups Ro8 – Knockouts Ro4 – Knockouts Finals / Third Place Match – Knockouts, obviously
Seeding and Group Selections Since there is basically no way to objectively seed the players into groups, and everyone will get mad at me if we get a Ro64 Group of Death like Hot_Bid, Waxangel, stuchiu, and Shellbot, I have decided that we are going to have Group Selections. Of course that still means we need an initial seeding. Shit. Ok so I will do it like this:
User Status x Number of Posts = lichter Points
User Statuses: Red = 4 Blue = 3 Contributor = 1.5 User = 1
So, for example, Christelle is a Blue and has 28 posts. He then has 84 lichter points. Pitiful. The_Templar has 9000 posts and LRs a lot so he counts as a Contributor, and has 13500 lichter points. Yes this is totally how I will determine seeding. Because Shellbot has 50k posts he’ll probably go first, he totally saw this coming.
On to Group Selections. Basically, I will make a Group Selections thread for each round of the tournament, which will show the order of how people are supposed to select a person of their choice. Each person must post within 1 hour of the previous turn in order for their choice to count. If the player picking does not post in time, the user with the least amount of lichter points will automatically be chosen for him. Yes, it is ridiculous but it’s the only way to go about it. Also everyone is on TL all day anyway so you might as well be here on time to select your group. Selections will follow a snake progression.
I just realized that doing Ro64 Group Selections is insanity. Also, to be more consistent with GSL, first group stage will be done based on seeding and only the second group stage onward will have Group Selections.

Then take this to a different forum...
Not sure if serious
Also not sure if the OP is serious with his line.
What's a humor?
Lol, my mistake. I'm still confusing the General and the Tournament Forum since TL swapped their positions... Saw this thread in the second forum from the top and thought it was a real tournament. Then I read the line that nobody will be playing. Now I feel stupid.
i change my list because i didnt know that the first ones who get nominated get in. new one: Conti, KadaverBB, zatic (old were nazgul, waxangel and lolfail9001)
I know 2 of my nominations, not sure about the third yet.
Mintie, I am indebted to him for life 'cause he translated the jjakji interview when nobody else wanted to. TheBB, for Aligulac ^^
Third one, possibly Shelly. Or Wax for the funzies. Or DJHelium as a fellow jjakji fan. Or Grovbolle for being my Aligulac initiator. Maybe not Shells cuz he's a prime fan. Can't decide.........

voting or nominations? you aren't that hardcore to do the voting on a post basis... are you...?
If even people like me can vote (which I'm not sure of even though I read all the rulez and there was no "lurkers go away" anywhere)then :
Cokefreak (is he counted as a contributor ? I mean he's probably the origin of 80% of reports) KadaverBB (because he's so nice and not nominated qualified yet) kollin (not kidding)
This is nice, I'll go buy popcorn for the popcon EDIT :

If k-god is a god, then k-god is eternal, so he/she can't be underage. Whatever, I still don't know whether kollin being a girl is a running joke or if it's serious. Please shed some light on newbs like me. no troll plz (I have high hopes for this last sentence)

You can still nominate two people so I'm not sure why you'd want to edit :p
I just didn't want to post twice. But I'll just do that. I nominate Conti for doing both the top 50 monthly streamer list and his aligulac work. I nominate kiekaboe for being a guy who fucking rocks at submitting matches and keeping aligulac up to date.
I nominate SC2John, for providing excellent SC2 strategy, and being humble as shit about it. He had to be encouraged several times to move his constantly-awesome analysis to SC2 Strategy instead of Blogs.
I nominate RICH, the wizard of TL, mostly because this thread exists, but also because this site is so much more awesome because of him.
I nominate baller for making everyone laugh over the years and especially for THE bump. See his fan club.
I'll reserve my last nomination for now.
It's 2013, so I nominate Die4Ever for making WCS so much better to follow with his Blizzcon qualification probabilities thread. I spent more time reading that thread than actually watching the games.

I Nominate TheDwf for even though from other people (Protoss and Zerg Players) he is known for pointing out balance issues he contributes alot to every discussion he is in and always always backs up everything he says with cold hard facts and is helpful to the Terran Community. So GO DWF and thank you for your dedication and Passion! <3
I also Nominate Vadersven for making the 4M guide and spending time on helping the Terran community as well ( Still waiting on the TvP Guide you genius you <3)
Lastly I Nominate Nazgul without you none of this would exist so a big shout out to you ! Actually I see that Nazgul was nominated already SO I want to retract that and Nominate Jazzman88 for Writing an amazing TvP Guide I still reference it to this day
Wintex! For being a die-hard fan in spite of universal belief in the Law... Die4Ever! For creating Blizzcon qualification probabilities simulation... Lolfail9001! For being... Russian comrade... I guess...

Sure, I hereby use my first nomination to nominate Die4Ever.
Why is this in SC2 and not community? Does this mean we cannot nominate the Dota 2 writers, or GMarshal for his work in the TL Mafia subforum (and just being generally awesome)?
Ohhh hullo.... Awwwyiss 13300 ish lichter points. I'm feeling like I'll be one of the lower seeded people. So why aren't Liquipedia edits or coins also counted towards the lichter points? (I have about 10 600 LP edits[1] and 4 gold coins)
Oh and I'd like to nominate: itsjustatank, Aesop, and fusefuse. (and a lot of other people but am I allowed to nominate more than 3?)
(ps. salle is spelled with a lower case S, only the wiki that forces first initial to be upper case on all user accounts =/)
Squat- For consistently amusing me, often with his PMs. opterown- For being a general content baller. TotalBiscuit- Decided to stick in an E-sports personality into this slot. Others were considered who do a good job in TL, but I enjoy the Biscuit's tearing apart of idiocy so I decided to plump for him.
Tbh, though, I'm feeling we're gonna get swept by the reds...I mean, common: wax, monk HOTBID. How is that even fair? That's like putting a diamond league player against INnoVation in the first round of the open bracket. HOW COULD YOU? THE POOR CHILD NEVER EVEN STOOD A CHANCE!

Oh pish, posh, what is a bribe, really? He would just be highlight a high quality post.
somehow I got nominated wtf, I thought I just pissed everyone off with my snarky remarks and only got away with it because I've made a bunch of LR threads.
If anyone nominates me and I get in, I have some very creative ideas to make a video/videos like my last one about this tournament S; I hope that isn't bribing.
Oh, this might backfire and I'll get nominated negatively or something, but if anyone is interested, please do... Because I'd love to make another video for you guys to get angry about. ^^
I would like to use my second nomination to vote for zealot. Yes, this guy. His moderation record is absolutely impeccable, and unlike some people who worthlessly clutter up TL, no post of his is meaningless. I would challenge anyone to find a single post of his with any flaw at all. He is a veteran of this forum, and an inspiration to us all.

Hah, I knew that would make someone vote for him. :D
So apparently I qualified. Not sure for what yet, but.. er.. yay! \o/
And I get to nominate three awesome people? Cool.
I nominate Grovbolle, for doing awesome aligulac work and being the twittery face of the site. I nominate Dakota_Fanning for creating sc2gears (serously guys, just one nomination so far?) I nominate {CC}StealthBlue for creating all kinds of awesome threads about TV shows and stuff.
I nominate Dakota_Fanning - thanks for SC2Gears( i didn't know but i read in the post before mine) I nominate Hot_bid - fucking iviews I nominate Seeker - Translationssssssssssss
Wait holy shit ninazerg isn't qualified yet. I nominate her too! Like, twice.
*edit* oh yeah, forgot one more. So, my final nom's are: -TheLastTemplar, for the scarlett fan club. -ninazerg, because reasons. -glider, because seriously have you seen his art blogs?
ALSO because I just realized doing Ro64 group selections is insanity, and to be more consistent with GSL, I will be assigning Ro64 groups based on lichter Points. Group Selections start in Ro32.
Christelle has a pathetic 87 points. I couldn't round his post number up to the nearest hundred because it was so far off from 100 lol Next lowest is GameHeart with 450 lichter Points.
ONE SPOT LEFT THESE GUYS NEED ONE MORE NOMINATION zatic Meat HawaiianPig Liquid Drone Aesop {CC}StealthBlue flamewheel micronesia NovaMB Aeromi Yhamm farvacola wtf HaXXspetten Whole Wombat_NI wo1fwood
Shouldn't you use the extra two days, to instead write an extremely detailed TL power rank (with lists of notable contribution, moderation records, number of rainbow sheep posted, etc), or will you do that in the later rounds?

I plan to do Interviews and Previews for Ro8 onwards
edit: This should have been in the general forum, I missed it until I saw Torenhire's blog post. Trozz and Chef, the two best posters on this website did not qualify, I demand a new round of nominations.

a bit late I think, he's in the tournament already. You can vote for him here. However, even though you have the power to vote him, remember power corrupts, corruption leads to crime, crime never pays, and therefore you can't afford TL+ and other games, meaning you will rely on Serejai forever if you vote for him. This man, while having exploited the fallacies of an idiot recently and having given away prizes out of good will, will never know if you vote someone else instead.
Why should you vote for me? Against SAYLE? The great Sayle?

When WCS America had no coverage, one community writer stepped up. An independent writer fuelled by nothing but PASSION. His contributions were eventually recognized by the TL writing staff and the two giants united. DarkLordOlli became a TL writer and combined his raw crafting skill with TL's sharp editing.
Let the voices of the community explain to you why you should vote for me.

It doesn't need a region lock, it just needs more opportunity for players to play and win. DuckDeok story is awesome, and it makes me wonder how many "faceless Korean" are not faceless at all.
DuckDeok fighting, go now and win Blizzcon.

anyways even if many people want duckdeok to win.. there is a very low probability that will happen .. especially when the first person you meet normally all-kills in teamleagues with a really high winrate in all matchups
if the duck is able to pull a miracle and win against innovation then probably the most far he could get is semi finals if ever MC wins over maru .. if not then i dont even think he can even get out of r16
seriously this tournament is just too stacked for him to win .. everyone aside from duckdeok are either multiple championship winners or either championship contenders(could be both) .. he is the only exception in the list
and oh before i forget .. 3/16 .. 13 more to go
