I didn't see this thread originally but it's a great explanation. Surprised that this (and a few other problems) have not gotten more attention from the community, but the biggest other issue that i suffer from could be related to drag-scrolling the camera and i drag scroll far, far more than the average player. This one should affect everyone who clicks regularly, i've seen a lot of people do the oops-i-accidentally-sent-all-workers thing and done it a lot myself. It's like a one in every 50 games thing if you're careful but when you've played hundreds to thousands of games, it will happen to you a lot.

i.e.: click a worker, then any hotkeyed unit(s), and then the worker again, then hotkeyed unit, etc. repeatedly. if you do it fast enough u can see that it selects all workers every time. as if it thinks you double-clicked on the worker. shouldnt it break the double-click cycle whenever another action is used in between the double clicks?

Having nearly an entire second between the first and second click is absolutely not a double click, that's two separate clicks in a game as fast as SC2. I would love to see this fixed, but I guess this far in the life of SC2 we're not going to see it happen.
