Actually, I think they should reduce it to 2 words instead of 3. That should cut down on the excessive syllables. BW maps often had elegant 1-word names. Python. Andromeda. Destination. SC2 maps seem to have the tradition of being "planet name" + "geographic feature." I might be generalizing too much here.

hows about hatch first on gold praying for the opponent not going through the middle  yeah seriously it may work since some players always scout clockwise or counter-clockwise on 4p map (provide that FS is not forced cross)

I'm really interested to see how that map in particular plays out. I mostly like the pool, but I don't see fighting spirit lasting long. It has a few too many weird features (Hard to go beyond 3 bases, weird gas setup [I assume the main and 3rd have rich geysers?], and the middle gold). The gold base is, as others have pointed out, exceptionally weird, as it has the usual bad features of a gold base (being a win more base) taken to the ridiculous extreme. I don't really like gold bases in general, but at least on maps like meta or antiga they had interesting uses. On this map however it requires almost total map control to secure, so the only thing it seems to do is seal the deal when you have a commanding lead. If you are ahead enough to take that base, you were almost for sure going to win anyway.

Soooo sick, so glad Fighting Spirit is back and Floating Island/Naro look so good as well.
Middle Fighting Spirit expansion is great too, it means if you're winning you can close out the game properly, it's so hard to hold it though, I've played customs on it and it can be hit by basically any siege unit over the wall and that's how it should be. A win more base. The fact there's only 4 sets of 3 bases makes positioning so much more important as well.

Also Naro's fourth bases are so smart. It's not hard to secure at all. It's far away but it's a single wide ramp meaning it's good for walling, mech, toss and zerg with burrowed banelings. It means securing the third needs army, but you can split later on to defend your later bases.

My only disappointment is that they should have included face off as one of the maps. It looked absolutely sick.

Their version of Newkirk is quite a bit better than Blizzards imo, that pocket fourth base isn't super easy to defend anymore. Also, Floating Island top left / bottom right spawn is pretty hilarious XD

I like how Fighting spirit has 1 gas in all bases except the natural. As the Korean commentators said last night, they thought, 'BW and HotS both have 200 supplies but HotS has way too many workers in comparison. If those number of workers are reduced, the game may become more dynamic in 200/200 fights'.
By making all gases extract 8 gas each, they reduced the number of workers mining gas by half. So in late game fights with say 3 bases, that is 9 more supply that can go towards the army at least. I like this change. The game doesn't always have to be balanced out through units, it can be done by changing maps (terrains, and minerals!). Very interesting to see and how this will possibly change the game in pro scene.

it's just a win more expansion If it plays anything like BW Fighting Spirit the center expansion will be relevant in about 0% of games. Even when you're ahead you're not going to be ahead enough to be able to take the center expansion. If you're so far ahead that you can actually take the center expo it's more of a case of an opponent's poor GG timing than anything else.

I really like the map pool although there's been a lot of mirrors in the matches.. Ive been thinking for a while and trying to understand why there arent square, symmetrical maps in the pool. One thing that could make it more fun is players fighting for expansions... but right now...all players are doing is basically defending and denying them rather than taking it themselves. For any expansion..outside of the FS one, it seems like one opponent has the upper advantage from a defensive point of view.. They should definitely give 4-way symmtetrical, square maps a try.
