If you have watched and payed attention to all the major tournaments for thee past 8 months, it's obvious that changes are necessary for the game to continue being played... but as a first attempt at a new RTS, I'd say Blizzard did well. Unfortunately, their patch choices since 2011 were not made with a long-term emphasis.
For the life of me, I just can't figure out which direction Blizzard is trying to take with this game. They never seem to have a distinct plan acting as an explanation for the direction in which they foresee, and desire, to see the game take. Almost all of the choices Blizzard has made to the game are reactionary, and meant to combat the effects of the system they put in place when the original version released. The designers of this game must have a more direct approach to what they want the game to play like... and I don't think anyone wants to see the same compositions being used in every competitive match.
Can anyone tell me what Blizzard wants to game to look like in the future? What is the development team's plan? Are they completely reliant on Korean teams to play the game around the clock and effectively 'test' it for them? Wtf is going on with Starcraft 2 guys?
Still super fun to play though, and a great source for competition

I always wondered where all the foreign terran players would rank if they didnt play terran. Good read, agree 100%.
would just like to add that watching starcraft is quite boring now, tvz and tvt were really the only intesting matchups for me and tvz was gutted and there are so few terrans that tvt is rare.

Your comparison for good fungals, although showing my bias, is leenock. If you sit and watch leenock play, I doubt many people can mimic what he does, same goes for life, sniper et al..
This isn't a problem with just fungal. Its a problem after you nerf fungal, how does zerg win? Fungal over balanced the an issue that existed, so there needs to be multiple balance changes to make the game balanced. But no one has shown they actually know what the balance changes are.
Gumiho solves the problem of infestors with ghosts and lots of them. It does leave him open to certain transitions though, but he is still having success with it and thats even with the current patch.
I think one of the issues that has occured is that zerg over the time since beta has had to adapt quicker to imbalance than the other races. On this fungal patch, protoss was dominating the scene originally. Then zergs figured it out and now zerg is romping. Yet we are still seeing terrans and protoss players playing exactly the same as pre patch.
One of the issues is that maybe there are too many tournaments going on for the top guys to sit down and work it out. Because the time it takes to work it out may affect their results.
I know that Tear doesn't seem to struggle against zerg too much, because his timings are all pre infestor/blord mass. So the zerg can't just sit there and go straight to infestor brood.
There is a solution to every problem, it just seems whining is the easiest option.

Why TS, why? You make such a nice post, well researched, many pretty pictures, etc. Of course you can agree or disagree with what is said, but no one will deny it is a very nice post. And then in pretty much the last sentence you ruin it all by going the tinfoil hat way, that it is all a huge conspiracy to help the white-man win against the koreans.

What about all the other foreigners that are not white men? Remember, other non-Korean Asians are also foreigners. Are you saying that Blizzard doesn't want to help them and only wants to help the white man? Are you accusing Blizzard of racism?

Glad I'm not playing at the moment to be a "patchzerg".
Even as a Zerg player myself, fungal's design disgusted me. Got me pissed off every time my Mutas got fungaled the second I saw an Infestor even in Diamond (I also hated Thor shots off screen).
Though it's quite hilarious to read, at the same time, I can feel the bitterness as well. It's kinda sad actually. I remember reading God of the Battlefield - it was the most mindbendingly-awe-inspiring-nerd-chill-inducing article I've ever read.

I seriously wish R1CH had written some sort of devilish script that checked everyone who posted in this thread against people who had read any Ver's other posts. It's so amusingly sad how many people shitpost without realizing who they're shitposting.
Dude wrote a guide to the game that is still relevant despite the fact that he wasn't even writing about SC2. I won't pretend to have been here during BW times, but people should at least try to respect their forefathers.

Probably still below the others.
Foreign Terrans have always been the weakest Zerg always the strongest. Even in the early days when Zerg cried about as much as Terran does now.

Hey this God of Battlefield part 2 looks weird.

I have to agree that Zerg became linear and easy race in current "meta", infestor is a tool that lets you play "cookie-cutter" which of course appeals to foreigners who go to school or are lazy, there is no need to research more just practice 1-2 combos nail it and you have 50% chance to beat anyone in the world, how cool is that 
I actually was better player when it was mutaling metagame i could see myself grow from day to day then the metagame stagnated i knew its all about getting proper buildorder, buildorder game bored me and i don't play it anymore.

I dunno. There was a time when European Terrans were amongst the strongest foreigners, straight up - Jinro, Thorzain, Kas, BratOK, Happy, SjoW, MorroW (and others like Strelok, goody, beastyqt, Naama, Tarson) - are you saying they were only doing well because Terran was OP in the past? I think it's mainly NA where there are few elite Terrans.

I played Zerg for a long time. Now I switch to Protoss. Why? I dont like infestors! You have to have them all the time and they are indeed great antiair and huge vs massmarines. But at the moment you need them vs everything else.
The Infestor is a unit to win not to have fun with.
