Remember you can pre-order your copy through the TL store and help support Team Liquid! It's also an easy way to get a beta key! |

It's basically the same price as the original. WoL cost $60 for me at release. HotS will cost $40. $40 < $60. WoW expansions are $40. The Frozen Throne was $40 iirc. WoL was 38€ at Releaseday at AMAZON in Germany...
Yes, but WoL was €60 in the blizz store on release day (I think it still is actually?) HotS on amazon, or most other (decent) retail shops won't be €40.

I also say that because according to some posts I've read here, the b.net features like clan support and such are being added to WoL once HotS comes out, so to me it really just feels like I'm paying $40 for the new units. And as a Terran, I'm not content with the current units for each race.
So if you're buying a car, but only want one seat in it, you'd only pay half the price? That makes so much sense!

Something tells me this news wasn't supposed to get out yet. This is not how blizzard announces release dates.

I can see how some other people don't mind it depending on what they're actually doing with HotS, but personally, I'm just disappointed at the state of HotS and therefore can't justify spending more than $20 on it. If you play it in multiplayer, you can just think of it like paying a subscription fee of a bit over $1 a month over probably 3 years, bargain!

but oh well, hopefully the storyline is longer
and they have 4 months more to balance the game $40 is not expensive at all for an expansion, especially if Legacy of the Void won't be out for another 2-3 years. Every single WoW expansion has been $40, on top of the $15 subscription fee, and you don't see people complaining about that. Stop being cheap. It is expensive for a game that most play for the multiplayer (at least most here on TL). I can buy both Natural selection 2 AND Primal carnage for the same cost, two new and fairly well received multiplayer games. That people actually think that $40 is a fair price just shows how much people just buy off the name of the company rather than the game itself. TL has around 10 k registered users. Have you seen the sales figures for sc2:wol? They run in the millions. Like it or not but TL is rather insignificant as far as playerbase goes. Pretty sure TL has a LOT more than 10k registered users, even including all the PBU's. Yes, but a lot of people miss the fact that many SC2 users do NOT go on sites like TL and Reddit. I would say 80% of my friends fall into that category.

D3. They said May 15th, released on May 15th. Unless that wasn't their only release date.

As someone who has played multiple games across multiple genres I can tell you official clan ladders almost always wind up corrupt to an almost unpolicable extent.

They had more release days, but it was the first one they actually officially announced, so if they keep that up it shouldn't be pushed back this time either. It's just an expansion anyway so there are less things there to delay it.

Oh they just shot themselves in the leg so hard. Not only do you need to pay 60 bucks to play star 2 now, you also need to pay another 40 bucks to get hots. Thats 100 bucks just to get into a new game, quiet a lot if you ask me. Good thing blizzard has so many brainless fanboys who'll buy anything that has blizzard on it.

You don't get any additional real content (like missions), you get a changed multiplayer ultralisk appearance to show off, and a couple of player portraits as "feat of strength" achievement reward.
Since I have Wol CE already, I will buy Hots CE, too.

There'll be a battle chest available that offers both versions for 60 bucks.
Blizzard knows what they're doing, they've been doing this for a long time. It's the exact same pricing model they've used for every single title they've released since Warcraft 2.
