Lol its easy for the EG guys to sit in their game house, getting at least 30k a year to drink Monster, whilst talking this nonsense. The real people doing something for the game consistently break their backs to stream, fly to events in order to get good results for their fans. Noone in EG besides Stephano does this. And for DjWheat to even act as an authority on a game he hasn't got a clue about is disturbing. I already think that the concept of E-Sports is a joke, but these guys took it toooo far.
I can't help feel that after watching that terrible episode of Inside The Game, Idra, Incontrol and DjWheat performed reacharounds on each other before Destiny came on air so that it looked like a horrible set up. Just to be clear, you are joking right? -EG flies everywhere, just as much as any other team. -They certainly stream just as much as other teams (more than most too). -They provide far more e-sports related content than any other team. -They have a practice house designed so that they can hone their talents. -Wheat isn't an authority on SC2 or e-sports? LOL. How many famous shows does he have to host and tournaments does he have to cast before he becomes an authority in your eyes? And you realize Destiny was fabricating numbers and viewership fluctuations when Wheat literally works for Twitch, right? Everyone elaborating on their own responses to Destiny's fully written argument was just making things even, and the fact that there was agreement among the good points means nothing more than consistency. Just because people agree with each other doesn't mean they weren't also bringing up good points lol.
Very well said sir. I'm shocked at the amount of people lacking common sense who just blindly side with Destiny's doomsday prophecy and hate on the ITG hosts because they disagreed with him on some points. Everything you said was spot on.

See, this is a police state where nerds become mods and go on power trips because of the power bestowed upon them. This is why i havent been posting a lot, and why i wont miss this place. Because god forbid you bump a 2000 page thread to talk about something, without reading all 2000 pages to make sure your point hasnt been discussed yet. And god forbid your sense of humor is different from that of the mods, or you say anything critical about a player. Like how Nony has been a total faggot the last few days, or that Incontrol cant play for shit.
So whatever, ban me. Make me a martyr. We all know what's going on in this shitty place.

Starcraft 2 is a successful e-sport because of the fans and players, and because of Blizzard. They make the game and promote it but most of the promotion that built the current scene was done by the community and individual content providers and passionate fans. We don't always do things the right way, and sure as hell Blizzard does not either. But we need to come together on this. Everyone of us here who loves e-sports and want sc2 to succeed need to realize one thing. WE and BLIZZARD are on the same team here, the game will only succeed when both work as a team. The same goes for the other games.
This is not us against Blizzard but Blizzard/sc2 fans vs Riot/LoL etc.
We need to find a good balance between pointing out to Blizzard what things needs to be done better, while also not filling the internet with "hots suck, sc2 will die" threads because we are doing terrible marketing for the game. Also, we need to work even harder to promote the game. People promoted sc2 like crazy back in the early days. We knew that Steppes of War and Blistering Sands were HORRIBLE maps but we still promoted the game with all of our hearts because we knew that eventually that would be sorted. This is also the time to work on making more community content to keep promoting the game. If the problem is lack of casual appeal then we need to make more content tuned to casuals. These are interesting times and there is room for healthy competition in this industry. We need to realize though that we are not on the sidelines either waiting for Blizzard to make sc2 the best e-sports game. We are in the competition having to work for our game.
I think this post deserves an echo. There is too little nuance in this thread. The op does not help.

I don't particularly agree with the Blizzard/sc2 fans vs Riot/lol part. Both are promoting 'esports'. And it's not like we envisioned esports to be a one-game-only scene.

Building on franchise ... instead building on legacy. That was the biggest tragedy in development of SC2.

I dont' get whz everyone around page ~50 was whining that SC2 is just serious business hardcore laddering or don't play at all. There are tons of fun mods, I enjoy Monobattles when more in a casual mood or even marine arena when in a micro mood. there are fastest maps, there is Brood War for everyone saying "it should have been more like brood war!!"
It's not that casual gamers can't have fun with this game...

It could still be way more casual friendly though, and there are easy battle.net tweaks they could do to attract more players. I know of many people, including myself, who stays away from custom games simply because of the interface and the way the arcade works.
I think Blizzard's refusal of doing easy tweaks and adding easy small features is what is causing many people to be mad at Blizzard/SC2 and lose faith. Even things like clan support has taken TWO YEARS and being sold in an expansion.
I know that at least I would maybe start to care about SC2 once again if Blizzard started being more active in either development resources or actively participating in the tournament scene. (I know many people say Blizzard cares a lot about the tournament scene and sponsors a lot but as far as I know we don't have any real details, corporations like GOM/OGN/MLG only promotes Blizzard because they need a license from Blizzard and not because Blizzard provides any prizes whatsoever, as far as I know.) 99.99% of SC2 e-sports is being done by the community and that's even without tools to do it properly so we need either Blizzard, or tools.

A vague, borderline useless statement that has almost no meaning when you pick it apart? That’s not what I wanted SC2 to be.

Rock-paper-scissors philosophy in nutshell. it forces us to use one composition. Usual scenario: -what if I build unit A, -NO, they will build unit B and you'll die, you better stick with the Colossi/gateway army, - ok Instead of making hardcounters, why won't we diversify units, make them interactable, microable, soft counters. I would start from lowering damage of most units that do too much specified damage. Like, why marauder does +10 vs armored? Instead make it 8 base damage and +6 vs armored. Upgrades (+1/0). Increase their speed so that they could be microed better but don't do absurd damage. Cut in half damage of banelings, but increase explosion radius, so that opponent has more incentives to micro and spread his army. Make phoenixes do 7+7 base damage and no additional damage to light. And vuala, you can use them in fights, not only for scouting and killing workers, not utterly devastating but micro dependant. And many many more stuff should be tweaked. We're not asking to redesign units. Some tweaks would've make huge differences. Thoughts? Blizzard has made it pretty clear over the last couple of years as to what they're willing to change and what they won't change. They're happy to play around with balance tweaks all the time, but none of these tweaks has ever really changed how a race plays and feels like, only the optimal timings and compositions have changed.
Doesn't change the fact that I'm dissapointed with the game. I'll keep throwing suggestions on how to make starcraft better. Maybe some will catch Blizzard's attention and maybe they'll find it a good idea?
its much better than arguing ITG vs Destiny incident all day long.

That is the thing about free games. You always have to be updating your content, so people want to play it. With a 60 dollar game, you sell your game, and after that it doesnt matter, because you made your profit. Sure it is nice, that the series is well received, but look at something like CoD, every game is the same, and people still buy it.

It's gotten to where we go play LoL because at least we can all play together. If scII is dying or not, I doubt it. However, Blizzard/Activision really really needs to step up their game to real life standards.
