Hello everyone! Is it possible to find any Balance Notes about the HotS Changes, like standard Patch Notes? Or just new units were added?

There's a guy called juicyjames who usually posts an updated list of changes in the beta balance update threads. This is how the game looks after update #13:

PROTOSS
  • Carrier
    • Interceptors can now change targets when they are in leash range.
  • Dark Shrine
    • The cost is now 150/150, down from 100/250.
  • Mothership
    • Recall teleports the Mothership and all nearby units owned by the player to the targeted Nexus.
    • The Vortex ability has been removed from the game.
    • New Ability: Time Warp.
      • Creates a temporal field that slows all ground units’ movement speed within a 3.5 radius by 50%.
      • This ability costs 75 energy to cast
      • This ability can be cast from 9 range.

  • Phoenix
    • Range increased from 4 to 5. Upgrade still grants +2 range.

    • Blink research time increased from 140 to 170 seconds.

      • No longer charges up.
      • Weapon period decreased from 0.6 to 0.5.
      • No longer does passive +massive damage.
    • New Ability: Prismatic Alignment
      • Increases damage to armored units by 6 for 20 seconds, with a 1 minute cooldown. This does not scale with upgrades.
      • Activating the ability now causes a timer to display over the Void Ray for the duration of the effect.
    • Supply cost increased from 3 to 4.

TERRAN
  • Armory
    • The Armory now only has one armor upgrade for both air and ground upgrades for both Factory and Starport units.
  • Battlecruiser
    • Yamato Cannon energy cost decreased from 125 to 100.

    • New ability: Ignite Afterburners
      • Speed boost that increases movement speed and acceleration to 4.25 for 8 seconds. 20 second cooldown.
  • Raven
    • Seeker Missile has been redesigned:

      • Can now fire from 10 range.
      • Missile comes out and stays immobile in front of the Raven for 5 seconds while charging up, then rapidly moves and explodes at the target for 100 damage plus splash damage.
      • Targeted unit lights up red when targeted. If the unit moves 13 range out of where the Seeker Missile is, the Missile fizzles.
  • Reaper
    • New passive ability: Combat Drugs
      • Health regenerates 2hp/s if not attacked during the last 10 seconds (same as Protoss shields)
    • Health increased from 50 to 60.
    • Movement speed increased from 2.95 to 3.75.
    • No longer requires a Tech Lab Addon.
    • No longer have their anti-building grenades.
    • P-45 Gauss Pistol weapon damage decreased from 4 +5 vs. Light to 4.
  • Siege Tank
    • Siege Tanks no longer require an upgrade in order to enter Siege Mode.
  • Thor
    • 250mm Strike Cannons has been removed, along with its associated energy bar.
    • The Thor can now switch between two modes: High-Impact Payload and Explosive Payload. The mode shift takes 4 seconds.
    • When in High-Impact Payload mode, the Thor switches to a different anti-air gun (250mm Punisher Cannons) that has 10 range and deals 24 flat damage.
    • Thor radius, inner radius, and separation radius increased from 0.8215 to 1.
  • (Wiki)Widow Mine

ZERG
  • Creep Tumor
    • No longer spawn instantly, but instead have a three second spawning animation.
    • May now be placed on ramps.
  • Hatchery
    • The Evolve Burrow upgrade requirement has been moved to the Hatchery.
    • The Pneumatized Carapace upgrade now only requires a Hatchery.
  • Hydralisk
    • New Upgrade: Muscular Augments
      • Increases hydralisk off-creep speed from 2.25 to 2.81. Speed on creep unchanged (3.37)
  • Infestor
    • Fungal Growth:
      • Is now a projectile.
      • Speed of the projectile is 12.
      • Range up to 10.
      • Damage decreased from 30 +10 vs. Armored to 30.
  • Mutalisk
    • Speed increased from 3.75 to 4. Acceleration stays at 3.5.
    • New passive ability: Tissue Regeneration
      • Mutalisk health regeneration rate increased from .2734 to 1
  • Spine Crawler
    • This unit now completely blocks pathing when placed next to other structures, including other Spine Crawlers.
      • Zerglings and other small units can no longer squeeze in between Spine Crawlers.
    • The scale of this unit has been increased from 0.85 to 0.95.
  • Spore Crawler
    • This unit no longer requires an Evolution Chamber.
    • The weapon damage for Acid Spew has been increased from 15 to 15 + 15 vs. Biological.

Are anyone else had their achievements disappear for them? I played the first few missions earlier and got maybe like 4 % achievements for campaign and now when I relogged it's down at 0 % and it seems I don't get any new achievements after having finished a mission despite doing what's required for them (they are greyed out and they don't turn up in the achievement tab). Is it on blizzards end or is it something I can do?

edit: nvm, got a popup saying achievements are disabled until further notice.

So, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but idk where else to..

As someone who isn't that great at WOL(silver), but played and enjoyed tons of custom games, is the game worth picking up? I never really played the campaign in WoL, so I don't know if I'd be able to enjoy this one. But if there are some improvements to multiplayer and in particular custom games, I'd love to try it.

Thoughts?

I haven't seen any of the popular custom games updated yet (on EU). I'm enjoying the single player a ton and the multi player feels very fun atm with everyone experimenting with builds and units, and the game feeling more fast paced. So, I'd say go and pick it up.

Can you still unlock WOL ladder portraits through HOTS ladder? Or do I have to play WOL to unlock them.

Anyone know if the achievement service has an ETA, and also, if the levels on the ladder are counted regardless of whether or not the achievement service is online? Want to get back to Brutal achievements, but Blizzard says nay nay ;_;

Can u aim with widow mines or are they just hitting random targets? I was just watching Yoda vs Ret at IEM @26:30.
Yoda hits a lot of banelings and thus was able to kill him with that push.

one question is really wanna know the answer to:

Does the widow mine splash hurt my OWN units? (ive seen in a 2on2 it hurt my allys units but im not sure if it does hurt mine)

hows everyone from NA's latency on other servers? im on the east coast, massachusetts. i can play on europe with virtually no time lag/delay at all. when i tryed korea//taiwan on WOL it was terrible, over a 2s in game delay and didnt try SEA. curious to what its like for others, thanks

I have about 120 ping to EU and 270 to KR, living on east coast as well. KR is pretty much unplayable in that latency but EU is passable.

I did not finish WoL Campaign yet... i am at Mission 18 or something. If i install HotS now, can i continue singleplayer campaign at that point? Or does it start new with the HotS missions ?

It gives you a choice which campaign to play. You'll be fine.

wow, this fucking guy... i scout his 2cyber cores and i already knew this piece of shit is doing that bullshit tempest comp.
So this guy sits on 3 bases and maxes tempest storm and voids. just 3 fucking bases when i have all map taken, got like 10k minerals 10k gas banked, and i cant do shit to him.
Tried viper+hydra with sniping of tempest - k u kill a couple tempest and u loose all ur army in the progress.
Tried mass ling and ultra runbys - there is really no place to do a run by.. he had only 3 bases..
Tried mass muta and force a base race - he just left like 10 tempest in his base and it was enough to wipe out all my mutas rofl.
Once he had only tempests in his comp (200 army supply of tempests) he just a-move across all map with half of his army and left the other half in his base, i again tried a base race but he just wipes out anything i send to his base with his half of an army.

And blizzard doesnt see a problem with this? this is just stupid as hell, in wol when zerg had that 'imba' comp of brood infestor, protoss at least had vortex+archon, or could easily do a base race with a good chance of winning, but against this tempest bullshit - therese just no chance of winning..

So yeah, if ur a protoss and u want 100% winrate, mass that air combo shit and watch zergs rage.
