It doesn't work if you have tried the Arcade beta. Waiting on a fix. Blizz support forum down right now which doesn't help. There was a blue post though before saying they were aware of the issue. It throws some error about not being able to download a file and asks you to check your internet connection. So if you get that, just hold tight.
Arg.
EDIT: Also doesn't work if you have more than one region client installed.
Blue says they are working to resolve as quickly as possible. Seems an issue with people who tried the Arcade beta or people who have more than one region client installed (not sure if this in effect means all SEA players but I gather not coz I know at least one SEA/NA client that seems to have updated without throwing an error).
Just have to go out into the sunlight for a bit I guess.

I have multiple regions installed on the computer I currently use so it might cause issues for all i'm guessing

Yeah, I can confirm that, I only have the sea client and I am having no problem. Only problem is battlenet is down. Oh well.

Imo they should switch the fungal and neural parasite upgrades. Neural parasite being a provided skill will lessen the effects of 2 base immortal/mech all ins. But then zvz would prolly have a problem

is it possible to play on NA while this happens right now i keep getting booted out of sc2 as soon as it opens up, cant even change the region.

It isn't really a complain. I play random and my most played race is Zerg atm. Just wondering.
I have the SEA/NA version. I can switch regions at will, but my default is NA. Just logged in NA to fend off a 6pool TvZ.
I have a feeling if I try to switch my region to SEA, I'll start getting a lot of problems... Better to let Blizz and early adopters sort the issues out first.
Just an FYI, performance in SC2 comes from the CPU. They just made some memory adjustments. This makes way more sense, SC2 is a huge memory hog consuming over 1GB on average, with 4v4 battles consuming upwards of 8GB RAM if installed, and their need to find a larger memory footprint for the HOTS campaign within recommended specifications (2-4GB) - there's nothing worse than an artist complaining he can't use that 1024x1024 texture on Kerrigan's left cheek because they were told it's not in the budget. TLDR: You will actually see an FPS decrease, judging by observation in the beta, or that will have been fixed and it will be the same.
hmmm,,,, I'm on an SEA account, but everytime I start the game,, it just showed the patching screen and then crashes. Wonder what happened ?? Did everyone on SEA account has this problem ?
Mine is about 900MB (it converts your game install so you don't download the entire thing), but I also had colours mod/relocalizor so it MIGHT be re-downloading the core files involved.

Thankfully, the changes will make performance better on my side. Since patch 1.3 or something, it suddenly got laggier (freezing at the same things every game), so I'm glad it's finally better again.
So when you say either your FPS will decrease or increase, it's because those with high RAM but worse everything else were able to play well with the old coding, and those with bad RAM but good everything else can play better with the new coding?
Okay, im just curious because i live in an area where i dont have broadband so i have to tether from my phone and i have a 15 gig limit, and the picture blizzard put said that it was 5 gigs or something like that... a full working 1.4.4 to 1.5 patch would be nice if anyone knows that. I dont run any sound mods or anything with editted MPQ's so if anyone knows for sure what that is would be great. Thank you so far for the info! <3

It is 90 mb for the inital update, then once you are on the new launcher you will have a 1.25 gig download. For me anyways.

Nothing I said has any relevance to your problem. The memory usage has never been radically changed in prior patches, the better or worse reference was only to do with changes made in beta showing an FPS decrease, and any testing can't be done until 1.5 servers are up.

It won't install for me, it downloads the patch (the patch notes being for 1.4.4...) and then goes through the setup and migration thing, asks me to begin optimisation and then says i have not enough space on my HD for the install which makes no sense as i have well over 100gb's spare?

Yeah, but your GPU is supposedly 0 degrees so I'm guessing it doesn't actually work ^_^
I am in SEA too, so....I dont really understand - what is this patch? Why is this so big? Over 1 GB, really? I have slow internet -.-
So am I right in saying this is so huge because it has new look/appearance/user interface? That is all right, there is no balance etc.?
Woah....if it truly is 1 GB then.....its gonna take maybe 6 hours for me -.- RIght now I am downloading the 92 MB one...
Well balance changes are just unit stat changes so a pure balance patch is very small. It makes sense an interface / engine patch (they said they optimized memory usage and whatnot) is a lot bigger. So be patient =)

Does anyone have the

After the 92 patch is done, it says
"Your installation of SC2 must be optimized before you can play. This process takes 15-60 minutes and should not be cancelled once it begins. Do you wish to proceed?"
Does anyone get this ? I have no option but to click begin and...there it goes, just freezes at 0%

It's basically a rather large overhaul of the entire game engine and backend to increase performance across the board and make global play and stuff like that possible.

Yes, I'm currently patching it now. It's the 2nd part of the patch that is about 1gb of memory.

How long did it freeze? It might just be doing the optimization but just displaying 0% for a while. I'd say be patient and just let it run for a while before stopping it. It even says it can take up to 60 minutes, did you wait that long before canceling it?
On July 31 2012 16:43 etherealfall wrote: um. just played a custom game in Ohana LE and the colossus doesnt break the FF........
I wonder if that's an unintentional change (probably). They fixed burrows not auto detonating under colossus since colossus counted as both air and ground units, maybe that messed up the colossus' ability to break FFs?
If it's intentional, that's pretty big but definitely interesting.

There are completely separate clients. So your NA client will just update whenever the patch is released on NA, regardless of whether you update your SEA client.

Maybe they should make collosus not break FFs but they are still able to step over it due to no collisions. Maybe this will improve PvP a tiny little bit :D
I hope the patch goes through today! The Arcade is fucking awesome! Can't wait to check in the morning to see if the patch is actually live and functioning.

What, really? I did not know that, sorry for misinformation in that case Playing on EU myself, always thought you had separate clients for every region... :<

Since you get an NA account for free when you buy SEA you get both regions on the one client. ^^
is anybody else finding the patch quite buggy at the moment? just tried to play a few games and noticed the following
- intermittent lag in every game (although i guess this could be me, i don't usually lag though, yesterday seemed to be ok) - keep getting disconnected from bnet during a game - warpgate cooldown animation is bugged (the area that has been 'cooled down' still remains dark). i tried to take a screen shot but it only comes back with a black screen - any thoughts?
none of them are particularly deal breaking, im sure they will go away once blizz gets their performance tuning...just thought others might like to know it isn't limited to them if they come across it
on a neutral note of other changes though, the line between visible terrain and fog of war is EXTREMELY clear now. it looks slightly unnatural but i guess makes it much clear what you can and cant see
this is on the SEA server
#edit1: updated with bugged warpgate animation. you can get around the screenshot issue by going into windows mode
Holy fuck does this look cool... change is fun from time to time :D (I personally have had no hiccups with anything thus far with running the patch or anything yet.)
Yes I remember doing it, but it went through Battle.net so it still had the lag. Now it doesn't.
That's probably because you were still in multiplayer mode. There's a single player tab you click to play vs AI without going through Battle.net and there always has been.

The launcher automatically redownloads modified files, as proven per the recent thread on the subject.
I suppose DarKcS was basing this only on the proof that was provided based on 1.5 PTR, not 1.5 final.
No, I just installed it on 1.5 final. It's a shader mod so it doesn't work the same way the other ones do. The other mods modify mpq files, if I'm not mistaken. The shader mod just adds files.

Ah ok, so the other mods could still be broken. Did you by chance test any of the other ones?
Windows automatically searches DLL files in the program directory before they are looked up in a default Windows directory. This and because the way D3D9 is working (with D3D9 commands which can be read and modified) darkD3 can let all D3D9 command process as usual and when it detects the command to actually show the rendered frame, it applies its own shader on the rendered surface before it is really displayed.
To those getting the language pack issue: as mentioned on sc2sea by Dingobloo and found on the Battle.net forums here, the problem seems to stem from the locale in your My Documents\Starcraft II\Variables.txt file. The locale variables need to be enSG and not something else.
localeidassets=enSG localeiddata=enSG
(Obviously this is for the SEA client, if you have the NA client it should be enUS, etc.)

Fuck blizzard, why so buggy?
I had this issue too after I had the language issue. The temporary fix for me was to replace StarCraft II.exe with the older v1.4.3 version which was 6.33MB. I grabbed it from someone who hadn't updated yet.
I've been stuck with this for a couple of hours now. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm having the same exact problem. And to think that I'm always playing NA
is the goal of patch 1.5 to make SC2 players appreciate all the crap D3 purchasers had to go through during their launch? Because if so, mission accomplished. I dont even understand how an pre-expansion pack patch can have more bugs than the original game release! I guess this is what happens when the lead designer is some Command and Conquer reject, hired by Activision to undermine the last likable franchise owned by Blizzard.
