On the zergs end, we might see a similar scenario to the warp prism/ht micro that goes on in pvt. Honestly, tempest seems like a decent way to solve a lot of the problems surrounding current lategame pvz, no more archon toilet vs mass brood
we'll have to see what happens, but I think there's a lot of potential in this current HOTS build. Hopefully beta starts soon and the balancing can truly begin

Maybe in the lategame PvZ it will prevent Zerg from camping with infestors/broodlords, and even then, I've great doubts. Tempest has base dps of 8,16. Roach base dps is 8 Tempest does more dps than roach. Also, tempest seems to be yet another good siegebreaker unit for protos. Also, did tempest do splash damage? it would very well compensate for the lowish dps
Wow Tempest DPS is so low for a unit that costs 300/300/6 lol, definitely can't fight face-to-face with any anti-air.

A few tempest trying to kill brood's who are trying to kill a base is going to be the slowest thing ever. Lol. :p

Whenever I see swarm hosts, I think of Gauntlet. KILL THE MONSTER GENERATOR!

49 damage splash is quiet good

Upgraded tempest has 22(!!!) range. Any toss who lets their tempest start fighting face to face with any anti-air without stalker support deserves to lose. Not to mention Oracle can cloak the tempest, core can recall the tempest.
One question thats not clear to me is whether the core's recall ability recalls ALL units to that nexus or is it like the mothership recall today which only recalls units in an area?

Don't remember them saying Tempest had splash in the vid. Source?

The unit stats thread says tempest is single target. 49 normal, 66 vs massive.

They are not splash damage.

Abduct looks stupid, there is nothing Terran can do against this spell when they pull sieged tanks, it's basicly a guaranteed loss of 150minerals 125 gas for some energy
|
Sort of like widow mines right? Did you see that ridiculous mines on the swarm hosts and vipers? Made me cry a little bit.

Vikings? I bet 4 of them would mess up a viper real good.

In the other thread.

49 splash damage is good
Sigh, the poster didn't even know, but still stated it as a fact... why spread misinformation

The only thing they could've done to make it more obvious is put "use this against Broodlords" in the tooltip.
Very typical Blizzard thought process too. Protoss can't fight infestor/broodlord because infestors shut down air play completely? Create a new unit that outranges everything and kills Broodlords. Changing Fungal and letting Void Rays fight Broodlords, as is their stated purpose, was apparently too hard do imagine.

Am I the only one that thinks the widow mine and oracle are broken as shit and need to be changed/removed?
Everyone else seems to be overly focused on the 22 range slow hitting tempest, eventho the oracles just 100% shut you down and the widow mines just blow you up, and both come way early and are relatively cost effective.
Also, wtf is with all the hydra spamming? Did they drop the cost on them? or are all the zergs seriously blowing all their money on hydras in these games?
*edit*
It'd be badass btw if widow mines had FF splash dmg. You could go all sorts of jihad with zerglings then. XD

''Abduct'' looks so fucking silly. >__<

which is why david kim went hydra in the TvZ battle report, swarm hosts tank the damage, hydras are fast and high range/dps with viper grabbing their biggest weakness, the siege tank. I do think vikings are necessary, they have more range then hydras, it will just require some heavy micro from both sides which is great.

My personal favorite mechanic is the viper consume and widow mines. Looks awesome.

You know what, after seeing Terran in action I would actually be okay with most of the stuff in HotS if they buffed tanks a bit. With the new mines, warhound, battle hellion, BFH hellions, thor and starport units and stronger tanks I think Terran will be able to actually come up with some kind of 3/3 mech deathball like in BW.
Maybe I'm asking for to much tho?
