Yeah at this point it seems he just prefers the risk free money more - I can understand that 100 percent as afaik MLG pays the trip to NY while DH does not, so him without a team and a "steady income" from a team, which is probably way better than only money from twitch and some sponsors/streaming - it makes a lot of sense in his situation.
I also would have loved to see him compete, but oh well at least he will be awesome at casting.

Why? Lineup is understandable - although it's really not that bad - but multiple group stages into single-elimination bracket is the best format in my opinion.

why do some groups have like 2 players?
|
The format is good, better than all those double elimintion brackets we see at MLG and IPL. It just doesn't work with 80 players, cause now the whole first day of a 2day tournament will be spend with boring matches. With 128 or 64 players this format would have been perfect. At least the 2nd day will be awesome I guess.
They really should not have invited all those noname swedes and cut it down to 64 players.

There never was any invites to noname swedes... Anyone that could pay in around 50$ could participate in the tournament so probably the reason why you find so many noname swedes.

The second day will be exciting but I understand if people will skip watching most of the first day.
DH really should have used a combination of invitations and an open qualifier instead of letting anyone signup directly into the final tournament. This way they would have an early indication of the number of accepted invitations and could adapt the total number of players by using online qualifiers (filling empty slots in the final tournament up to say 32 or 64 players).
I'll probably watch some of the first day anyway but that's only because I'm so hyped about actually going to DH for the second day

I wish tournaments would not be on the same dates all the time. mlg keeps bumping into alot of other tournies lately.

A lot of names stand out and a lot of names don't. I'm interested in seeing who will make it out of the groups and eventually win.
|
I guess I should start watching when the group stage is over looking at some of these groups.

Looking at the schedule mlg barely coincides with this. You can probably watch dreamhack and then watch mlg afterwards without missing more then a few games.

There are some hidden talents in Sweden, for example SortOf who is in a group with Lalush is currently #2 on EU GM, yet he is not mentioned anyway on the most notable players
I think this will be a tournament with some nice upsets

I will probably watch from group stage 2/3, there's probably where the interesting games will start showing up.
|
I don't get all this hate for the player list. It's about 50% 'randomers' sure but that doesn't mean they wont show some good games and there is a good chance of a few upsets. TLO to win please? (I can dream right?)

Seala (Zerg) Cytoplasm (Zerg) Jimpo (Terran) ViPro (Protoss) Fury (Terran) Forsen (Zerg) Naugrim (Zerg) SortOf (Zerg) Seiplo (Protoss) Runa (Protoss) StjarnaN (Protoss)

Seala and Seiplo have been impressing as of late in smaller tournaments and Cytoplasm was training in Korea for quite a while.

Pffff, Is that it? Couldn't they afford more? Such a letdown! J/k
Looks great, and although the first day might not be the most exciting one. This makes the chance higher for a upset. It would be funny if some of the high names got eliminated early on by a 'noname'

Cool to see Hyun there but where is Scarlett?

The true test on how good Dreamhack is how they deal with the first eight hours on day one. Looking at the first group phase, it looks bad, and by bad, I mean really, really bad. You have some groups with only two people and the big names who are actually in three player groups, are going up against players probably half their skill range. If Dreamhack can actually turn the first group phase, which looks very bleak, and makes it fun and tries to give chances to people who never in a million years would get main stage experience, it could be really good.
MLG Providence on the first day had the same problem (not as bad), but was able to make some of the games between the Koreans and diamond league foreigners pretty fun to watch with enthusiastic casting and not taking it as the most serious thing in the world.
