When sundance is out there talking to ESPN about broadcasting sc2 and you got 22 year olds like this numbskull saying such mean spirited things then it just proves the stereotype.
Many people look at gamers that sit there and watch other gamers as "losers" and whatnot and this just proves their point. This kind of stuff HAS TO STOP. GROW UP! this controversy isnt nearly widespread enough to actually spread outside the clsoe community of heavy redditers, and the TLers who jsut learned about it will also immediately see his aplogy and forget about it I really enjoyed this line (not trolling)
"From the community, forgetting is what I dream of, forgiveness is what I hope for, but understanding is what I need."
I think this statement and the punishment is more than enough and I really hope this doesn't happen any more and I also hope it doesn't ruin this guy's reputation permanently because the internet has a pretty long memory. as much as id lvoe to see him bounce and immediately start casting a big tournament i still cant get over he hasnt admitted to lieing and apologized about that too, it makes me wonder about what his personality is really like, makes me think that, as my mom would say it, sorry he got caught not sorry he offended anyone But he didn't lie. The other screens are months old. The most recent one could entirely possibly actually have been someone other than orb saying it. i havent followed it, but aparently reddit dredged up absolute rock solid proof that without a doubt Orb was the one who made the statements
besides wether he did it or not is no longer the issue, he has just admitted to doing it but not acknowledged the lieing, even something like "i paniced" would be enough

I for one have emailed every EG sponsor to tell them they should consider dropping their support of the team due to how they handled this situation. Too much hypocrisy to stomach....
Just as crappy as GOM back pedaling and revoking Nani's code S spot. If SC2 is going to be built on community full of asshats I hope its completely dead within the next few years....
And lastly to all the self righteous jack asses who have "accepted his apology" why don't you get off your high horse and go play 'hide and go fuck yourself"...
|
Didn't the original incident that started this happen two nights ago, long after Orb was hired?
|
I used to watch orbs stream once in a while and he would say stuff like that.. it really isn't even a big deal if it was before I think. But once you are int he public view i guess....

this is hilarious, your asking sponsors to drop a team for dropping an employee who lies and makes racial slurs?
what has this community come to im honestly shocked at this level of blind ignorance

Orb don't back down to them, they pay Idra to BM and market him as such. He has said the exact same things you have. You are simply a victim and nothing less. Screw EG, they bailed on you for past crimes.. I hope you find a better team to work with.

I'm sorry but this apology feels REALLY hollow after all the bullshit trying lying that it wasn't you in the first place. Also from what I've seen not the first time you've done this type of thing is it? I don't get why it should be water under the bridge and apology accepted. I don't believe it's deserving of the level of hate generated but I don't believe you should be able to just walk away from your actions with hollow words.
|
I didn't like you in the first place, and am pleased with EG's decision to release you. Grow up then try again.

I can't believe you get fired from your job and still wont just say that what you did was stupid and wrong and you were wrong for doing it. Nobody wants your excuses just your apologies. This statement just makes it seem like you care more about EG's sponsors and your own self image than the people you might have hurt or offended by your actions.
I guess you read a different post.
I really hope youre gonna get over this sooner rather than later orb

I have nothing against Orb in particular. I dont even care about the racism. What gets me is that people on battlenet are (and have always been) extremely bad mannered and now with the growth of streaming in SC2 I believe that streamers (particularly professional player and casters) should set a good example and be polite to other people. Would you walk up to someone you dont know in the street and swear at them?
|
Sad to see this get so blown out of proportion, and for you to lose this opportunity. Good luck on your future casting opportunities!
|
If this was your first response, I don't think the consequences would have been nearly as bad as they have been. Although I'm glad you came around and gave us the truth. I think most of us understand that you are not actually racist, and just threw a bit of a tantrum... it happens to everyone.
Thanks for the statement, hopefully you can put this behind you and continue a successful casting career.
|
dude i know you have to apologize like this because you had a business relationship but this thing is blown so out of proportion. If you look at chatlogs from pros throughout the community from even years ago we would have ZERO players with a contract still. Every single person has said things in their life that was wrong or punishable but what matters is how you conduct as a professional because nobody really thinks that your a racist, homophobic or anything just because you use slurwords when raging -.- this incident is not about racism its about normal human behaviour after intense stress

Totalbiscuit is such a difamator, didn't know that side of him sadly...

Its funny how he didn't comment on the fact that he is a liar.

With that being said I forgive you, and I hope you are given a second chance. Have you read any of the threads? Of course there were a lot of people thinking he was racist.
I have read every comment in every thread on TL and on Reddit about this as well as twitters of a lot of the big personalities involved and I can say the vast vast majority of people who were calling him a rascist were trolls.
It was mostly the fact that he lied and said it was "his friend" when the evidence was clear that it was him the whole time and that he had a past calling people "niggers" before.
|
Although you did did wrong, I felt like you didn't deserve that degree of hatred(especially from Reddit)
It takes a lot of guts to make a formal apology like you did here, kudos for that.
|
This apology is way too late, all that lying about teaching your friends / them playing just makes me want to laugh at your apology.
|
The people defending orb saying what he did is ok because other people do it is just astonishing. Now wanting to hurt the sponsors of EG because of what Orb brought on himself. I don't want to live here anymore.
|
I'm glad you got what you deserved.
