people need to stop posting craft like "who is he and never head of him/the team). you dont have to post in a thread you have no clue what or who it is about.
|
I thought this thread was quite funny at the start...until people started to get all serious. It was pretty obvious it was going to get the response it did so i dont get why people arn't having fun with it.
Anyways, good luck to this chap.

people can't just make announcements for people we've never heard of, for teams we've never heard of. well obviously they can since they just did it. now get out of here and take your attitude with you. You gonna tell me and the 10 other people, which is half of the thread, to get out too? Cheers mate. I don't know about him, but I will. Players such as HuK and Naniwa didn't get eFamous because they just happened to get announced, they got it because they are very skilled players, this guy is 'top 50 gm' which while being a good accomplishment is not the kind of thing which makes me jump out of my seat. Not everyone is a Naniwa or a Huk you know. That's why not every player gets a fucking ridiculous thread announcing an announcement through teaser websites and bullshit sound files. Other players get a simple thread announcing their new team. Fuck, even threads about shitty songs are still up and running, why isn't an announcement like this worth its own thread? It's about a player joining a team, the most seminal act in the SC2 scene. If you don't care about that and only about star players, I'm sorry to say but you're really superficial. And people wonder why it's so hard to break in the SC2 scene... It's because people like you don't give a shit. Wow calm down. Please what they really want to know is why this unknown team picking up a unknown player deserve a thread while a lot of other good players, and more known players, change team and don't get a thread. Ofcourse if they arn't unkown please tell me their achivements and history. Because I sure can't find anything. Happy birthday, but still if you don't know him its not his problem? Doesn't mean he is "unknown". He might be no superstar, but he's very known to me and a lot of other EU players. I still remember when TaKe / me did cast him against Startale_Rainbow and he took the game very easily so.. he is always high ranked and has good tournament runs :x If you really think he's a noname, please do your homework first before writing its not worth an announcement. Do my homework? How much do you want me to do? I enter the thread and saw a team I have never heard of announcing a player I have never heard of. From the thread I saw I was not alone in this so instead of just saying "who joins what?" I decided too actually look up the teams website. And you know what? There was nothing about the team, and nothing about the players. This is the only page on the site.
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/m061E.png) So much information! Neither the op nor the site say anything about their accomplishments. And no I don't mean beating pros on the ladder. That happens all the time. Sure it means he isn't a complete scrub, but it is not an accomplishment. Sure some people will know him I'm sure. But even if I have heard his name once and he have been casted a few times in some weekly cup, he is still a unknown. He isn't even close to Huk, Idra, Naniwa, White-ra. People who everyone can see "oh yeah they picked up him? I know what he can do and have done, cool". He IS unknown. He haven't won any major tournament, maybe some weekly or daily cups, maybe he is bigger in German, sure, but not internationally.
What I really want to say is, that if you want to announce a player, with no major record, and your team don't have any record at all either, as you can see the team isn't even active yet. They say they will start up on the first of April. If that is the case, don't you think they should mention what tournaments the player have won? What players he have beaten in those tournaments? Because 3 ladder games where he beet some really good players just are not enough. The post should be so that we, who don't know who it is can get to know him, and the team, not so that the few people who know who he is can say congratulations on joining a new started team.
Again please tell me what actual tournaments he have won and who he beat to win them. Then I can start to be impressed.

Not our responsibility to find out who the players are.
What I'm saying is that the op should present his most outstanding achievements to present the player. And their website/twitter/face-book that they link to should have even more information if you are curious. Only if we are really curious should we need to go to liquipedia and search for our self. Hell, why don't the OP link to his liquipedia? There are no reason why not, right?

Seriously, if you don't know him it just takes 5 clicks to get to his liquipedia page. Bashing him for not being a big name is not cool, like you said you don't even know him; He happens to be a very good player and ff you truly follow the scene he shouldn't be a complete nonamer.

Congrats to ELVIS, very nice guy and very good player!
|
He was really upcoming. He was getting "decent" results in offline tournaments as far as I can remember (in the Benelux), but you could see his potential. Hope he does very well in his stay with this new team and grow fast as a player.
Good luck!

You can't be serious. You're questioning the purpose of the thread without even knowing who the player is, can't you see how ridiculous is that? And on top of that, what do you exactly propose to new teams to do in order to put their name out there? Not posting a thread in the biggest SC2 website in the world?
Yes, it's the team's responsibility to present the players, but if you go to the thread to say "who the fuck is this guy" you could at least try to click on the right-side bar, type "elvis" under the Liquipedia tab and find out who he is. Contrary to what you may think, you don't need to type your stream of consciousness in every thread you read nor do people care to read what you're thinking at that specific moment. In other words, think before you post.
Btw, I'm not sure you noticed all the people in teams that came here to say how good ELVIS is. Makes you wonder who's at fault here.

By "do your homework" he means open the fucking Liquipedia, type "elvis" and see what he has accomplished, and then post. It's not that hard and it helps you from looking like an idiot coming to a thread asking "who joined who?" like a smartass. I didn't ask “who joined who”. I asked was more of “what is this team, with only one person on the roster who is fairly unknown EVEN if he have won a few weekly cups, that introduce the player the pick up the same way a established team announces the pick up of a known player and expect us to not question the team, player and thread.” It should be the teams responsibility to present the players.
Who are you to tell a team what information they should/shouldn't post when making a thread like this? You're a nobody.
If you don't like it, don't post in it.

Elvis hwaiting ! gl to you and your team !
As many has stated, Elvis is already a very good player and has the potential to blossom at the top level. He's now going to dedicate himself fully to the game what he couldn't do before and with the support of a new team, I'm very interested to see his evolution in the pro scene.
To those who haven't heard of him before, now, obviously you have.
Edit : he's streaming right now : www.twitch.tv/maggrig
