Frankly, not a whole lot since then. Apart from the installer by Kostyarik that Telenil mentioned, of course. Mostly it's just been dragging on due to the usual: work, other commitments, laziness on my part.
Portraits or unit models haven't been touched. Not yet, at least. We've included a lot of subtle cosmetic improvements, though.
By the way, we see you helping out a lot of people on the forums, which is really cool. We appreciate it.
'Not yet, at least' Hope never dies, yay! I have tried to change some portraits, but my barbarian methods were obviously not succesfull :p And thanks for you appreciation, I appreciate it ^^ But seriously, it's the least I could do (and probably, sadly, the most) to give something in return. It's not much, but the less time you have to spend anwsering these kind of questions, the more time you have for other things.
I know putting the mods/maps on the arcade has been mentioned several times, and I'm not sure I have read all the options, so if this option was already discussed, then sorry.
What if you just put the Loomings to the arcade? It was/is supposed to be the demo to the original game, hence it could be the demo to your remake. You could write something like 'Download the core campaigns for free on sc2mapster.com' or something at the end of the 5th mission, so if ppl got interested, they could download it, for they would know where to get them. It's just an idea though.

So when 5.3 does get released will it just be updated on the SC2 Mapster page for MR or will there be a different place to download it from?

I think the uploading takes a while. The cinematic mod (beta) was alone like 300 MB, which is huge, compared to the other stuff. Or they're doing some kind of last-minute bug-fixing. Or both.
But I think they'll post it on sc2mapster, and they'll notify us here as well

The maps are much polished than Loomings, and even the people who only played SC2 will instantly recognize the characters.

I think this is a really good idea. Rebel Yell really shows the best of Mass Recall, and there are doubtless tons of people who would be interested in the full version but haven't heard of it.

just found this thread today. Cant wait til 5.3 comes out & i can give Mass Recall a try. I had heard people were reworking the old missions for SC2, but i wasnt aware it was so far along. Good stuff to all those involved & I cant wait to play it. Thanks guys

Slight bug/quality of life fix that might want to be included in 5.3, time willing, if it hasn't already.
Dragoons seem to have unusually high command priority. If I have a group of Dark Archons and Dragoons selected, I have to tab to get to my Dark Archons spells.
Not a big deal, but might as well throw it out there to make MR the best it can be! =D

I haven't thought about that. I only thought about lore-wise. But yeah, that would be more practical, it's better idea. (not like you would ever need my agreement on anything though, but still..)
But with it, you could not upload the retro mod, because that would be over 200 MB I think, but from your words I assume you won't do it in the closer future..

I FINALLY got this to work, but for some reason no matter what i do, I can only get it to work but opening the map editor for each map and playing them one by one like that

Shout out to the creators of Mass Recall! Great work! Love it!!! A couple things I like so far: 1. The addition of a few Hydralisks on 'Wasteland' and the zerg units on the map randomly attacking your base. 2. "Backwater Station" is better than original with the zerg attacking you now.
One question: Does playing on easy mirror the difficulty of SC1? I've played missions on medium and hard and they were much harder than the original game.

Awesome! I went straight to multiplayer for bw 13 years ago but now I guess it's time Nice work!

One question: Does playing on easy mirror the difficulty of SC1? I've played missions on medium and hard and they were much harder than the original game. Easy is probably still harder than SC1, if only because attack waves are much more frequent. But SC1 is not very difficult by today's standards, you spend as much time fighting the UI than you do the enemy. I'm more than willing to tweak Easy if necessary, but it's difficult for me to find the proper balance because I don't know what the casual player can do. Again, anyone finding the game too difficult should say it here (and say at which level they are stuck). Also, the difficulty increases heavily over the course of each campaign, you might want to reduce it for the final 3-4 levels.

That's funny. My most recent playthrough I did Rebel Yell and Overmind on Medium until the final 2 Aiur missions, then bumped it up to Hard. On the first Aiur mission I definitely noticed the Protoss kept things a lot more interesting. Dealing with all those carrier/arbiter/scout and dragoon/reaver attacks felt a lot like a high-level 3v3 or 4v4 - never a dull moment. I'm grateful 'The Fall' was fixed difficulty wise - that one dude did make Brutal difficulty live up to its name, but really it was 2 difficulty levels above brutal in WoL IMO which was just too much. Back in 2013 I played 'The Fall' on the hardest difficulty up to the volcano mission with Tassadar that everyone said was impossible. I did find one guy in the thread who claimed to have beaten it legit but I could never get his strategy to work. I figure getting as far as I did was reasonable enough.
Almost as hard though was the zerg mission where you had to prevent the dark templar from escaping. I suspect You guys tweaked it to make it more reasonable. When I played that in '13 I should have just reduced the difficulty. Instead I reduced the gamespeed to slower and micromanaged everything perfectly and it was STILL surprisingly hard. That mission was the hardest thing in Mass Recall other than 'The Fall' which had brutal difficulty. The Dark Templar just came too many, too fast.
I also noticed the supersneaky change you made from the 2013 version of 'The Fall'. In Protoss04 The Hunt for Tassadar, you used to be able to build a second nexus behind the minerals which greatly increased harvesting rate due to the unusual mineral arrangement, also doubling probe production. The extra resources helped me get ahead of the difficulty curve on brutal/extreme/WhateverTheHardestDifficultyWas and rush the zerg base. I still think the 2nd nexus is worth it for extra production but not by much, and isn't strictly needed now that the difficulty is saner.
Anyways, I do have a small nugget to share that made me smile, you guys are starcraft experts so it shouldn't require much explanation when you think about it:

(Hint: That's the default mapstate in Zerg02. If possible, try to change the characteristic with Galaxyeditor so that lowground pylons work)

Look great! Campaigns are a good break from multiplayer. I wish blizz would come out with more of them.

Just an idea... and it is more like a cosmetic one, than a practical one, so its priority is like...really low..... and I don't know if it's even possible or not. After all, Mass Recall is fanmade, therefore I or anyone else can't expect you to make everything totally perfect.
So, there is the map in WoL, where Tassadar speaks to Zeratul, and there is a cutscene, which shows the rebirth of Kerrigan. She comes out of that cryshalis with so much grace and elegancy (In my opinion.). If there was a way to implement that trigger (for I suppose it is a trigger, but not sure) to the map 'Agent of the Swarm', that would be really cool. But then again, I do not know it it's even possible, or if is, then it could require more work than it worth.
|
Also, on the subject of completely cosmetic changes I was poking around the files on SC2 mapster in terms of assets and I came across a really great portrait of Dugalle complete with UED hat made by a person named Thrikodias (http://www.sc2mapster.com/assets/dark-protoss/files/178-dugalle-portrait) and I honestly have no idea how much work it would be off of that asset to craft and make a talking portrait for the briefings/cutscenes it just always struck me that the present portrait of Dugalle looked kind of infested. Given that Earth was supposed to be hotly anti-alien it was always a tad immersion breaking to see that. But again, it's a very small and completely cosmetic change that doesn't really in the scheme of things matter.

After finishing the campaign, I noticed an enormous amount of replays from Mass Recall. I tried loading one of them and it actually works! I guess I could watch my playthroughs again if I wanted... It looks as if Starcraft II automatically concatenates new replays onto old ones from saved games. My hunch would be this was added mainly to support progamers resuming matches after disconnects or retrying difficult situations for practice. This might be an interesting feature for speedrunners, or someone who just wanted to show off an exceptionally brilliant way to beat a mission.

When the 5.3 version will be available? ( And will there be a french version?)

A few bugs I found:
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/1OGpu5n.jpg)
This happens when you start a Spore/Sunken and cancel it. I've worked a little bit with this model for a mod of my own and I believe it's got something to do with how the progress actors interact with the model file itself, but I was unable to fix it as I don't know how to edit models yet. You're probably already aware but I figured I'd bring it to your attention anyway.

Kerrigan said this again when the victory screen showed up. It was kind weird. (If it helps, I killed Duke after the last building that run.)

I'm trying to install this, and its giving me this error.
Your Starcraft II game account does not have access to the singleplayer features. If you would like access to the Starcraft II campaign, challenges, and single player custom games, you must purchase the full version of Starcraft II
I have only WoL, is this an issue?
