About the interview, I was disappointed. Not only by the softball questions, but by Gus' dodging the ones that weren't softballs. She asked about the HoN tournament and he just said there wasn't time. Ok, well the follow up to that is "so where's the 2000 dollars?" but we didn't hear that asked. And, realistically, if she had asked things like that, he probably would have just hung up the phone. Still would have been nice to have her ask though.
And for those saying he's just incompetent and got in over his head, I have to disagree. Simply because there were 5 people he was supposed to send, and he told them up until two days before the event that he was sending them, and he didn't. Because he took YYJ's spot and gave it to Syckness after trying to give it to Moonglade. And, most importantly, because he asked Amanda and Clive to secure debt that, according to what he said on the show, he already knew he couldn't pay for. He willingly put Amanda and Clive on the wrong end of the law, knowing exactly what the consequences to both of them would be. If not for this community and IPL, Amanda would be in a world of hurt right now, cause you know Gus wouldn't have the money by the 21st. And then you add in all the things he's said in the various transcripts you can find in the various threads about this debacle, and it paints a very clear picture of an arrogant, selfish narcicist who cared more about hobnobbing with the SC2 celebs then about creating a brilliant event. And he cared more about pushing HIS league and HIS clan to the forefront then he did about the SEA scene as a whole. He is simply a poor excuse for a person, all the way around. Very well said.

Shel you really did nail it my friend... That was brilliant.

I'm an IT technician, I have a diploma in Network Administration, and my cisco CCNA certificate. I work full time as an IT Technician and a Network manager.
There's two types of RJ-45 cables, like you said, rigid and flexible. Nowaday, RJ-45 cable are so cheap (check on monoprice.com, for example.) that it's almost impossible to buy "rigid" one, at least here in Canada. You can buy a 100 FT cable for like 10$. And, EVEN if it was actually some old rigid cable, stepping on them is no problem, bending them is the issue. The "litte copper wire" in them are really resistant to pressure and shock, they are just so solid and rigit, that they can't be bend. And if you bend them, they broke, and the cable is just not working at all anymore. And yes, an office chair rolling on a copper cable could cut it, but then the cable would just not work at all (and that's probably why you were replacing them) it would not cause lag.
And, for god sake, if they really used some old rigit copper RJ-45 on the ground where people could bend/step on them, they are just retarded or fully ignorant.
Seriously, it's the worst excuse I ever heard about network lag, ever.
Well... after the "Light was too strong on the fiber" one that an old IT told me...

After sitting back and waiting for a response from Gus, and finally getting something on CSN, I am sincerely dissapointed.
I understand that Seltzer (where did you get that name by the way?) had to use "kid-gloves" or not get an interview at all, but this guy needs to answer some hard questions.
Regardless of this situation, the important thing is to not have a scandal of this magnitude happen again.
It seems like nobody wants a Kespa type organization looking over everyones shoulders, but realistically, isn't it necessary? At what point do we say "SC2 esports has grown to the point where we need a global organization to make sure this all runs smoothly" ?
|
sorry but as a business owner myself: "we didn't have enough time to make the necessary preparations in coordinating the logistics and various minor details" is simply unforgivable, and just points to a lack of commitment or organizational skills.

After waiting so long to hear from this douche bag none of the major questions got answered. Just some guy coming out and acting like an arrogant selfish person.
P.S where is that idiot from AZK who said when gus came out and explained everything the entire teamliquid community would be shown to look like ignorant scrubs?

Guys, the real message of that interview was hidden! I think all the "uhhs" and "umms" were morse code! QUICK! SOMEONE DECODE!

Dear Gus,
Provide receipts/bank statements of how and where you overspent, and i will fully evaluate my stance on how you "overspent"

"Overspent" means you pocketed the money and said fudge you to everyone else. Its a hidden meaning, duh.

You might wanna read this..
AZKZiek is currently on the stream chat claiming that Dox is lying without actually saying what exactly he thinks Dox is lying about.
EDIT: He's also insulting just about everyone on the stream chat.

I liked what was stated in SOTG to Artosis. we cannot judge the Phillipine esports community for the actions of one Gus

From what I've heard, the only people that believe this will hurt the SEA scene is people from SEA. They're worried about their ability to get sponsors.
On the cord thing, I have no idea what's out there now. I bought that spool maybe 12 years ago, and it was just when cat 3 or cat 4 came out, so it had that "new tech" price. But I do know that just because one wire breaks, doesn't mean they all do. I can't really say for sure that a few wires breaking causes lag. My thinking was that if a network card has one less wire then it needs, that the packets will travel over the 3 wires causing lag when the card tries to find a fourth wire. Or that, possibly, a split wire will transfer data across the space between wires. Maybe they have partial contact or something. But, like I said, I have no idea if any of that is possible or not.

Then why would you use it as a clarification of a misguided statement?

Why on earth would you feel sorry for someone who digs their own grave, hops into it, and then adamantly refuses to get out of it when we ask him to?!
We have given him SO many chances to apologize. There is no redemption for him at this point.

Even if no one discriminates against Gus, there naturally is no place for Gus for any deal where there are multiple candidates.

This is completely and utterly incorrect.
Please read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100BASE-TX#100BASE-TX
Also note that Cat 5e cable uses 24 gauge copper wire that typically, to quote wikipedia, "can be bent at any radius exceeding approximately four times the diameter of the cables". It's not easy to break.
If they had Cat5 cables running at lengths greater than 100 feet then they may have run into trouble, but otherwise this had nothing to do with it.
And you are referring to the difference between stranded and solid wiring within the cat 5 cables. Solid ones can be used everywhere if need be, I've never heard of anyone breaking the wires inside.

I can eat a can of alphabet soup and shit out a better apology statement than that. dispicable to the esports scene.

I like (actually disliked) how when asked a simple yes or no question, he completely ignored it, refused to answer it, and started rambling off excuses.
Question: Did you have a detailed financial plan going into this? Answer: We ran out of money.
Ok, but did you have a plan or not motherfucker? We KNOW the money ran out, we want to know why and how! Did you just haphazardly seek sponsor money and hope that it would cover everything? Or did you actually have a planned delegation of funds, and things occurred that disallowed you to follow this plan?
The answer of course is, NO, he didn't have a detailed financial plan going into this. Zero math was done ahead of time to see if the event could actually be paid for. But he'll refuse to admit it, and instead continue to rattle off the same old tired line of "we ran out of money" without ever explaining why they ran out of money.
