"E-sports" is a joke. TL was not an "e-sports" site for a long time. In fact, as it says right at the top, TL is a STARCRAFT PROGAMING site.
That people considered BW to be a sport in kr is, well, a technicality. It was for discussion about the game, how to play the game, which players were good at the game, and how we could watch and support them. There was no onus on community members to promote the game to a wider audience, or in other words be pro-growth.
What BW supporters essentially want is to make the we loved game better. SC2 did not deliver that game. We complain in the hope that someone out there will be listening. I believe that if the game is refined for competitive play to a high degree, viewership will naturally rise as a result. But the priority lies with the GAME. The GAME makes the competition, not vice-versa. If the game is shit, we have the right to say so.
Most of the new people in this site have the opposite mindset. They think that if enough people watch the game online, it will magically transform into the best competitive RTS ever. But history will tell you otherwise. All they want nowadays is to have more people watch SC2 and strangely enough, even promote inane online games (LoL?)...and contribute to the mass appeal of these dumbed-down crowd pleasers.
Focus on the game first.

Oh shit, we need a translator right now. But I'm starting to get worried, if they mix BW and SC2 on Proleague, all of them will be hybrids? Or some will switch over while others will remain solely on BW?

How is that elitist? I don't think anyone - even the most staunch sc2 supporter - would argue that it's even near the game BW is right now, but rather for it's potential.

some sick players on that list. i hope they are truly going to switch to sc2 soon.

In what way is it? My opinion is BW is a better competitive game than SC2, and I accept (and respectfully disagree with) opinions to contrary.
But what I cannot accept or respect is the idea of "LOLLL MORE N MORE PEOPLE WATCH SC2 = GOOD!!! THAT WILL MAKE IT THE BEST COMPETITIVE RTS EVAR!!!"
Seems like if I hold an event called shady's backyard SC2 tournament offering free beers to the winner, people will just blindly support it for no reason at all.

Been waiting for this announcement for ages! MVP and Nestea will probably be irrelevant after HotS (Probably the time BW players will make debut) if BW players are as skilled as they've been hyped to be. Hopefully all the fangirls come to SC2 aswell, it's quite a sausage fest for SC2 in terms of fan base .

Oh please, take your strawman arguments and get out of this thread.

Puma and Light were talking about Puma's red hair (if my skills at Google Translate tell me anything)
Twitter exchanges are regular between BW and SC2 progamers btw, so it won't really tell much.

omg Jaedong to oGs would be epic
I heard something about Jaedong being without a team in Broodwar, is that still the case? If so, I could see him being tempted to switch.

I think this is good for competition. And with the introduction of the Proleague these SC:BW monsters will be able to really stake their claim quickly. Winner's league will be the more volatile competition, allowing new players to showcase their ability to break into the professional realm with SC2.
Since SC2 is a more international game than was SC:BW, it allows for more exposure of the players. Previously, the only way to know about SC:BW was if you had played the game prior, or knew about the Koreans. With SC2 being already more global than SC:BW, it's worth their investment of time to become acquainted with the game early on.

I don't know what you are arguing about but this sounds like one of the most entertaining tournaments ever, was this supposed to be joke? I would definitely support this, and probably attend as well. I mean come on, SC2 and free beer?!
