I can see it now, the death of the 4 gate comes with HotS Woot!, finally ! but in all seriousness what need would you have to power high ground buildings? O cannon rushes... What about warping to the high ground when you don't have vision? Probably a 4 gate rush... Warp prisms are nice for that thou so I do not see the 4 gate completely dieing off just altered and harder to accomplish.

Seems somewhat unnecessary, and more blurring between the difference between creep and pylon power.
Hopefully at least we can still warp/power stuff from the high ground onto the low ground. Would hate to be unable to warp in reinforcements from the edge of my base.

Cheese exists in high level play, perhaps even more than at lower levels. WBC did very well at MLG Anaheim with cannon rushes, eliminating FXO Oz (recent Code A finalist) and taking a game off Socke on his way to finishing 21st. He also beat Incontrol on consolation matches.

Or use the 3g + VR to punish Marauder Expands

What "high level play" do you watch?

I haven't missed a GSL match, or MLG stream, and even most NASL/IPL games in months, and I can think of many games that this would have totally impacted.

Highground Warpins with Stargate units providing vision have been used in a fair amount of high-level PvZs, both as a means of harassment as well as in all-ins.

Although, I guess I should be used to Blizzard removing Protoss options just for the hell of it by now. :/

Seriously though, I don't see this as a necessary change.
Now we are both in the club of "people who caught mice and asked IRC what to do". Mine was caught face first on a glue trap though, but his back legs were free and he was pushing the trap all over my house. I ended up drowning him. - Lemonwalrus

i really dont think its that big of a deal, i understand it removes some strategies, but i think blizz just wants toss to use the Warp Prism more.

Thats not a solution that is a band aid. I honestly think that Dusty and David Kimchi has an idea behind these changes and as stated many times WG is a design flaw.

Saying a warp prism fills the same need as pylon strategically is a stupid conclusion to reach from this change. Prism requires you to go down a certain tech path (as if toss weren't already reliant on the robo enough).
Also a mobile prism versus a static pylon serve two different needs/purposes strategically.
