SOOOO much AOE, battles will last 0.5seconds at this rate when we get to the protoss expansion.

This is kinda stupid, aoe damage make microing pointless as well.

I think the protoss units are interesting but I also think it's very hard to make them work well in competative play. I guess we will see what Blizzard can do with them.

Problem with that is with Hallucination, you dont get storm and such. If replicon is cheap than 1 HT or 1 DT, you can essentially make a (cheaper) archon, a cheaper storm army, etc. So long as these replications dont have a stupid timer.

I wonder what's the range on that last Viper spell. I can just see it now: use the viper to pull a colossus, fungle the army, kill colossus. Or even better: pull observer, snipe it 0_0

I agree. And in particular this "replicant" unit seems utterly useless unless it's cheap enough that you can chrono it out to quickly clone more expensive units. All three of the new Toss units just seem gimmicky.

it's not hold position it's "stop lurkers", where you either issue an attack on a unit out of range, or spam stop so they don't attack. it was used to hide the fact that your lurkers were there until a huge clump of units was over their splash attack, thus maximizing damage.
If you grouped lurkers with another unit, usually an overlord, and hit hold they wouldn't attack

oh i finally get it now lol. you just spam the stop or hold hotkey until units are in a good position to be killed from aoe(maximize damage).

The new Protoss units sound pretty awful. Instead of the Carrier, we get a functional equivalent that does AtA splash vs light? So it's useful against mass Mutas, and what else? That is assuming you can't magicbox it, which you probably can.

The Replicant is probably the most gimmicky unit possible. What exactly is the point of having something like that? What function is it supposed to serve in a typical game? It will either barely be used, or will end up wildly overpowered and repeatedly nerfed.

The Oracle is the only unit that sounds somewhat reasonable, though pretty underwhelming. The reason Terran and Zerg harass is good, is because their "harass" units like Mutas or Hellions can be used as part of their army effectively. Oracle sounds like another gimmick, especially since it's apparently built from a Stargate, which was already a gimmicky tech path with no stable midgame.

Curious to see how these new units interact with other changes to the game, but very underwhelmed for the time being.
