This means that although all news is posted here, people come here for more than just news. There should be a separate site created with just results. I don't think anyone could overtake TL.net in this regard but maybe TL could create a website that is focused on just news and then take results posted on TL.net and delete them. If anyone would want to know what scores were then they could visit TL's "sport" site. yeah I kind of overlooked the fact that TL is a community site, and not a news site. It would be an amazing idea for TL to have a separate site for Tournament content. I dont necessarily agree that people who are driving the whole "spoiler alert man!!!" get to dictate that I have to wait almost a week for a good writeup on TL about a tournament that I don't really care about anymore because a new one is coming up this weekend. I think it would be amazing to wake up and read espn, and catch up on SC tournament content rather than just place liquibets and wade through hundreds of "+show spoiler+" to find out who won a first round open bracket game because someone doesn't want it "spoiled."

In traditional sports, if you miss the TV broadcast(s) then there's no guarantee that you'll be able to watch the game anyway. Sites then operate on the assumption that you've seen the games, or you missed them and want the results. Here, since VODs are provided by most big tourneys, (and in BW I could find most of the OSL/MSL VODs on youtube), the community doesn't operate on the assumption that everyone watched the game at one set time. I think it's a good practice, and something that makes esports different from traditional sports. IMO this should be edited into the OP, among with any other good replies, and probably with a new poll to see what people think having heard all sides [include a dont care for starters] + Show Spoiler [completely random tangent] + On October 13 2011 01:42 -Archangel- wrote: I voted yes in the poll. When I watch football (the real football), I want to immediately read articles about it and talk with people openly about it. I hate all this "put spoilers or else altitude here on TL". Agreed, Aussie rules is just that good ^_^

For us spoilers are hurting no one and are helping the people who don't want spoilers. I for example, use TL for much more than just SC2. If I couldn't catch a finals and there was a huge headline on the TL front page that would spoil it for me. Just because spoilers don't affect how excited you get while watching a game doesn't mean that other people feel the same way. The results aren't even in an obscure area, anyone can find them with ease especially if its a huge tournament. On October 13 2011 00:43 drcatellino wrote: I know that there is still a small amount of TLers that really don’t want to be spoiled at all This is so biased.. Are you capable of showing me the number of people who like spoilers vs the people who don't? Even if someone doesn't care about spoilers for most of the players and there is just that one player that they love and don't want their epic matches to be spoiled, then they care about spoilers because you can't pick and choose which matches are going to have spoilers. On October 13 2011 01:46 Toriko wrote: The lack of news takes the excitement out of the scene for me. What lack of news? It still exists.. There's this section of the forums called "SC2 Tourneys" that kinda has everything you need to know. It's in its own little area because this forum is not only for SC2 Tourneys as you can see by the numerous sections other than "SC2 Tourneys."

Even then, unless you're someone like Artosis and you're 100% devoted to starcraft and intend to watch every single game, chances are you will never have the time to do that. I hope TL intends to do something about this, or at least release an official statement explaining their reasoning. Even an official poll would be useful (can show that the no spoiler policy would do more harm than good if it caters only to 15% of community for example)

I just deal with it the same way I deal with not being able to watch some more traditional sporting events that I happen to enjoy; by recognizing that I can't watch everything, there's too much content for me to consume, and I go on with my day sometimes just by knowing the results. What's wrong with e-sports being different from traditional sporting events if this difference is an advantage? As I said before, the solution would be spoiler-free vods at one place and headlines/hype at another - rather than each side trying to dictate to the other how proper e-sports enjoyment looks like. Side note: it's not about watching "everything", it's about watching what you're interested in. An essential feature of the internet - getting content when you want it and not only when it happens to be broadcast.

Sort of sidebar here: Are there any websites that are dedicated SC2 Tournament results/news/opinions? How do they fair? I love the front page articles on Cstarleague.com

Add the fact that there's a ton of SC2 events going on at any one time, and I don't think it's unreasonable to keep from spoiling things for a little while. I spent the weekend watching IPL, so I didn't have time to watch the GSTL. It was nice to be able to go back and watch the GSTL VoDs without having spoilers on the front page. Complaining about being spoiled on reddit or on twitter is stupid, but having spoilers on the front page of TL would be dumb.

Spoilers really don't mean much, if you look up at how well your favourite sports team did the night before or someone tells you the result are you upset? Not really you just say that is awesome how my team won or how it sucks they lost and you move on.

Its also the producer being bad at posting VoD's, I think IPL doesn't have the spoiler free vods on there site yet for example.

I have a strong doubt that there are many people who get something more out of watching "unspoilered" games, and who care about that to the extent that they'll refuse to watch games with spoilers. Often enough the games are spoiled by the vods themselves (order, number, etc), and besides when you're not watching it live the result has already happened anyway. Plus, as someone said earlier in the thread said, you watch games to see the gameplay and appreciate the strategy, not just to find out who wins. Edit: why not just have "teamliquid.net/nospoilers" which has the "tourneys" fora hidden in the sidebar and links you to the community fora?
