best of luck to cArn but those who think GOM should give him more assistance or even a code a spot "just because" are absolutely delusional. every player needs to earn their way and some are just not good enough to break through but that doesnt mean they should be given sympathy and freebies... Agreed. Gom isn't running a homeless shelter. That isn't very nice... But its true. Hes not even a Code B player from what i've seen of him on stream. There's many foreigners out there who are better than cArn and bring more hype for GOM and its sponsors so why should GOM sacrifice a bed in their team house just because hes a nice guy? It sucks that he hasn't made it yet and probably will never make due to his lack of success ever since entering korea it but that doesn't mean we should be sympathetic and give him free housing (and who knows how long hes planning to stay really...) or free code A spots for his remainder in korea when there are players out there having to place damn high in MLG or win a spot via code B just to obtain an elusive code A spot Point is, the GOM house is meant for promising foreign players that have either proven themselves via tournament wins, ladder hype, some sort of team sponsorship deal which makes them a hot commodity or players who fly in for special events such as korea vs the world or any other foreigner based event GOM might host. cArn does not fit any of those requirements. So at this point, cArn has overstayed his welcome at the GOM house from the looks of it. he hasnt made any breakthroughs in a year, hasn't qualified for code a, hasn't won any online tournaments (that im aware of), isint tearing up the korean GM ladder like SaSe is, doesn't have any notable wins in the last 2 months etc etc. Im by no means trying to be rude, but some players simply are not good enough and fall off the map. This has become the case for cArn. I always want to see a foreigner do well and make it big, but it isint going to happen with this dude and GOM has realized that and revoked his welcome. He should really venture back to europe where he might have more success financially competing in a large amount of online tournaments and go back to korea once his skill matches that of the korean players if he is not able to find a team house willing to take him. True, foreigners are showing such great results, like losiing 1st round of code A (wich is easier than code b). Indeed, nani deserves way more than carn by not winning a single map on GSL ? (against FD, who never defeated carn on ladder). Fanboyism to a whole other level, just because carn is well liked doesnt mean he deserves anything he cant earn.
Naniwa won an MLG. SaSe is owning up the KR ladder @ GM and korean teams are showing major interest along with foreign teams. Thorzain did fairly well for himself + got many kills in the GSTL HuK = self-explanitory. A consistent Code-S player and a very well-liked hyped player who has multiple foreign tournament wins under his belt including DH and Homestory. Jinro = Multiple RO4/RO8 in Code-S (slump atm but still 100x better than cArn) IdrA = Multiple RO8 appearances SelecT = RO16 Code A Sjow = RO16 Code A Fenix = A couple of GSTL wins currently in the IM team house after being picked up by a pro-team.
(im sure i missed a few)
So again to compare, what do the players listed above have over cArn? Oh right! They either have tournament wins, hype, invites, previous success which allows them to retain some form of prestige, are backed by teams and sponsors etc etc
What does cArn have? A couple of Code B wins? Last I heard he got knocked out by oGsCezanne in his latest Code B match. As for his latest ladder results? The last VODs listed on his stream show him ranked 9th in platinum and LOSING vs platinum players. And before that he was diamond and losing vs diamond/platinum.
So really I dont understand how you can make an argument for a Platinum/Diamond level foreigner over ANY of the foreigners I have listed above. You are really dense to even try -_-

cArn fighting!! Good luck, so glad you are competing in this. Been missing your stream!

Definitely glad to hear that cArn is getting some recognition. Can't wait to see him perform at ESWC!
P.S. I can't help but point out that you butchered the spelling of Morocco, unless I'm missing something? No one has said anything, so maybe I am missing something :O

Wow, i have just realised that his name is c a r n, and not c a m.

I read in this thread that Carn beats MKP and FruitDealer on ladder, but he's ranked 9th in platinum league? Someone is wrong here?

Thank god I'm not the only one who thought that :-o Yeah, I'm pretty sure they mean Morocco.

he works so hard that he deserves this! well done cArn!

That doesn't make any sense, you can't even compete in code B unless you're masters or above on the Korean ladder.

Non-Koreans can enter the tournament regardless of their placement on the Korean ladder.

Used to watch his stream haven't seen him stream for a while now :X gl

Doesn't he have a team that supports him or is it just that he couldn't train for personal reasons ? Anyway really nice that we'll see him outside of korea cause he has never made it to Code A but that doesn't mean he's bad as the Code A qualifiers are one of the hardest ever. Since he was kicked out from GOM, he has no place to really train, his team support him and allow him to stay in korea, but as he's not in a gaming house he has a terrific connect and nowhere to really train. He'll be back in cybercoffe really soon ^^. eSahara contacted few teams to try to have a sit in their houses, but no responses and GOM don't seems to care at all (but they help other foreigners, giving them a free spot to A code, finding them a house...) If someone has a house in korea tell me, we need somewhere to make cArn play he really needs it ^^
For someone trying to be the mans PR manager, you're not doing a very good job. The "other foreigners have been treated better" argument doesn't work at all. They were invitees with outside accomplishments. cArn has no titles, no past qualifications and a problematic nick (same as the much more famous 1.6 player). I would say GOM were generous to let him stay in the 'caster house' for as long as they did.
Mind you - i wouldn't have made this reply had you not made a point of his alleged martyrdom. You should have kept it at everyone congratulating a beloved underdog and hard worker for his inspirational struggle to make it in Korea and being invited to ESWC.
|
finally we get to see if all that hardwork was actually worth it. I think a lot of peopel have wanted to see his skill level for a while now.
|
hopefully he will do well and prove anybody saying hes rubbish wrong.
Hope he does well and finds a place to stay!!!! Good Luck!!!

If he's being matched up against MKP and FD on ladder I highly doubt he's fucking Platinum/Diamond. You call them fanboys, but you're just blindly hating without knowing anything about the guy. You're a terrible person and I hope you feel terrible for being an asshole.
|
He doesn't deserve it imo, very subpar player for the opportunities he has had in the past, terrible attitude too.

U really think he's platinium ? :o how can a platinium/diamond player could reach 1k viewer on stream ? ^^
And he had opportunity to stay less than a month in foreigner house, don't tell me gom did everything to help him -_-

gl cArn, i hope he shows what hes got
|
Some of you here that are really his fans, if you really like him, you should tell him to quit SC2 and do something with his life. One year is enough to prove SC2 is not for him. It was a nice adventure but it's time to let it go...
(I guess you could let him get demolished in this tournament by the lesser and not hyped players already qualified. But after that...)

Congrats, cArn! I hope you will be able to show some excellent games.
