Seriously, with such a small player list, if you get lucky with the bracket, this might be a better oppertunity for a random AC visitor to make money then the average casino game. I'm quite surprised. I've been at a mtg grand prix a few years ago and there are a lot of people that just like the competative environment of such an event, while realising they have zero chance to win (like me). I would have though more casual players (or local player) would attend, even if it's just to get knocked out of the tournement by a notable player. Maybe ladder is enough of a competative setting for people not to care about a IRL tournement? Or maybe there is too little randomness for people to even want to try there luck. I really hope the spectator passes don't sell at the same low rate, because i would like to see IPL4 as a IRL tournement as well. which reminds me that i still have to get my IGN Prime subscription for the panels and stuff. | ||

I think it's you who don't understand. True the open bracket can accept 256 players, but if you look at the list there are only 64 or so. Winning 2 bo3 (before loosing 2 bo3) should guarantee a place in the top 17. I don't think there are many tourney where you can make 1000$ so easily, especially if you consider most of those players are not even pro. | ||

Could you elaborate on how there are 256 players in the open bracket? The list in this thread, which seems to be complete, consists of 64 players. Which means you have to win 2 rounds to get top 16 and earn 1000$. | ||

MLG got same tournament format and Open Bracket is always almost full, so even if 3 days before IPL3 there is like 60 people signed it doesnt mean its closed list. Edit: Ok nvm, I just saw in rules "60$ entry fee to open bracket" thats why they will not fill 256 spots for sure, but still to get to championship bracket and get 1000$ you will have to win at least 2x bo3 with well-known players... | ||
