But if the bracket is completely random (and i don't think they have a ranking they can rely on) it's possible that all top players are consentrated in one half of the bracket. IIRC MLG uses a ranking system to create the bracket... this will result in a more balanced bracket (with exception of first time Koreans) and make it less likely a nobody reaches the later stages of the tournement. I'm not aware of a similar system for IPL3. Well, even if a "no name" does make it to the RO32. They will just face one of the invitees or pre-tournament qualifiers from pool play and almost definitely be eliminated in the RO32. Although I sure do hope they seed based on TLPD International ELO or something like that. Everyone not in the database should be treated as ELO = 0 and then randomly put into the brackets are the rest have been seeded. But I won't be too upset if its completely random. There are only maybe a dozen players in the open bracket that have a legit chance of going deep into the championship bracket. So as long as the majority of them don't eliminate each other in Round 1/2 of the open bracket it's not a big deal. And even then, there are maybe 5 players in the pool that are contenders to actually win. The open bracket is nice and cool. But I don't think it attracted the player pool I (or anyone else) was hoping it would. I'm honestly surprised more europeans didn't come over.

Because theoretically, you can make it to the round of 16, lose in the winners bracket, then immediately lose again in the losers bracket falling to 17+ place so you don't advance.Could you elaborate on how there are 256 players in the open bracket? The list in this thread, which seems to be complete, consists of 64 players. Which means you have to win 2 rounds to get top 16 and earn 1000$. So given a 64 man bracket you would need to win at least 3 rounds. And of course, more people can sign up still so some people will need to win an additional round.
