We need a facking international governing body that enforces some sort of free agency.

If studying history teaches anything at all, it should be not to trust the French.
On a serious note, what exactly was his reason for choosing to stay with a team that has supplied him with very little as instead of joining a team that promises to send him around the world and let him live in Korea to train, like he wanted.

There is no way for this to end well for either party. I dont give 2 shits if a contract is in American style or French style, a contract NEEDS to be a contract. I can respect Stephano's decision not to join coL. What I cannot respect is the fact that he engaged in a contract and then backed out of it. If he was not ready to sign, he should not have signed. To make matters worse, instead of actually going to complexity and trying to work something out, it seems as though he decided to just back out and leave all communication to Mill, so of course this is going to have to come down to some sort of legal battle. Stephano left both sides no choice.
People need to take a step back and actually think about what is going on. If it helps, pretend that the teams are the other way around and mill is the one who got slighted if your a mill fan. If mill actually gets their way, it could very easily be them who actually DOES get shafted the next time.

Just take a break, cold shower, fap if necessary, then come back and see what happens. Stephano Changed his mind the next day... or soon after.. This probably means he was pressured into signing and if multiple people who posted here are right about French law then CoL. cannot sue Stephano and/or Millenium for Changing his mind because there is a 1 month grace period since the beginning of contract initiation. If he did indeed bind himself to a Contract. And if CoL wants to take Legal action against Millenium they have bad intentions in mind since Stephano probably never wanted to be on Team Complexity.. reason being he ended up choosing to stay with Millenium...
I think you keep missing the part where he had 18 nights, 18 cold showers, 18 fap sessions to think it over. That is not what we call "pressured"

He then executed a legally binding contract with our organization. He seemed genuinely excited to be a part of our organization and joined our private Skype channel to chat with the team before going to bed. This is not a signature but a verbal agreement. I do not think Col has received the signed contract from what I understand. So for me, Col made the announcement too early without having received the signed contract. Also in French law, there is a time to retract. Gogo Stephano! T,T "He then executed a legally binding contract with our organization."Also verbal agreements are binding, while hard to prove, they are still legally binding. Also French Law doesn't necessarily apply here. Can people please stop thinking its that simple. "He lives in France therefor French law > all". No, not in a situation like this. This is actually not really correct (I dont know French law, but I doubt you know it either). If I "agree/sign" a contract here in Germany over telephone/internet I can retract it in a certain timeframe (2 weeks iirc). Signing/agreeing to something verbally over skype would definitely fall under this. If they used a notary it's of course different. There's also the problem with the legal period of notice (sic?). Even if the contract is legal he can probably leave after a very short time (1month normally), doesnt matter what the contract says (again German law). Again that's my point, you are just reinforcing what I'm trying to say. I don't know French law, you don't know french law. You don't know whether French law applies here, nor do I. Just like you I'm merely using the limited education in international law i've had (as of yet..) and contractual law that holds true in Sweden, just like this guy is doing. The entire point is you don't know if you can apply french law on this and say "lol this doesn't hold up". Even in a case of an international contract, it's the french judge that will handle the situation, unless it was specified otherwise in the contract (which we can't know).

BTW, Millenium's manager is saying on stream right now that he doesn't intend to send Stephano in international event more than he used to, and will focus on the french scene.

He didn't want to be on the team, they were cool with it, and they went their separate ways. Did they force Destiny to give them money to get out of his contract? Stephano Doesn't want to be on the Team and it appears with the laws in France... Stephano can legally breach/break his contract within 1 month of the legally binding day.
If he didn't want to be on Complexity, DON'T SIGN A CONTRACT! Don't talk with them and waste their time for eighteen days. If he signed a contract, even if it isn't valid, it's still his fault that this mess is happening. If he wanted to get the most money out of Millenium, he should have never signed a contract with Complexity.
It's silly that we're acting like Stephano is a victim. In the worst case scenario, and he plays for Complexity, he's making tons of cash, gets to go to Korea to practice with DongRaeGu, and gets to go to MLG's and try out for the GSL. How awful! I can't believe Complexity is trying to make this kid do all those things!

These stories have more drama than a "reality" show.

I want to see a statement by Stephano really. If he is man enough to sign a contract and then tear it open he bloody hell should be man enough to explain to us why he did it!

A situation like this (local laws) even occurs at the most expensive markets around the world (pharma, software, patents). The only thing that could be somewhat leading is a gentlemen's agreement but even that is not legally binding in any form.
Nearly every sport has such an organization.
Are French laws even applying here? Or do the laws of the country complexity is from?

If this turns out to be true then I won't be cheering for Stephano anymore.

Maybe they should have talked to Mills coach first.
On a more serious note its a shame that coL went from being a powerhouse team yesterday to an average one with a partnership with MVP. Must be very frustrating but they'll be able to pick up the pieces. Esp. if stephano stays with Mill and they clear up that salary.

Millenium's manager also said on stream that he knows that there is a signed contract, not only a verbal agreement.

Legally, I highly doubt that col. can do anything, and I don't even understand why they would want to.
Teams are competing among themselves, and the one with the best offer wins. The looser should just accept their defeat, if they can't make a better offer.
They didn't get a chance to make a better offer, they had the best offer, Stephano signed and THEN he decided he wanted to stay with Mill, I doubt coL was given the chance to counter-offer again after that. Players really can't be untoucheble, it will only create an unproffesional environment.
If Stephano wasn't originally under contract with Mill. he isn't obligated to give them time to make a counter-offer. Stephano could have just as easily taken a worse offer from coL, if he so chose to. It is amusing to me that Mill would bring up this point.

from a french law website Si vous êtes un salarié de nationalité française, la compétence sera donnée au tribunal français même si le contrat est conclu et exécuté à l'étranger.
rough translation : if you are french, a french court will rule, even if you signed a foreign contract
edit : oops someone was quicker Anyway, this whole mess is kinda bad for Stephano (in term of image, looks like some immature kid)

yeah that booming french scene, where players grow and prosper.

If Mill has done nothing wrong, idk why they wouldnt respond to Col attempts to contact them and try to resolve this. Like Col said they dont want a player who doesnt want to be there.
And anyone excusing Stephano in the situation is wrong. Hes 18 years old, he came make his own decisions and live with them
