I most countries around the world a contract is valid as soon as you agree to it (by putting your signature on it).
But hearing about there having been negotiations from both sides with offers and counteroffers it's pretty obvious that in this case that both Stephano and Mill are to blame here.
Stephano signed a contract and then broke it. Mill are blatantly lying about Complexity and trying to get the community on their side instead of presenting facts as they are.
Shame on them I say.

Lol Esports drama. Its no surprise that the big established esports organizations are trying to buy players and push out all the SC2 upstart teams. I'm surprised it has taken this long.
As much as I hate to say it, SC2 needs some sort of Kespa like organization. Not with the same powers and ridiculous power tripping as Kespa, but some sort of centralized organization that oversee and set regulations on player transfers. A lot of teams are showing no remorse and have no qualms with doing whatever it is they feel like, and often, at to the loss of the smaller teams.
There needs to be some sort of program in place to either insure that teams are able to hold onto their players, or get properly compensated for players leaving to pursue the big money.

One thing we have to remember is that almost all these players are still kids or young adults. We all made stupid ass mistakes at those times and NBA, NFL, college sports etc still run into massive problems with athletes in legal and illegal decision making. This isn't to say that we can't criticize people for their decisions because we can. We just have to remain understanding that when dealing with such a young esport in SC2 and most players make barely any money playing; an 18 year old giving his life for a video game might make a poor decision for money.
good luck to all involved

Actually, in France you have 1 month trial, but that's probably not a french contract so this shouldn't apply.
But anyway, there is little doubt that he can step back from the contract.

Well, this is some grade A bullshit on Stephano's part. Kid needs to grow up.

Within the last hour Team Millennium announced that Stephano was remaining with their organization despite the fact he executed a legally binding contract with compLexity. We are extremely disappointed by this turn of events are are seeking more information while we evaluate our legal options with French counsel. By no means do we want a player who does not want to be part of our organization but we can not simply allow players and organizations to completely disrespect the legal contractual process that ensures stability in our evolving sport. http://www.complexitygaming.com/news/3126/#He did sign a contract. ifthis is really true, i actually hope that he a) gets sued or b) at least will be banned from leagues =) sounds harsh, but how else to let kids grow up? Do we want this to be a real, pro sport or not? ye lets ban the best foreign player lol good thinking lol, thats your argument? "what the hell, he is the best foreigner (lol, he isnt btw^^), he is allowed to do what ever he wants... who cares about contracts anyways?" dude, sorry, but thats retarded^^
no argument is needed, your post was retarded

This kind of drama is so much better than the "Why didn't he gg?" kind of stuff.

More drama when it comes to contract agreements and player signing.
Apparently Stephano did sign a contract with Complexity and they won't let him go without a fight.
Oh god, here we go again. If Stephano did indeed sign it, what can he do? Refuse to play for them? I am not sure if Stephano cares that much about who he plays under, as long as he gets support for his career and travel. Sure he has loyalties for Mill but we don't quite know how he was approached by Col, we only know it was "disorientating" and Millenium want to keep Stephano to build a strong French team for StarCraft 2 eSports. In my opinion it is quite a selfish view on how to run a team and would they rather stop Stephano from leaving to succeed like he will under another team with a stronger StarCraft 2 team purely because it's a French eSports team that is losing a player to Complexity, an American team who are very ambitious and have proven to have more goals and plans for the future. The question is was it Stephano's mistake to decide to leave as Cedix statement claims or was it the teams mistake for letting him leave in the first play but I want to know how coL approached Stephano.

Alright everyone lets get on Stephanos stream and asking him what is going on ourselves.

Can this be translated with more finesse? It's a critical part of the story but is pretty confusing in its current form. Find me the original French text and I'll translate it for you
I think it has been translated properly since, it was just the initial translation was done using an online translator - the version in the op is correctly translated now.

definitely. All the hear say about who to blame is kind of irrelevant. He signed a contract and broke it; end of story.

We will take a step back and analyze the situation but I hope Millennium honors the rule of contract law and does not disrespect it in eSports. Doing so would set a precedent that would undermine all we are collectively trying to accomplish.
We will evaluate our options but I do not see a way we can allow this blatant disrespect for the contractual process to go unanswered. We will be contacting legal counsel in France and investigating courses of action.
OMGGG!!! SHIT STORM! Seems like COL. Is possibly going to take Action... if they do i think they are slimy!
What? Asking for legal contracts to be respected is slimy? I think this is exactly what COL should do in this situation. IMO, they should allow Stephano to stay on Mill, but they definitely need reperations of some sort to show that contracts can't be entered without certainty.

Are you under contract with TeamLiquid? What if an Arabian upstart e-sports community/team wanted you and would buy you in piles of gold?

I don't get it... Is a post like this really necessary?
Anyways, People need to remember that stephano is still young and clearly has judgement troubles so dont hate on him too much. CoL talked with him for 3 weeks before the contract was signed, even with this Mill still did what they did unless one of the teams is lying.

Next thing we'll see is a judge in a court room asking Stephano to show everyone where Complexity touched him on a doll.
