No offence to the NASL but this is a huge mistake. not coming to an agreement with korean teams will take away a huge portion of fans including myself. now the league will be a joke.

You conveniently ignore how they do in team leagues. Oh god Naniwa and thorzain lost 2 games.

NASL pretty much bent over backwards and was very accommodating in the talks. and for the Koreans to do this so last minute im quite mad at them. maybe if they had spoken out early (b4 signing contracts herp derp) about possible travel or money issues it could of worked but to at the last minute change their mind and say nah we dont have the money unless you want to cover everything i find that quite disgraceful. time for HERO TO CRUSH The statement doesn`t say contracts have been signed for season 2. We don`t know if the contract for season 1 should apply for all seasons, plus there are new players this time. You can still consider it bad business practice, but it`s not like they are disrespecting a contract. They negotiated in the limit of a time frame that was convenient for them but not for NASL. Also, it really does make sense to negotiate a deal after having players in the qualifiers than before the qualifiers, as it put them in a strong position. Again, maybe BM, but also smart and not disrepectful of a previous agreement.

Yeah what happened to Ret really makes me wonder what the 9 weeks was for. If I was a top level Korean player and I had the choice, I'd be someone like Puma and just try to hero the qualifiers rather than wake up at 4am for 9 weeks and play with shitty latency.

Seriously though, this news makes me feel like korean players feel they deserve some special treatment. TSL3 was a huge success without any korean player in the finals. If anything, foreign pros have made much more entertaining matches than Koreans in GSL. Even, Koreans playing in foreign tournaments make more exciting games than GSL. Maybe the finals, but the most exciting highest level games ive seen are still always going to be in the GSL.

But tickets I am looking at on Kayak.com can go up to $2.5k depending on the date. So lets say they have to book, a month in advance, the tickets with all the fees and taxes at best would be $1500. I think that is being very conservative. I would imagine that players once they book would have to plan to stay for the entire finals. That's probably a week. 7 days in a very cheap hotel room in California would run $100 a night per person. I still think I am being very generous. Then there a meals, drinks, traveling around and other day to day expenses that come with traveling. I think a 2k Stipend would Barely cover it for these players. If I was traveling for work I would simply want to know that I would be completely covered and not have to worry about spending my own money. I think the Koreans were in the right to ask for more, so that they know nothing would come out of pocket, otherwise what is the point? NASL isn't their "work" .. the team that supports them and sponsors them is their "work". NASL SHOULDNT have to pay stipends but they do to be generous. OGS, Slayers, IM, MVP, etc. etc. etc. are the ones who are supposed to cover the travel arrangements for their players.
