wouldnt it be awesome if depending on your league 3 extra maps would appear in the pool. For example, diamonds and master could be given Crevasse, Terminus etc.

i like Metalopolis, but i don't mind them taking it out as close positions can suck, and who knows theyll probably keep it around for tournaments so you might see it again.
i'm actually glad they left in Backwater and Typhon, most might disagree, but i think it'll be more interesting at least.

Completely ignoring the changes to the 1v1 map pool, why did Blizzard decide to keep Quicksand in the FFA pool... it is arguably the worst map ever conceived, with no symmetry whatsoever, each base having either:
A: no natural or..
B: A natural where the ramp is blocked by rocks, and is shared with one of your opponents.

As I read this thread, I kept thinking about the games I've played the last couple months. It occurred to me that I only actually have Delta Quadrant vetoed at the moment, but I still rarely get games on Scrap Station or Slag Pits. I know I'm far from the only person to have Delta vetoed - is it possible that they dropped the maps they picked (except for Metal) because no one was playing on them anyway?

In any case, the new maps look interesting. I see a lot of bitching here about how awful they are from people who have probably never played on them or have spent an hour or two on the PTR. I think it's sad that the community can't give the new maps the benefit of the doubt. I mean, DQ is gone. Scrap is gone. Slag Pits is gone. This is obviously a huge improvement in the map pool. I'd much rather see a very large list of quality maps that we could thumbs up (I really want to play the maps I watch on GSL), but I can at least be happy that the map pool isn't full of the kind of horrible maps we've been playing on the last year.

I'm pretty sure Quicksand is balanced at the highest levels.

Can't believe they're removing one of the onl;y maps without rocks......ROCKS, ROCKS EVERYWHERE!

EDIT: Also looking at these maps, looks like I'll have to 2 base all in every game as Zerg, there is nothing that I've seen which indicates a third base play If only I had the friends to just custom all the time

I'm pretty sure Quicksand is balanced at the highest levels.

Too bad FFA is unranked... perhaps it could be used in TL attack.

yeh I thought so too but then I realized that they didn't take out crap station and detla because they are smart, the removed them because they are old maps.
the only smart thing they did is to remove slag pits.

Meta may come back one day, I like they are changing the maps, the is always a option to bring them back later but then they may have data showing it isnt as imblanced as we though.

well, at least all of my downvotes are gone, so i can now downvote the new "rushmaps". Removal of Metalopolis is sad though. Always was my favourite map in the pool.
