I still think she's pretty...

If you wanna be famous you gotta be ready to such things. Imagine if Justin Bieber would sue everyone saying things about him? What if Rebecca Black decided to sue people with bad comments on her youtube video...
She should just ignore it, and earn their respect winning tournament matches.

Do you see what Im getting at?
No, I don't. As I've stated in my original post, some things are to be expected and completely irrelevant to your life/success in the progaming scene. As some other poster noted, would Emma Watson be right to try to track down every guy who photoshopped her pictures? Some things might be illegal, but completely harmless even if you're not stoic. She is within her rights to do so, but why would I expect the police to waste their time with such nuisances? Going back to your post about my sister, wouldn't you expect such thing to happen in this situation? You're a young girl and not well known for your starcraft achievements, yet you join a top-class starcraft progaming team and let the public see you. What sort of person wouldn't foresee this mess? i don't expect you to reply to this at all, but to anwer your last question: i kinda dunno, what sort of people do you think half of us are? i'm sure we want/[wanted] her to do well, on top of many other hopes, and ideas and a simple thought is that this incident is a preventing factor What sort of people half of you are? Idealists, I would say. The world isn't always fine and dandy and you can't always take out your wheelbarrow full of gold out for a walk in a busy city and expect everybody you meet to be happy for you. When you put yourself out there in the public, at least grow a thicker skin. Stop dodging. What gives you a right to tell people how to feel? Oh, I wasn't dodging. It just takes time to get through all the posts here. Respect my right to slowly read through forum posts, please. And freedom of speech gives me that right, doesn't it? I can't make them feel that way, but I can surely tell them my opinion on the situation. Lol. Next question. Is it acceptable to shop nude photos of 22 year old girls? No, and again, I wasn't defending any of them. What I said, and still am, the actions taken by the team in this case are idiotic. It's not acceptable to call someone an idiot too, but you wouldn't go to the police because of that? Would you? Who is going after who for being called an idiot? The only thing I am talking about is the pictures. It's still within our rights to go after someone who called us an idiot. That was your point, wasn't it?
I was talking about the pictures the entire time. Maybe there was a mistake along the way.

ITT:
- Saying anything mean on the internet means you should be thrown into jail - Saying you dislike something means you should be sued and makes you an instant asshole - The world should be made out of rainbows, omg - The youtube "dislike" button should be linked to a police site that will instantly arrest you if you press it, SO THE HATERS WILL STOP OMG - Everyone that's defending SlayerS_Jessica has probably gone on to hate on Justin Bieber/Rebecca Black or the sorts and are probably too stupid to see the connection between the two - I just called people in this thread stupid, FUCK ITS THE COPS-
Seriously, I can't believe you people defending her don't realise that if what she's doing was the norm and would actually be approved by law, all of you would be in jail right now for being mean on the internet, "being an asshole" is, and will always be protected by freedom of speech, because the freedom of saying you disagree/dislike something IS THE VERY DEFINITION OF FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

Somehow this is even creepier than photoshopping a face on a porn star.... uhm, no, it isn't... but it's scaringly close

No one likes seeing freedom of speech infringed on, but on the other hand its hard not to enjoy seeing trolls stripped of their supposed shield of invulnerability that is the internet.
There are also cultural differences here that make it hard for us to judge.

But above culture differences, no one likes when you wash your dirt's in public. She could have done it quiet, peacefully, not make a fuss. Now angry beehive is acting. Seriously nothing unexpected, a specially when it was showed she made bad accusation to completely innocent people, make her look like she is raging hard and venting her frustration on netizens.
edit: sorry for double

I love how everyone has a very clear opinion already. We don't know exactly who she's going to the police about or what they did, right? Clearly some of her twitter replies (arguing with a 16 year old...) are dumb and counterproductive, but they're not deeply wrong in any way. Beyond that, we can't say much.
If people were just rude to her, obviously that's not something to take to court. If there were death threats, then obviously it is. I'm an American, and I like very broad free speech protections, so I don't think she should be able to sue or file legal complaints for much other than death threats and maybe slander (clear factual claims that are made despite knowing they're false, and are made to a very public audience). That said, most countries allow you to sue for a lot less, and you can't really blame her for using whatever legal rights she has.

What does speech have to do with putting a picture young womans face onto a nude body? And what is so important about that "speech" that it needs to be made? You are over reacting to this OP dude. CHILL OUT. THIS IS NOT THE NETHERLANDS WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. ITS KOREA, AND DOING THAT IN THE U.S. WOULD BE ILLEGAL AS WELL. ITS CALLED DEFAMATION.
The reason Justin Bieber and Rebecca Black don't sue anyone is because any press they are getting is good for them and increases their views. I'm positive if you photo shopped Julia Roberts face onto a horse and put it on the News, you would be getting a visit from the Police.
Even if she is overreacting, she is still within the law, and she is only defending herself and her team. Good for her. I hate trolls, even if they love it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defamation
And here is what wiki has to say about defamation in the Republic of Korea
+ Show Spoiler + "Republic of Korea
Korea is interesting as truth is not important with defamation; any words harming another can be considered illegal and may be punishable with fines and imprisonment. “Defamation” is covered by several laws in Korea, civil law, traditional criminal law & modern internet criminal law-under the 'Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Data Protection, etc.' (internet and email related laws) – 2005 CHAPTER IX Article 61 (Penal Provisions) This shows defamation varies significantly from North American laws and in general by country and by case. As image and 'public face' is very important in East Asia, it is incredibly easy to sue for 'loss of face' (defamation) in Korea. Even middle school students are active with cases (Little Suzie said my son was 'stupid', etc.).
(1) Any person who has defamed any other person by alleging openly facts through information and communications networks [anyone stating false comments by internet and email] with the purpose of slandering him shall be subject to imprisonment with or without prison labor for not more than 3 years or by a fine not exceeding 20 million won.
(2) Any person who has defamed any other person by alleging openly false facts via information and communications networks [anyone stating true comments on the internet and email] with the purpose of slandering him/her shall be subject to imprisonment with prison labor for not more than 7 years or the suspension of disqualification for not more than 10 years, or by a fine not exceeding 50 million won [approximately US$50,000 plus since this is only criminal law, in Korea you can also sue for more damages with civil actions].
As of June 2010, cases were heard before Korean courts and individuals were fined a few thousand dollars for emailing true facts (an email stated “she admitted she was guilty” to a lawyer managing a related case). These comments were identified in email sent to foreign lawyers [considered privileged and confidential in Canada] managing a related case in Canada. True statements about a Korean individual were sent to answer questions from a Canadian lawyer and these statements were decided by Korean court to be punishable with a fine. International “comity” procedure or “intent” appear not important in Korea."
She is going to argue that all of this negative imagery and hate coming towards the team, is bad press for the team. Which means she has legal rights to pursue, just like Destiny vs DDOS. And that doesn't mean anyone is going to jail. At worst you would probably have to pay the team for damages (doubtful), and of course cease and desist. Ha you can get fined for telling the truth about someone in Korea too. HAHAHAAHHA

sigh, I'm not trying to be sexist or anything...but yeah. She's way too oversensitive. It's this kind of thing that keeps female gamers from being taken seriously.
|
Words have consequences, I like being able to take it police than stabbed in the chest for making a disrespectful film, etc. I gurantee you insult my sister or mom I'd break your jaw and if I couldnt I get a baseball bat. isn't it better and more civil to work things out with authorities?
|
|
I think she isn't overreacting but she uses this flaming to improve her popularity... i mean she's popular enough by being a Female pro-gamers with Eve, and i like that i really enjoy to see female gamer that's nice but she might overreacting a bit, according to trying to report that to police it kinda too much... she needs to ignore flamers because what's gonna happen if she facing Iidra rage? (joke by the way no offense to idra fan) anyway!

She is right that these annoying dumb kids and/or no life losers that are overcritical of celebrities deserve to get owned in real life. Pretty sure 100% of them wouldn't say it to the person's face. This is not a problem unique to esport celebrities of course. There are very good reasons why many top players or well known people in SC2 refusing to read forums often just to not see the kind of senseless garbage or insult that get posted. She should only go for the people that are really out of hand though, not minor criticisms. Also she might have been in a moody day when this occurred if you know what I mean.
