Don't know if this was mentioned yet but about a month ago a blogger in Taiwan was sent to jail for an unfair restaurant review
http://taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2011/06/23/2003506487
The Taichung District Court ruled that Liu’s criticism of the restaurant exceeded reasonable bounds and sentenced her to 30 days in detention, a ruling that Liu appealed. The High Court found that Liu’s criticism about cockroaches in the restaurant to be a narration of facts, not intentional slander. However, the judge also ruled that Liu should not have criticized all the restaurant’s food as too salty because she only had one dish on her single visit. Health officials who inspected the restaurant did not find conditions to be as unsanitary as Liu had described, so the High Court also ruled that Liu must pay NT$200,000 to the owner for revenues lost as a result of her blog post. The ruling is final. Liu has apologized to the restaurant for the incident. Yang said he filed the charges because Liu’s negative comments about his restaurant led many customers to call him to ask if her review was true. He said he hoped the case would teach her a lesson.

they talked about some kind of spat between SK and fnatic in terms of both teams taking contracted players from each other
doesn't seem all that different between what is going on between TSL and EG
no idea if Puma was actually contracted with TSL though since the number of actually salaried Korean SC2 players is probably very small

I can't wait for the episode after gamescom where we continue to ignore the game. (/sarcasm)
I will wait for the episode after DotA actually proves itself as a legitimate competitive game that organizations want to support via tournaments, teams, etc.
I know you will disagree with me, but DotA has made ZERO advancement in terms of a globally popular spotlighted eSports title.
I really am not going out of my way to discredit the game(s) at all because I enjoy them casually myself, but I'm definitely not convinced that it will ever be able to exist like BW, CS, Quake, SC2, etc.
I really hope I'm wrong, because the features they mention are certainly on the right track. But you can't really eat up Valve's bullshit about eSports so easily. They had the same opportunity to support and advance CS 1.6 at it's prime and they chose to take a very obvious backseat almost to the point of ignoring it.
I think DotA 2 will be alot more like TF2, where it appears as if the potential is there, but the actual direction from Valve never let's it get beyond a "casual game that a fuckload of people play". It's also going to be very tough for HoN, LoL, BLC, and DotA 2 to all co-exist, and most certainly not at the same tournaments. I HOPE that the competition between these companies will change the way they all approach eSports.
EDIT: since people like to use this single post against me, I just want to throw in an EDIT. I have since educated myself on the struggles of the DoTA community and how they are progressing and transitioning into DOTA2. My spite was more towards the lack of effort that Valve put forth in games like TF2 (which I mention) because i believe that had quite a bit of potential. However, they chose to take a more casual route. i don't want to see games that have competitive potential lost in a sea of casuals. So I do hope the best for DOTA and honestly the entire MOBA scene.

The actual gameplay will be a 1-1 copy of DotA as it is right now, perhaps with some changes to adjust for the lack of wc3-engine limitations, but nothing beyond that. They've given icefrog creative control over the project, so gaben doesn't really get to casualize it.
Of course whether it will become a big e-sport is a completely different thing...

i'm not really one to get into huge internet debates but having gotten to high MMR in LoL, having played HoN for a while before giving up on the genre in general out of boredom (almost all the same imo with just varying difficulty levels between the games, otherwise very redundant and only a small competitive scene) and at least know what DotA is like, i'm confident that it will likely never happen, and the only reason LoL succeeds where others fail is that it's the only free one. that helps because no cares about LoL if they don't play it just like all the DotA clones, but because it's free, enough people play to make it matter.
if you can't explain to a noob what is going on in the game, there will be very few people who latch onto the game just by watching a stream or casted game. the problem with DotA clones is because there's SO MUCH FUCKING SHIT to explain, especially in non-LoL DotA clones, to actually do that would make it so that you weren't casting anymore. you basically have to start playing the game and play it for a little while to understand what you're watching which is kind of a no-no if you want to be successful as an esport

Seriously get real, never read so much ignorance in just one post. Dota never pushed esport ? really ? Can't you see the symbol of a game made by the community, for the community, published for free and patched to an extreme clockwerk precision and perfection.
Dota is patched nearly every week, by just one guy and he balanced 100+ different units with absolutely NO similar spell. Meanwhile you go fanboy on SC2, with 200 developers overpayed, a poor creativity, and litterally no patching (oh wait, the bunker now takes 35s to build I forgot).
Being an "esport" figure, your post is a disgrace, and an insult to all the people who worked for free on Dota along the years.
I think you don't understand Dota, just like some people don't understand the street fighter scene. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Top notch Dota replays last year were downloaded more than 200,000times, yeah, I guess that's not esport.
