He is just an entertainer and him and Spanishiwa should just go lose in a corner at mlg? I didn't say anything about Spanishiwa. I think DJWheat said it pretty well about him. But i mean, Destiny is good no doubt about that but i don't see him doing that well in MLG. (and no, i don't agree with Slasher exactly word to word) Yeah just mentioned Spanishiwa due to the fact him saying the same about both. We shall see about Destiny, but Slasher talking as if he shouldn't even be there. WoW arena seems to have died. HoN is growing slowly, FPS scenes are boring as fuck to watch. Especially the console shit that requires fuck all skill. (Hi COD)
WoW arena died yeah. Pretty much all of it's "E-sports shine" was in ESL(?) and MLG? and that didn't last long..
I meant HoN with "new in esports". But i think HoN's scene is getting "crushed" because of LoL and when Dota2 is out. Just my thoughts tho.

Yeah LoL has huge numbers, it's kind of a pity it's some much larger than HoN, certainly not the same skill level as it. Dota2 will be good at the start, will be interesting to see how it develops, but it does have huge hype before we know anything about it.
Anyways SC2 is my main focus atm and i just think Slasher was a bit OTT on his assumptions.
Why did the WoW scene die? I felt it was fairly entertaining, watching an FPS match is ridiculously bad.

As far as i know, Blizzard ruined the Arena because of nerfs, updates and stuff. Maybe someone who followed the scene more can tell the exact reason.

From what we have heard DOTA2 will be, game-play wise at least, as exact of a replica of DOTA1 as possible, with some bug fixes. I imagine graphical changes will also need to occur, as many of the DOTA unit models are recolored or slightly modified Blizzard models.
I have seen WOW pvp before and it is not great to watch IMO. I used to share your opinion of FPS matches, but the halo matches on MLGs July 4 showmatch series were actually really enjoyable to watch, despite my knowing nothing of Halo beyond the couch with friends level.

Yeah but balance wise, pricing, and the support it receives from valve will be interesting.
It isn't going to top the community support of HoN's team and their interaction from the community. And i doubt it's going to top LoL's pricing structure. But it does have huge hype behind and it's previous name.
EDIT: To do with WoW, i found it entertaining, very easy to follow, some big big plays but i suppose balance will forever be an issue.
I don't get how u can follow an FPS and enjoy, unless i had a massive screen with 10 way split screen to follow a 5v5 i wouldn't find it entertaining. Halo i can agree to an extent over CoD as remotely enjoyable but CoD's autoaim kills it for me and the retarded perk system.
Anyhoo sorry for derailing the topic.

What was the name of the documentary that was mentioned in the show today?
|
|
Thanks for posting the link, I might not have watched it otherwise. But I just sat through the whole thing and it was fucking amazing. I know absolutely nothing about the fighting game community but this documentary was really well done and it was just awesome. Anyone on the fence needs to watch this, it's incredible.
It also gives me hope for the Starcraft documentaries that are being filmed right now, can't wait.

Slasher is such a hater.
Gotta love it.

I can't wait for the episode after gamescom where we continue to ignore the game. (/sarcasm) I will wait for the episode after DotA actually proves itself as a legitimate competitive game that organizations want to support via tournaments, teams, etc. I know you will disagree with me, but DotA has made ZERO advancement in terms of a globally popular spotlighted eSports title. I really am not going out of my way to discredit the game(s) at all because I enjoy them casually myself, but I'm definitely not convinced that it will ever be able to exist like BW, CS, Quake, SC2, etc. I really hope I'm wrong, because the features they mention are certainly on the right track. But you can't really eat up Valve's bullshit about eSports so easily. They had the same opportunity to support and advance CS 1.6 at it's prime and they chose to take a very obvious backseat almost to the point of ignoring it. I think DotA 2 will be alot more like TF2, where it appears as if the potential is there, but the actual direction from Valve never let's it get beyond a "casual game that a fuckload of people play". It's also going to be very tough for HoN, LoL, BLC, and DotA 2 to all co-exist, and most certainly not at the same tournaments. I HOPE that the competition between these companies will change the way they all approach eSports. Seriously get real, never read so much ignorance in just one post. Dota never pushed esport ? really ? Can't you see the symbol of a game made by the community, for the community, published for free and patched to an extreme clockw erk precision and perfection. Dota is patched nearly every week, by just one guy and he balanced 100+ different units with absolutely NO similar spell. Meanwhile you go fanboy on SC2, with 200 developers overpayed, a poor creativity, and litterally no patching (oh wait, the bunker now takes 35s to build I forgot). Being an "esport" figure, your post is a disgrace, and an insult to all the people who worked for free on Dota along the years. I think you don't understand Dota, just like some people don't understand the street fighter scene. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Top notch Dota replays last year were downloaded more than 200,000times, yeah, I guess that's not esport. lawl sorry bro. Its not an esport. It has almost no popularity aside from its small community
