I think the success in this league catching on is how they manage the free content vs. paid... I know it was the initial free matches that got me into GSL..you will pay to see the end of the matches. This is great way to do it, however I think they will have to come up with even more creative ways of balancing the free versus paid-for content (is that worth a topic?) excited for it !

I just wouldn't pay that much for it personally, and that's what the poll was about. I imagine it's the same for a lot of people. Has nothing to do with how good the league is. Some people don't like to spend that much money on entertainment.

And still having commercials on a paid stream? That's just a slap in the face.

If NASL offers as much content as gomTV over those 3 months, with good quality of gameplay, with good commentary, I may stop buying GSL tickets.

It was supposed to start April 4th, but they pushed it back a week for the players who are participating in MLG. I really don't understand all the complaining about the price of the stream. People seem to foget they are also providing a free stream for those that don't want to pay for the HD stream. Why is everyone so quick to decide that the production quality is going to be so low? We have no idea how the production quality is going to be. Give them a chance to prove themselves. I guess I just don't understand all the hate.

It is like 7.50 Euros for a weekend of IEM Finals 10 USD for MLG weekends 10 dollars for a month worth of GSL games This is 20-25 dollars for 3 months of games, we are going to see 5 groups of 10, so thats like 450 sets of BO3/5 games just in group stages alone.

First of all, for GSL you get a one month subscription, and for NASL you get 3 months..Thus, $25/3 = $8.33 per month. Hence, it is cheaper per month. And people are saying NASL doesn't have GSL talent players in it...wtf? Am I looking at a different player's list than these people or something? Anyways I will be buying...I just need to hit the streets for a couple days. I am a college student after all.

I am 100% sure the content will be great and the games entertaining and will be worth the money for everyone purchasing it. I will buy season 2 if they make the announcement of a greatly expanded qualifiers tournament. otherwise i will continue to not give my support in views or money. I'm choosing not to support what i view as a flawed method of running an event. Similar to a product boycott because the company that manufactures the product does X that you disagree with. IE some people don't buy BP because of the oil spill, but that doesn't make the product BP sells inferior. those people just do not want to support BP.

You would think most people who are posting are beggars or something. 25 dollars over 3 months, that's nothing at all, its like 25 cents a day. Is that really too much of a sacrifice to support esports? ffs Im a poor uni student just scraping together enough cash for rent each week, and even I can afford that Good post. I'm the same way--very low on cash as a grad student, but when you think about it, $25 for the amount of entertainment you get from a large number of matches over a long period of time is worth it. This money can be freed up by just not going downtown and/or not eating out for one night of a week. To be honest, I'm completely 100% fine with people not buying it and just watching the free stream--obviously this is completely understandable. I am personally only paying the sum out of an abstract ideal of "supporting e-sports." My quarrel is not with people who are enjoying the free stream but rather with people who are actually complaining about the voluntary fee. That seems kind of ridiculous, in my opinion.

i don't mind spending money on games or spending money to view matches; as i have paid for all of GSL matches since season 1. However, i don't think we will see much of GSL quality matches, since cross-server games tend to be less interesting. Players like MVP, Nestea cannot micro their units because of high latency. During TSL, MVP lost reapers to probes and Nestea through away 20 roaches to tank line because he coudln't control units out of moving into tank lines. Boxer actually adjusted to high latency and played high unit count game instead of playing micro... which was extremely boring to watch. Because alot of players will be playing on cross-server matches to get into top 16, the top players may not be able to get into top 16. I believe games will be less entertaining, because top 16 might not be able to bring best games. Thus, first 2 month will be boring with macro games with barely any micro intensive moments. Also, have to question will the top 16 players, who won through cross-server lantency games, be able to bring exciting games. My answer is less likely. With the time constrain of having to watch 2 to 4 hours of starcraft per day, i prefer to watch GSL 'in studio' matches.

I don't think the issue people are discussing is the value per game/broadcast. If i got a 1 bo3 broadcast that was the best production ever made, then i'd pay 20 bucks just for that. Clearly most of the criticism is a lack of confidence on what will be produced having a) not seen anything and b) having a bad taste in their mouths from whatever else. I'll probably wait for the first few broadcasts to get a taste and then decide whether or not to purchase.
