That aside I do not see why ANY tournament needs the people to pay for it. ESPECIALLY NASL. Any sponsor will have their advertisements seen by those watching the games. That at one time was enough. The GSL is a different story not only do were their early sponsors not mainstream global companies, but they then had to find a way to pay to improve the service around the world. Perhaps have a 1080P available for pay, but I see no reason why anyone should have to pay to see the Vods in LQ either. Also it is essentially free (possibly a source of income) to host them on youtube (if you're allowed). On April 02 2011 14:42 Wr3k wrote: If its for 3 months of play then its only $5-10 more than gomtv and is apparently 1080p? seems reasonable to me. I think ill wait to see what the quality of the service is but I don't think that price is completely ridiculous by any stretch. Compared to any other tournament(especially MLG) it is actually an extraordinary deal. The issue is why do people have to pay? Streaming costs have not gone up since BW. Though I do believe you have to Blizzard's permission (don't know if you have to pay for that permission).

Where's the interest in laggy games, a convoluted format and mediocre commentators when I already have the superior GSL to watch and the actual game itself to play? And still having commercials on a paid stream? That's just a slap in the face. Actually, me having sex with your girlfriend a day after you break up is a slap in the face. Sponsor recognition and ads, even in pay per view events, is inconvenient but also pretty standard. In short, you're entitled to you skepticism but let's not blow this out of proportion.

Could be moot; op says minimal commercial interruption, nasl.tv says none. Just to note: I don't mind ads on the live stream so much (hurk, because you don't watch it!) but seriously, I'm sure like the GSL I'll be able to catch the stream every now and then. The matches have to pause anyway, casters need breaks, crew needs breaks, something might need to be reset/setup. . .ads during that time would be okay. If it pulls in a bit more money, its better than just staring at an empty studio. Second note: I'm not rich by any means, but $25 seems like a fine price for such a long event.

NASL free stream will be higher quality than the Gomtv HQ stream. The HQ for the NASL stream will be hilariously good, I'm 90% sure I won't even be able to run it no matter what, just because its more bandwidth than my interwebz can handle. According to the Q&A thread, there will be a later rebroadcast for European viewers, in the same quality, also free. The player pool has many of the most successful players in Korea, including the previous GSL's chamion and runner-up. It also has other Koreans who have seen less success in the individual leagues, but have done well internationally and in the Korean Team Leagues. The sheer number of upsets going on in the past month leads me to believe that the pro-level players of this game are incredibly close in skill, so picking the 50 "best" players will always be highly subjective and arbitrary. With a few notable exceptions (no dimaga, jinro, or huk ![]() According to the Q&A thread, the games will be played online, casted live as the game is played, then edited and broadcast later. This is the biggest negative, as we will be unable to see the players actually playing, or their live reactions to the games. There will also be no spectators in the studio as far as I can tell. Overall Pros: Player group contains many excellent players from Korea, NA, and EU. Production value should be high, with little downtime, and very very good free streaming in both NA and EU time zones. Overall Cons: VODs cost money, and there will be no live crowd, and no live players in the studio. What you get for free: Excellent stream with rebroadcasts for EU watchers. What you pay for: VODs, stream so high quality just loading it will be tough for many viewers. My personal conclusion: I feel like the $20 is not worth it, simply because of how damn good all the free stuff is. The only thing I would get for my $$$ would be VOD access, the value of which will depend greatly on how consistently I end up watching the live broadcasts. I'll start off just watching the stream, and if I find myself missing key matches that I want to see, I'll pay for the VODs. I will probably not bother paying for the GSL anymore, because the NASL is a much better deal and there's no way in hell I have time to follow both leagues. The GSTL I will continue paying for, because it is so awesome ^^

I guess with time, maybe the NASL will prove itself. However, as a casual follower of TL site, I was not particularly impressed with the organization of the NASL from what I've read. So, I'd rather wait.

Just in my opinion, but the whole thing seems pretty unprofessional and ran by people with ulterior motives.

I see the major flaw, but I was really excited for this aspect. ![]()

Especially as the brands arn't even sold in my country lol. I think I'll watch the stream if it suits my schedule some day, and see how it goes. If it's got a good production value, I'll buy a season 2 ticket. As far as I can understand the whole concept is based on american wrestling though, so it might just get embarrassing :d
