Anyway , pretty excited about the new maps. Gonna see how they work. Even tho I would've prefered the gsl maps , anything is better than LT cliffs , steppes of imbalance and blistering.

No they won't. They wont even use the ladder if they are forced to play on maps that aren't in tournaments like NASL or GSL. They can only veto enough maps so that 2/5 of the maps they play aren't in the GSL. Spending 40% of one's time playing maps taht no tournaments use is a HUGE waste of time compared to just playing with teammates.

Out of interest what's the problem with Delta Quadrant? As a high Diamond Protoss player I actually rather like it, and I even loved getting Steppes of War on the ladder, but they seem to receive nothing but flak on here.

Have you ever played anything other than 4gate? I don't think so. It's pretty obvious why Delta Quadrant is a terrible map (unless it's cross position).

Man, I played on Backwater Gulch, and it makes Delta Quadrant look balanced. 3 entrances into your natural (2 blocked by rocks), the natural does not protect the main, and the one open entrance is enormous. Blizzard really does not want us to expand on this map, and I honestly can't see how zerg has a prayer at holding 2 rax.

I'm cringing thinking about how many sentries I'll need to protect an expansion here.

Toss/Zerg get pooped on by Terrans on DQ, Tank drops on your only "safe" expo, huge positional imbalances, ZvP is also pretty annoying because of the wide open natural, Roach all-ins can be quite effective, as does 4gate. 4gate In PvP is even worse, they start warping into the back of your base and you can't stop it unless you 4gate yourself :X

Super long scouting time, sometimes you scout cheese too late, even if you 9 scout too :/

Everyone complains for good reason. I just played one on of these in a ladder game, the gulch one that looks like blistering, except guess what? Blizzard must have thought blistering sands was such a great map, that instead of making one destructable rock entrance, they decided to give you two destructable rock entrances to your ramp, along with a ramp x4 the size of a normal ramp up.

Obviously it's too early to say how good or bad the maps are, but I'm going to venture a guess so far, that they all are terrible. Why can't blizzard suck it up and put GSL maps on there?

Oh well, looking forward to playing on these new maps for a week or so, and then yeah...none of these maps are going to be in tournaments, that's pretty much guaranteed from them.

I also don't understand why blizzard feels it necessary to try to be "cute" by adding in destructable rocks everywhere instead of making a solid map. SC1 maps didn't always need these gimmicks to be good maps, but they keep on adding destructable rocks to make SC2 be this gimmick/aggro/all-in type of game play...

Well those maps might not be perfect and im sad that they took out my favourite map(SP) but at least we are finally getting some new ladder maps!

And also four at once. I haven´t played a lot lately because it got boring playing the same maps over and over again but this gives a little bit more motivation. Lets just hope that blizzard will get more flexible with adding maps or starts listening to SotG since they solved blizzard already.

I'm excited, those all look interesting to say the least. What a nice challenge it is to be able to analyze the new maps that are out and play on them.
Knowing is half the battle... the other half is lasers.
