Pretty big difference between wanting to be unattackable, and people not wanting the map architecture to make it ridiculously easy to punish anyone who tries to expand.

Close position Slug is closer distance than fucking Steps of War, I kid you not, go try it for yourself. It is also completely impossible for a zerg to overlord-scout his opponent in a timely fashion due to the positioning of the main entrances. You can overlord-scout the side of your opponent's base but he simply won't have anything there.

So basically they removed Shakuras because it didn't have 100+ destructable rocks all over it? Having a "plain" map was actually a nice change for a map pool full of maps with gimmicky shit.

Backwater Gulch has some serious positional imbalanced when not spawning cross positions. For example 2 'o clock vs 5 'o clock spawns. The 2 will have a much much easier 3rd and 4th to take as he can expand away from the opponent and in the direction of the ramp.

I don't see how Slag is the "macro" map (see Blizz comments), when it has only 10 expos on the entire map..

These new maps are horrible for protoss in my completely uneducated opinion. Expansions are spread out and thus easily harassed by medivacs or god forbid mutalisks.

Protoss doesnt have that many defence options so i feel we are pretty fucked.

Backwater Gulch is a really fun map! :D
I liked Shakuras Plateau though :/
But, I am looking forward towards playing on the new maps.

I find you wrong on that actually. I faced a Terran on that map, and it was really easy to fend of his marines and siege tanks.
I also expanded quite easily too.

Has anyone figured out how to take a 3rd in PvZ on any map other than Backwater Gulch yet?

And I can see myself getting massively sick of close positions on these maps very very quickly.

It missed a gold mineral expansion too, something that blizzard in their retarded ways wants to get in every fucking map apparently

Slag Pits and backwater gulch is broke due to the natural expand in the PvZ. It's crazy to expand. You must 5 gate push :/

I just played a PvZ on Slag Pits and it seems to me to be insanely position based. You're sooo close if you spawn like that. It kinda reminds me of some of the bad 2v2 maps. I have to say that I'm very disappointed they didn't include the gsl maps. I hope MLG include the gsl maps and hopefully blizzard will come around eventually.

That being said I'm excited just to have new maps at least. If it takes another 6months for gsl maps to be added though it's gonna be a disaster.

Edit: also disappointed shakuras is gone. Last map i would have wanted gone tbh. I play random so i just like fun maps and don't mind so insanely much small imbalances.

thank you blizzard for "better metalopolis" aka slag pits)) it just cant get to my head how can blizzard compare metalopolis to this crap map ofc for people who actually play the game it takes 5 times to play this map to understand, that map is one of the worst ever created, but probably 5 times is too much for blizzard to test map, better is to waste time and to create nice description of map which is far from reality especially easy to defend early helion harass and 4 gate as zerg on this "better metalopolis" )

and nooo its not good to add non blizzard maps(btw that are there already GSL/ICCUP maps) because it would brake game!

"amazing maps" make this really amazing game into cheese, 2 base play, 2 base all in fest.
Keep the good work blizzard, your map makers are just amazing!!!
