They said they are considering it, which obviously did not work since there is no GSL maps.

They said they are thinking about it. There was a blue post about it & a thread:

Well that was announced after they got the current maps on the PTR so I´m pretty sure they didn´t wan´t to let their work go to waste and putted thoose in the ladder for now. I really hope we get some custom maps in the next rotation and GSL maps are very possible since blizzard is cooperating with Gom to some extend.

Naw I like the maps just I got super fucking excited when I had a 1v1 on Shakuras. Always my favourite games.

Did they change delta quadrant? My tanks can't reach natural from that cliff. They can shoot normally on backdoor exp, but natural is far out of reach. Wasn't it before that you could shoot on gas and minerals?
|
Why does Blizzard hate fast expand builds? They were only popular on Shakuras and Lost Temple in PvZ and now these new maps with wide open nats mean no fast expand ever.
Goodbye 18 nexus. Looks like it's just 3 WG expand every single game. I mean sure one COULD still FE but without the lack of an easily defended natural (all of them except for shattered temple have more than 1 route into the nat) it's pretty much a gamble.

They could've added another Xel'naga to some of the maps, especially Slag Pits, feels like you can't see anything at all especially with all the random smoke by the short rush distance spawns, and then it's too late and you are dead. Probably my only veto, I'll give the others more time, though I'm quite happy with the new LT already.

I was seriosly shocked when I played a game today I'm so frigin excited afraid nervous and all that all over again just like when I started playing

We lose Khaydarin Amulet bu get Khaydarin Depths in its place?
|
Why don't they just use the GSL map pool as the ladder map pool? It would make things so much simpler, and it's not like the GSL maps are unplayable at lower skill levels. It would also guarantee the maps stay fresh and reasonably balanced.

haha these maps + the explanations are too funny. gogo iccup for good map! i so hope no tournament adds any of these maps

Shattered Temple is better than LT. And any tournament that had Blistering Sands still in should replace it with Typhon if they're going to pick a ladder map. Admittedly Slag Pits and Gulch aren't that good, but still. I think it's an improvement.

I don't understand why they can't provide us with some iCCup maps on the ladder. iCCup makes some amazing maps (so do GSL now) so I don't get it why Blizzard is doing this to us. Go go we as a community must pressure Blizzard to do something right with the map pool because they clearly don't know how to handle this.

Fast expanding as Terran with such wide open naturals feels pretty difficult, especially against Zerg. That sucks because I really like setting up for macro games, rather than 1-base timing attacks. A couple of them have sorta okay thirds to take but they feel very dependent on spawn positions. I guess more rushes and all-ins are to be expected on new maps since people aren't as comfortable with the terrain and that will probably change over time, but some of the close positions feel really close and the far positions feel really far. I don't really want my win % to depend on spawn locations that much.
I do appreciate wider areas to engage a colossus ball, I think that will help a lot with getting good concaves and flanks, as well as not getting completely dismantled by force fields at all stages of the game. This should also make tvt a little better for the players that don't want to mass tanks all the time. Overall I'm happy to see new maps just so new strategies can evolve but they seem much more conducive to bio play than mech. I'm very happy to see Blistering Sands and Steppes of War gone!

You think blizzard would have learned when GOM was pressured into taking on a new map pool
|
Piece of shit maps with undefendable naturals... Blizzard should add gsl maps and stop making maps all together, considering they don't know how to make maps in the first place. Let people who understand the game make maps, you bunch of useless amateurs.
|
Ok, after some testing i came to the conclusion that id rather play on delta or scrap than on the new ones, theyre absolutely horrible. All of them.
|
I really like the new maps actually. They feel quite big, actually feel bigger than anything we've seen so far in 1v1, even with regards to Shakuras. Shakuras is a big map, but it is there aren't many expansions on the map, but man, these maps are actually quite big.
I'm very happy with them. Slag Pits close positions is actually farther than Metal or LT close positions, which is not that bad at all for close positions.
In any case, I'm happy with them. Except the rocks, delta quadrant still being in the pool, and close position spawn is still possible.

Awesome; can't wait to get some ladder-time in tomorrow.
