The best games we've seen have been on shakuras for the most part, but apparently it's too boring to have in the ladder pool (this is actually outrageous, if you think about it). The community has been relatively outspoken on what they want to see and we're getting the opposite. The patch notes don't seem to be much better either. | ||

I find it hilarious how they tried to improve things on slag pits .. the natural is ridiculous ![]() oh well.. back to laddering :D | ||

ITS IMPOSSIBLE to hold the natural expansion, tried it 3 times now, all three lost. TvP with a PF on the gold, yeah. God damnit. Slag Pits vetoed, browsed through it shortly in a cg, decided not even worth trying. Typhoon again a fucking HUGE expansion area, at least you can try SOMEHOW to defend it with 20 billion force fields. Shattered temple, didn't play on it until now, looks so hard ZvP, huge natural, easy defendable 3rd base for zerg, HUGE middle area with huge surface area. Close air is a joke, mutalisk harass, or terran drop ship play. I cant believe they created those bullshit maps. | ||

I never feel safe opening anything but speedlings on these maps except for shattered temple. They make xel naga caverns look easy to fe on | ||

Also i found this to sum up Blizzards thoughts on this pretty well. (4)Shakuras Plateau This map we decided to remove for a different reason. There isn't a huge problem with this map, but we felt there aren't enough interesting features of this map. The natural expansion is easy to take and defend; there are only two possible attack paths only one of which is generally used, and main bases aren't easy to harass. For a change, we wanted to replace this relatively plain map with something new. Basically they don't want us to expand easily or macro for some reason. | ||

I like Backwater Gluch, and The Shattered Temple. Slag Pits is horrible. Typhon Peaks is horrible for Terran in cross positions... like impossible vs Zerg probably. So yeah I like 2. | ||

Shattered Temple is better then the old LT. Backwater is a serviceable map ...definitely better then Blistering. Slag Pits is outrageously bad. Typhon is a very strange map, and for some reason reminds me of Scrap. But yes, against Zerg, it's impossible to prevent Zerg from macro'ing. I miss Shak. As everyone has said, the fact DQ remained and Shak was removed shatters faith in Blizzard's understanding of maps. | ||

If you have a lot of experience in mapping and playing, it doesn't take long to analyze a map. In Brood War, it took about 5 minutes to form rational judgements on space allocation, expansion lines/linearity, and balance. | ||

They are seriously so bad im done with laddering unless they do something about this bullshit, the maps are either terrible in general or a 50/50 depending on spawns, zero improvement over most maps and some i consider much worse then the old maps. | ||
