I don't think queuing patrols work at all, though I may be wrong. I'd think it would go "ok, when I'm done this endless back and forth path, I will go on to that other endless back and forth path" but if as you said, you patrol them to the unit, does the first patrol command end entirely, or does it instead get relegated to patrol to where the unit was last alive?
I'd definitely be interested in testing this now...

i just gave it a quick test, the unit goes through all the queued commands and then just follows the last target in the queue

Not sure if this was my touchpad accuracy but from what I just tried it doesn't seem possible to use the patrol command and then click on units. Clicks just went right through them to the ground beneath. Though the loading screen helpfully told me that SHIFT+COMMAND+F makes a unit follow another unit (that may be why you can't shift-queue it up!).

Thanks!
No.

right click the first thor, hold shift, right click the next thor, repeat for all thors. will that work?

if you want to make the medivac follow another unit without picking it up or using the scan-move command, why not just hit M and click the unit?

Unless following works differently for SCVs following thors than it does for SCVs following other SCVs (just tested it in quick start custom game vs. AI) it doesn't, unfortunately. It will just move to the first thor, then the second, then the third, and then follow the last one you shift clicked. I had the same misconception though; was this possible in BW or something? Why is this belief so widespread?

He wants to follow a GROUP of units, not a single unit. (hint for the slow people: if you follow a single unit that moves in a group, if he dies, the follower will have nothing to follow.)

And yer shift queue doesn't work(it just repairs first unit, 2nd, 3rd etc until at last unit it will additionally follow it). So nopes doesn't seem like you can follow a group(had hopes up for patrol ).

we're just trying to give alternatives since his actual idea doesn't work...
