Just wondering, because I know there are a ton of other players in my position with no team right now that consistently are beating players that are on these teams, and they, like myself, might be excluded simply because of not being on a team? Or is it still possible to be able to enter into this league?
How do you answer criticism that only allowing top players currently on teams sort of is a "keep the rich richer" 'exclusive' type of thing? I'll respond to this in depth. This league's success is highly dependent on us being able to adhere to a broadcast schedule. We need to have stuff playing every night. What happens when we let a random guy who's not in a team into the league: what if he does poorly and drops out? What if he's late every week and delays our broadcast? This ruins the league. Having players on teams adds accountability and responsibility. If a team contracts a player to uphold some degree of professionalism, there is a much higher chance that they'll do their job. We can't just "trust" that a player not on a team will do all these things. A team can fund the player's trip to the LAN final, and pay the entry fee. You have to realize, avilo, that this is much more than about simply playing the game well. There are many other factors to consider; we are looking at all of them, and you're only looking at the game. Requiring teams is a way to make sure that we will be able to run smoothly and professionally for the duration of the event. If you're good enough to beat the players in this league, you should get picked up by a team, or qualify through the open ! Isn't that why you have a $250 bond? Correct. We want multiple levels of accountability and professionalism, and this is a way to do it. Being on a team, paying a $250 security deposit.
Just out of curiosity would you guys consider letting a teamless player pay a much larger deposit (for example $2500) and view that as sufficient?

A prize? You get to the Top 16 to compete for $100,000, lulz~

What are the long-term (5+ years) strategy and goals of the NASL? Obviously it's to promote e-sports, but what's the plan past this year? How much of the prize money is being put up by sponsors? When does the NASL expect to break even?

Every single player in the league will have to do this!

Also, will the VoDs be edited down like they are for GSL so people who pay for the premium service don't have to sit through all the breaks/delays/etc that inevitably come up in a stream?
For example in the gcpl watching the VoDs on JustinTv involves spending a lot of time skipping around (often through completely silence or dead time) to find the actual games.

Maybe after this season

Hey guys... here's our business model O_O;;
Sorry I don't think I can answer this question.

Unlike the GSL, we will have no breaks/delays.

How long has the nasl been in the works?

yessss crack the slavewhip hard!
but I don't see tech problem delays being in the vods as a bad thing, the sudden jump with their removal would be disconcerting

2) We're thinking the venue will have 2,000 seats, and yes we will be having booths. The price to attend is not decided. We're going to be broadcasting every single game, unlike tournaments such as MLG that only cast 20% of the games played.
Just wondering why are you trying to take small shots at MLG. You have a "season" and MLG has a 3 day lan with a lot more then 50 players. So obviously you will be able to cast every game.

I'm not... I'm explaining why the NASL is different from other events.

Q: Will the replays be made available, either gratis like the ESL is doing or as part of the premium service?

Answered in FAQ. From now on I won't be answering:
- stuff that's answered already in the NASL.tv FAQ section - stuff that has already been answered in the thread.
!

I'm pretty sure that the iNcontroL interview on G4TV mentioned that replays will not be available since it would really mess with the vod views, subscriptions, etc.

What is the payout structure?
Is it 100k to first place and nothing for anyone else?
|
Thanks Xeris! This should settle a lot of confusion.

Duran, how do you keep your skin and hair in such great condition while staying so handsome?
Why have the prize money as 100/100/200 when you could just do 4x 100?
|
Sorry if this has been answered, but I know that high quality vods will be available for premium subscription. Will low quality vods be available for free, or are we forced to pay like the gsl.
