I dislike your rules related to "teams". Required team to apply, and no more then 5 people from a team. Splitting the teams up only helps those players on that team, and possibly hurts everyone else. While limiting them to 5 per team you sort of help that, but imo removing both outright would lead to a much more fair tourney overall. It is a solo tourney anyway. Other then that, I can't wait to see this big bad event in action!! A tourney I don't have to be awake for at 5 a.m. SOLD!

The 5 players per team rule is absolutely necessary because of the way the NASL has decided to structure the group stage to prevent coordinated losing, or at least allegations of such behavior. I don't know the specifics of how the group stage will be run (are they available? I'd be interested to read them), but consider the following: 5 groups of 10 players each, the top 3 advance. For the purposes of this discussion, let's say that TeamLiquid has 6 players competing, and that Jinro and HuK are in the same group.

The end of the group stage is approaching and Jinro is rolfstomping everyone, winning nearly every game he plays and has already guaranteed that he will win the group. HuK meanwhile, is sitting in 4th place, on the edge of qualifying for the finals. Jinro and HuK play 5 games towards the end of group play, and HuK wins all 5 very easily, despite struggling against Jinro earlier in the group stage. Here's the kicker: it wouldn't matter if Jinro lost intentionally or not (and there would be huge pressure for him to throw the games, both as a favor to his teammate and to appease his team and sponsors). There would be absolute OUTRAGE from the community, ESPECIALLY the player/team who lost his/their spot in the finals. If this kind of thing happened two or three times, it could ruin the league and drive sponsors away for good. Dealing with a few annoyed fans and teams is worth it to prevent this potential catastrophe.

Despite what the NASL has said about "increasing diversity," I think that preventing this conflict of interest is the primary motivation for the 5 per team limit.

will you guys have extended series?
I only make 5 actions per minute. But since I use all my time deliberating and planning, my 5 actions are so brutally devastating that children cry out and grown men weep.

Who is sponsoring all the prize money?

Are you considering taking in youtube commentators such as HD & Husky?

I still don't get why you've arbitrarily placed a limit on the number of players per team. Ultimately it will have very little meaning to the vast majority of people (to the point where no one would upset in the slightest if it were removed) but severely punish a small handful of players.

Why not make an amateur league such as the Code A for GSL? Obviously this is not GSL, and I don't mean make the system the same, but why only have one division, with no qualifying division or 'lesser' league.

Also I'd like to add a comment about our stream.

Note: the quality of GSL's high quality paid stream is 650 kb/sec .

Our free stream is going to be at 800 kb/sec, our paid stream will be 3 megabit / sec. We're offering much better stream quality than any other tournament can give you!

It's not arbitrary. 5 divisions, 5 max players per team. So each team can theoretically have 1 player per division.

What will the time schedule be? Not the dates but the actual time because alot of people including me won't be happy if it overlaps the Day[9] Daily. (Day[9] not being the main reason of course)

Question: Are you at all afraid that making the majority of the tournament (the online part + 15/16 for the finals) reduces its credibility and/or appeal? Are you considering qualifiers for at least some of the online spots for future seasons, or other changes in rules?

I understand why the decision was made (the logistics of holding open qualifiers for the online tournament, the draw recognizable names have with more casual fans, and presumably a need to have an impressive line of invites lined up to attain sponsors), and don't necessarily disagree with it, but it also devalues the tournament from players point of view when they are passed over for people chosen based off more arbitrary criteria like name recognition and percieved skill rather than actual qualifiers, especially in a game still somewhat in its volatile infancy. I've seen several semi-pro/unknown top-200 players complaining about this on several forums. Was this a buisness-decision, or would you choose this format even if sponsors/viewers were guaranteed regardless?

Contrast this with the way GSL handled things, starting with open tournaments to give unknown players the chance to prove themselves, while simultaneously acting as qualifiers for GSL 4 and on. All of the first three seasons as well as Code A and qualifiers this year have had unknown or underrestimated players impress and earning recognition, which for me personally at least has been a big draw of the league. Of course, the situation was different at the time of GSL 1 since the game was only recently released and players had little opportunity to show their skill or earn recognition in time for the start of the tournament, but they also had the self-imposed limit of on-location qualifiers, while any hypothetical qualifiers for the NASL online stage could be done online as well.

Good luck anyway, I know I will be watching!

This is my main concern and you state it perfectly, thank you i have been trying to express these concerns but you have done it very accurately thanks ^^

All I have to say about that is every stream service has problems with people. Nothing works perfectly for everyone. We're going with Justin.tv

Roughly speaking, by what measure would you deem the NASL a success (or a failure for that matter)?

Q: How do you feel the rule of five players per team will influence the StarCraft scene? Do you think we'll see players leaving larger teams to get a shot at the NASL?

Q: How much non-game content (interviews, features, tips, etc.) are you planning to include in each show?

Q: Many StarCraft fans watch the GSL on a daily basis, but the NASL will be competing - if not directly then indirectly - for their time. Some, like myself, have a limited amount of time to watch StarCraft. Do you see the NASL as something to replace the GSL or as a supplement for fans that want more?

Q: Any plans to make merchandise available? Team and league shirts, jackets, hats, mousepads and the like seem like a good move.
