That's more so just used as a template, if you add any translucency to the image, anything behind it will still appear blue. This is what I use, but keep in mind it's dimensions are 1500 x 808 for the home background. You'll still have to resize it if you want it to fit quickmatch race backgrounds, as well as adding the fade effects to terran/zerg because of the annoying offsets on the left.

This file is in .psd format for anyone interested in downloading it, by the way. You'll need photoshop to use it. It has the bars on the top and bottom on a separate layer in case you want them to overlay etc.

Thank you I was going crazy trying to get my hands on that.

i did it, changed almost all pics and I LOVE IT ! its sow awesome to have a pic behind the score-screen etc.
thanx for sharing it, lets just hope no one gets suspended for it ;D

I changed everything, even startup image. Looks way better now.
Anybody know why .dds looks in photoshop brighter or just strange. Or it's just me?

When I extract the battle.net.mpq, a folder gets created (Battle.net), and this is where the "Shared" Folder is located. So far so good.
I replace the dds file I want. Check.
But then, how do I turn the folder that was created, back into the battle.net.mpq file? Download dropMPQ. It'll repack the folder into an MPQ file.

Nvidia plugin is ok, if you use right options. Just set to "DXT5 - ARGB - (Interpolated Alpha)" option, and it will be ok

I've tried playing around with other settings also but nothing seems to get it working. What version of photoshop do you use, and is it x32 or x64?

Just made an example. The first image is an interpolated alpha dds file saved using paint.net, the second using photoshop with the nvidia plug-in. Both are definitely interpolated. The only solution I can come up with is the fact that nvidia only made their plug-in compatible with x64 versions of photoshop a few weeks ago after many years, and there could still be some compatibility bug of some sort.

Thank you Teliko for the work you are doing here.

You need to specify which screen you want that for.
Also, the image is far too small. It's usable of course, but it'll be really blurry when enlarged to the correct size.

I found a bigger image of what he wanted using TinEye, but yeah, don't expect someone to do this for you until you can give full details of your request.

+ Show Spoiler + These little zerg and terran signs around starcraft logo. I was too lazy too add them to animation but they're visible most of time even during that.

Ahhh!! I'm having serious trouble with this. So I made my own dds files or whatever they're called, and I set them all up properly using the resolutions described in the OP's tutorial... But the Quick Match Zerg/Terran pictures don't exactly fit. The pictures cut off on the left side of the menu. I'm not having this problem with the Protoss/Random menus.

I'm not having this problem with the Protoss/Random menus, however. I tried increasing the resolution on the Z/T pictures by about 33% (keeping the same ratio), but that didn't do much at all. Any advice?

Any advice? This has been explained many times. The offsets for the Terran and Zerg pictures are slightly more to the right of the screen. You don't notice this with the default pictures because they fade into the background. There's no way around this other than to fade out the picture on the left hand side.

Yes!! Thank you, I saw this in the other posts. This might sound kind of silly, but how do I create the fade effect others have using Paint.NET?
EDIT: Please forgive me if this has been explained as well. I've read posts of people talking about it, but not in terms simple enough for me to understand. Thank you so much!

I wouldn't really know because I don't use paint.net for the gradients, but after looking around google, it seems to you need use this plug-in to apply alpha mask layers. If it doesn't do the trick, just search around google. A solution will be there somewhere.
