ESL has their own 1v1 ladder. So no, trust me if it was Blizz using them there would be a post for that instead lol!

hope this happens for US and other regions as well (since you only mentioned EU). I like the Pawn map, although I haven't tried testbug yet.

Both GSL and ESL using custom maps is awesome.

I haven't played these 2 maps yet but the maps that GSL is considering to use are awesome. Playing on those maps makes you feel that bad players will be kicked out of the tournament and that the good players will have a blast. Resulting in epic matches 24/7.

EDIT: When I get home I will be playing on these maps! Testbug looks nice.

Make a badlands tileset version of testbug or something. Part of the appeal of SC to me was always the plausibility (yes, in spite of the sci fi stuff), and the weird magical tileset quadrants are too weird, IMO.

Adding custom maps is a great idea. But why not taking the maps that are going to be used in the GSL? I'm not sure everyone using different custom maps is a very good idea...

I have played on both maps before. I really liked Testbug, whereas Pawn (not sure if the Re was already there) seemed to have way too many chokes and it was basically impossible to do anything against P.

Personally I think a good player should be able to "wing it" on every map compared to having a fixed build order for map A and another for map B and so on. All they should need is knowledge of the general layout of the map.

Having more variety in the game is very good and only enhances the viewability of the game, because you can be surprised more often. Scrap Station is a decent map and can have awesome games played on it, but after almost a year of seeing games on it we have kinda "seen it all" and a more new maps is good. The same is true for all other maps.
If you cant say what you're meaning, you can never mean what you're saying.

I just played some games on these maps to test them.

Played one game on "iccup pawn re". This map seems a little bit dark. Design is okay. I am a little bit worried about siege tanks hitting my natural but so far this didn't occur...

Played several games on "iccup testbug". I personally don't like different styles used in one map. Also i am not the biggest fan of rich geysirs. But the design and size of the map is awesome. had many great games on it and can't wait seeing professional gamer fighting on this map :D

I'm still worried. It's really bad if a lot of tournaments use custom maps but the ladder is still with the old blizzard maps.

On the other hand Testbug looks a little TOO wide and open. especially if the rocks in the center are down - which have surprisingly low hp. I think if they had a lot hp, so that you just can tear them down later in the game (with a 150 food army or so) it would be OK, but as a Protoss, I don't know how to place my forcefields there in the midgame.

Well then the attention of the Progamers will shift more towards Cgs and Ladder will be used less unless Blizzard overhauls the map pool. This could also have the positive side effect that we will see more specialised strategies for certain maps that might bring a surprise effect instead of the repititio ad infinitum that we currently see on Xel Naga etc. What I hope is that the new map pool will be more rewarding those players that combine solid mechanics with a decent strategical sense instead of those who can pull off very tricky all ins or 4 gates.
