If Blizzard responds to ICCUP's success by making maps better than ICCUP's, don't we all win? Why the frown?

Exactly what I thought! The ICCup team is doing everything to make StarCraft 2 best playable, everything for the game, if their maps got surpassed by new Blizzard maps (which is unlikely :p) I'm sure they would be happy about it, not sad.

Blizzard needs to put those maps into the Ladderpool, because otherwise no one will train them basically... which would suck. T.T

Trust me, very few pros (at least in NA) are using the ladder for practice anyways. Most have already switched to customs for practice.

Pros aren't the only people out there ;(. Guys like ESL/Craftcup do an awesome job for the non-pro players to get some competition. Ladder is an important part for them.

That seems kind of doubtful. I mean, even TSL3 is going to use old ladder maps, no? Of course you wouldn't just say this for no reason, but I just don't understand the motivation behind it. Unless they really strongly believe that there's going to be huge changes in the map pool soon.

There's been no mention of the maps for TSL3, only the TLOpens.

WCG and iCCup changes their map pool way slower compared to the KeSPA lineup for OSL, MSL, and Proleague.
Eventually, certain maps will emerge to be so good that it is almost impossible not to use them for a tournament. Destination and Match Point come to mind. Right now, we are in the early stages of adopting custom maps for SC2, and the more maps we test and filter out, the better.
Also, I think I heard from somewhere that Gisado from GOM initially checked out some of the iCCup maps but wasn't convinced that they were good enough to be used for the Korean games.
Nevertheless, it's great to see the SC2 scene look more and more like the BW scene. Custom maps being adopted AND GSL adding a Proleague system? It's almost too good to be true.

No no I mean custom games, not custom maps. I'm saying most pros do not ladder anymore, the last Top 200 really shows that.

Link? Source? Because I have never heard that before...

Really good that we finally start using some custom maps. Not fan of Pawn though...

I guess he considered the maps, but obviously didn't end up using them. It's a shame too, since the iCCup maps are definitely strong contenders compared to the Korean maps.

Oh ok. If he searched for them on the Korean B.net, that would explain it, as the maps are not there 0.o! But soon they will be on the KOR server.

i don't think blizz puts the maps on ladder and i don't see any problems with it. special channels for training and custom games all the way baby. i've never been around for the original bn ladder in sc:bw but wasn't it the same? maps weren't updated and were crap and then people started making better maps and players stopped playing ladder (+ hacks on ladder
|
I agree, Blizzard won't put these maps on the ladder. They haven't done so in the past and they already said they want a variety of different maps on their ladder that are not too complicated (so obviously noobfriendly, whatever that means for Blizzard). But now that we have chat channels, it's no problem whatsoever to organize custom games for training. And for pros it's obviously least problematic since they mostly have training partners/team members.

It's nice to see ICCup maps getting some use in tournaments. I've seen some of them used in the US CSL rounds as well.

This is like a patch with major changes, and it pleases everyone. The maps looks awesome, thank you ICCup makers for your patience and willingness to push this forth for us <3

Testbug is right now on the first page in the 1v1 section on Europe. You can find an opponent very quickly and not necessarily through a channel.
