If u saw the screenshot in the 1.2.0 ptr thread then it says Grand Master League is top 200 of each region. Master league is below that.

I hope grand master / master leagues merge into one division (with grand masters being the top 200 and masters being the rest). That division should have ALL the players in it (not only a 100). I think the vast majority of these top tier players want to see their real ranking instead of local / division ranking.
There are a lot of divisions that are not listed, so here is how i would "guess" their modifier:
1) by win %
+ Show Spoiler + If your division is listed in the top 100 (with most avg points), order by AVG wins: http://www.sc2ranks.com/div/us/diamond/1/points/0#ratio:0There is a pattern here: Divisions with win % above ~ 53.50% (S-rank) Divisions with win % at 52.61% ~ 53.50% (A or B-rank) Divisions with win % at 52.50% ~ 52.61% (C-rank) Divisions with win % at 52.50% ~ 52.33% (D-rank) Divisions with win % below ~ 52.33% (E-rank) Seems to work in most cases, but of course, there are exceptions. OBS: The more games your division has, the more accurate this might be. For divisions with less than 200 games (avg) this seems not to work at all
2) Check win/loss points and compare
+ Show Spoiler +Everytime you win or lose a game, check if you are even / favored / not favored against your opponent and check his points. If his division modifiers is known, you can guess yours.
For example, if you are "teams even" against someone from "Ehlna Bravo" (C-RANK) and you have more points than him, your division might be lower and vice versa.
Since we are matched with our MMR, this isnt entirely true, but it could work.

I remember watching a blizzcon panel cast and master league is 2% of the Diamond players. To me, that number seems very low. Maybe they meant 2% of the active players?

Should be top 5% of Diamond, which would equate to top 1% overall.

This week top 200 LA has, again shown that some players don't make the cut, even though they have enough points.
I am pretty sure that my theory of a MMR cut for the top 200, before points, is the reason.

There's a lot others that could be at last last spot (they have enough points), but didn't make it. So I have no doubt about an extra requirement. And I am pretty sure it is some MMR related one.

A Rank S division player with lots of points (2291), enough for top 20, but not on the list!

Might not be MMR fault, but there is at least 1 requirement blocking this people from top 200. Probably the same requirement that will be in place for being in master league next season.

That would kind of ruin the point of having a comparable system if you still sectioned it thought, but I don't feel like getting PTR right now to check.

This sounds ridiculous. You have 5 placement matches that decide which division you get placed into. That alone decides whether or not you will ever make top 200?
Aren't points alone supposed to represent your skill level? Why do I need to be 300 points higher than someone else to show up on a list?
Edit: or... am I sitting on 300 artificial points? I'm having trouble understanding.

If you are in a lower league, you need to have more points in order to beat out another person for the top 200 because you are infact sitting on points based on your league.
