Though I don't play Protoss, it was somewhat disappointing to see nothing on improving PvT, where Terrans seem to have an advantage."
what a cocksocker. He obviusly said that the terran had the advantage over protoss just because he want to see terran nerfs. And the trust is, yes early game is favored to terran BUT mid / lategame is dominated by protoss. Colossi and psi storm is such a money-maker if in the right hands. And nowdays the protoss has started to throw in alot of phenixes in their army to prevent vikings killing collosi + preventing drops. Because arguably the best Zerg player in the world is totally just a QQer who can't be trusted to comment on a matchup he'll never have to play for money. Your reasoning is a little off, there. So? Cool's statement is rediculous nonetheless. There is not much you can do against a good Toss. Protoss is just in such a huge advantage when collosus are out. Before that, yeah Terran is in the advantage.
Why cant people realize that there is a balance in the fact that Terran has an advantage in the early/pre-mid game while protoss has the advantage in the post-mid/late game. Essentially, Terran has to make sure Protoss doesn't get too many expansions.

WHAT! nooo tester you did not just say that

Brood Lords are terrible. They're expensive and take too long to tech too. Terrans can just switch to Vikings and instantly snipe them. Although, they're not bad versus mass Thors.

Brood Lords are not a bad unit, just that vikings are too fucking good. Terran has a lot of units I would argue might be overpowered but Vikings certainly are not one of them.
It's a combination of things. Vikings are really good at killing Brood Lords. Brood Lords move at a glacial pace, take forever to make and are extremely expensive. They are pretty easy to kill due to their speed and the health nerf. If the Zerg tries to be agressive with them they can be sniped by Marines and Terran can pump Vikings really fast from a reactored Starport. The end result being they rarely pay off so you don't see people making them anymore. It seems like the only time you see them now is when the game is already won and the Zerg decides to go with Brood Lords to administer the coup de grace. If Hydras were a bit better things might be different but its pretty much impossible for the Zerg to protect them. Mutas will get chewed up by Thors and Marines due to their short range and Corruptors don't do enough damage to protect them. I'm not sure the answer is to nerf Vikings but there is a problem with the dynamics of the matchup right now.

I am a zerg player and I think that the changes will maybe go a little too far. I'm not sure that we'll see reapers anymore and it really doesn't make sense to me to have a unit in the game that is not used. I remember that was what it was like on the beta before reapers were shown some love. And depot before barracks? Doesn't really make sense to me, it has never been this way. It just seems like a very heavy-handed way of dealing with a problem. I dunno though, never judge it before it goes live as people will always come up with some neat little strategies and tricks.

@grond: I find it strange that you are arguing that it's hard to protect Broodlords against Vikings and Marines since I think that's not the situation where you should go for Broodlords in the first place. Right now I see no reason at all to make any changes to the stats of any of the units you mentioned. Maybe a slight build time decrease for the greater spire might be good but that's about it. Since it has been a lot easier to get to Ultras I don't think this change is necessary right now, though.

If you nerf vikings TvP will be completely broken.

it just got to me... I hope they don't make the +roach range as an upgrade like hydra's...

Q. Which units do you think need buffs in the Zerg arsenal? A. Brood Lords. Right now Brood Lords die too easily, are very hard to tech up to, and don't have much impact even if they do come out. I'm not at all fond of both Brood Lords and Ultralisks, but the Ultralisk is the only unit that has any viability in the higher tech levels of the Zerg tree.
Thanks for these interviews! I think, although I play Protoss/Terran that these are good changes, even the supply before racks isn't that bad. Cools comment about BroodLords needing a buff is semi retarded tho, especially coming from a high level player. Is he serious? Because it has to be a joke, the range on BroodLords is plenty and with ground support it's almost impossible to get near the damn things without taking plenty of free hits on the way, with HP increases they would be ridiculous. Granted, they do take a while to tech to but they are, in many cases, gg when they are out in numbers.

I actually hope it does. Alot of people are saying hellion builds will still be usefull. But they wont i think. With 4 range roaches and 5 range hellions you won't be able to kite them because you have to stop everytime you shoot.

that would make six pooling a few extra seconds longer and easier to defend .. now that protosszealot timing is nerfed . and now that zerg dont have to worry about 1 reaper to stop it. or.. fast rax to counter the pool.
Since you have to lose a drone to destroy a building, the cost of all 3 will now be 250 minerals lost before you can make your bread and butter unit, ling/lot/marine. 50 for drone 200 for pool, 100 pylon 150 gateway, 100 depot 150 rax

I'm suprised cool considers BL's up. Vikings are supposed to counter them. Most people go corrupter/bl and thats the real problem.

Yea...BLs are already really powerful against Protoss, since Protoss doesn't really have that reliable of a response against them. I understand that they're really underwhelming against Terran because of Vikings though... Personally, I feel that BLs just sort of lost their niche as Zerg's pivotal T3 unit since ultras gained popularity, but they should still be plenty powerful in ZvP. I'm really surprised at all of their impassivity about roach range increase though...seems like a pretty big change to me but hey, they know better x]

Honestly this patch is kind of weird. Why screw with early game balance, when you can just put a cooldown on MULEs? I'd much rather have that and feel it'd be way more balanced than the current depot->rax, as a rabid zerg user.
EDIT: Brood Lords are laughable right now, they really need a buff vs. T. Not sure how that would impact vs. P, though...luckily I'm not paid to make balance decisions.

I think the reason zerg players are overjoyed is cause they can 6 pool all they want now

I'm skeptical of this patch. As a zerg user, i'm happy zerg is getting buffed (yeah, I'm completely biased) but I'm not sure that this was really the way to do it. Maybe I haven't played against enough proxy reaper to really hate it, but that doesn't seem like the problem to me. What about Hydras? What about repairing scv target priority? What about thors slaughtering roaches for cost? We'll see, we'll see.

Nah, we zerg players don't like to give our opponents free wins
