It's a good change but they should probably have solved it in another way imo. I think it's the best thing they've done for a long time. Yes Terran is going to need some late game buffs pretty soon and *somehow* they need to make the multi-tasking tougher. But I'm definitely not dissapointed by the supply before rax change. As a viewer I don't enjoy seeing 2 minute games as a result of cheese. Yes they could look at making 6pool worse too.

For Protoss to proxy gate, they need to build a pylon...

From Cool: "Q. The 1.2 patch preview is out. The Zerg race will be getting a lot of buffs, I hear? A. Yes, I was glad to hear that. I'm not sure how the patch will affect gameplay, and I don't want to make any conclusions until it is actually out. Though I don't play Protoss, it was somewhat disappointing to see nothing on improving PvT, where Terrans seem to have an advantage."
what a cocksocker. He obviusly said that the terran had the advantage over protoss just because he want to see terran nerfs. And the trust is, yes early game is favored to terran BUT mid / lategame is dominated by protoss. Colossi and psi storm is such a money-maker if in the right hands. And nowdays the protoss has started to throw in alot of phenixes in their army to prevent vikings killing collosi + preventing drops.

He thinks PvZ is worse for Zerg than TvZ, so that would be curious reasoning from him.
Depot change is interesting. I can be pretty greedy in pvt now.

You're way off and sound really silly. He was quoted multiple times during the GSL saying he only thought he could win if he faced Terran since he didn't think he could beat top Protoss players. The general feel in Korea is that Protoss is OP.

Now they still shoot back even if they're trapped.
yeah, it's not about 1 FF trapping ranged units, it's creating a trap using multiple FF's, like if you FF behind, left and right, then FF the front while overlapping the units trapped inbetween, it would freak out the units in there, and they'd just spin around in circles, unable to shoot, it made FF much stronger because you could isolate units and completely crush them. Now units will just get pushed out of the wall in.

Terran has a lot of units I would argue might be overpowered but Vikings certainly are not one of them.

Funny that Cool mentioned brood lords as needing a buff but not mentioning hydras. I don't remember him ever building a single hydra.

you mean you can't just harass someone to death anymore? Well shit, looks like you should look into a defensive FE build order then...sucks you gotta you know...adapt...

He used them.
And lost miserably.
Most zerg players see Hydra as a Reaper now..
Low hp, low survivability, high damage, 50 gas, 2 supply

Exactly, but the terran build discovered in beta, known as 1-1-1 shut down BL hard, it was more of a build order switch rather than the slow 9 range viking's power against armored air units. Sadly you need an escort for all massive air units due to their speed and slow build times untill a point where they can defend themselves.

I really don't like the 1.5 creep speed multiplier solution on the hydra.
Hydralisk 2.25 speed, multiplier 150%, 3.38 on creep Roach 2.25 speed, 3.00 upgraded, multiplier 130%, 2.93 on creep, 3.90 on creep with upgrade

depot before rax sounds like a horrible idea. if enough people complain, can we get rid of 6 pool?
|
I honestly don't see the big deal about the Depot before Rax.. You have to build a pylon before a gateway, you have to have a drone for a pool.. both for a total of 250 minerals before you can produce your first ling/lot. So Terran will be at the same point, 100 for depot, 150 for Rax. All races will have to invest 250 minerals at whatever pace you want to build a military unit. I know I'm a noob but it seems pretty simple to me.

Always nice to get expert opinions, thanks for the translation OP.
I'm very concerned about depot before rax, feel that it will eliminate a lot of the diversity of strategy that Terrans enjoyed in BW's very-early-game.

So.. protoss players can proxy gate, zerg players can 6 pool, but its out of the question if terrans want to proxy rax huh.
The reaper will be dead, hellion harassment will get harder with roach range, and its basically given now that every zerg player can take a 14 hatch without any worry. Looks like much of the units that terran has to micro, and actually require an ounce of skill to use, are going to get the nerf-bat.. thats cool, everyone complains about how "terran doesn't have to micro," yet nerfs like this happen? wat?
It seems to me like every zerg player who's QQ went into this patch want to dominate early game, mid game, and late game, while maintaining the edge in both defense and offense. Sounds like a good patch to me..
Protoss still needs a pylon to proxy gate hur hur

As the poster above noted, it's now equal resources for everyone to get to their first military unit. Depot first might seem horribly expensive/slow, yet it's exactly the same as the other cheeses.

everybody is subjective.. will you ever get that? whats the point in flaming cool now and all this stupid discussion that carries on and on and on.. for more than a month im reading the same shit over and over, doesnt matter what blizzard does, what a pro says, who wins a tourney, everybody is bitching and complaining no matter what race. the official blizz sc2 forums are so incredibly dumb, when i read more than 3 comments in there im so angry that i have to immediately quit the site in order not to make a ragepost. please do not let this forum get the same.

Sure, the moment when your reaper harass fails you instant lose it gets removed aswell. Atm, you can do a very fast reaper harass and still not be destroyed when it fails, 6pool cant, atleast not with the current small maps.
