I can't imagine this will go without being changed. Even if they had some intention of it functioning that way, it looks ridiculous. I really think zerg need something to help them out. I don't know if this is it, though. And it's not that i think PF should be super easy to defend. That splash just looks stupid.

That terran, like almost every other one, had NO army there to protect his GOLD EXPANSION.

He's just like "lul, i can repair this thing forever, just make some turrets to stop muta and I'm all good.

Jesus, this is not OP. This just makes ultra finally actually good in base destruction.

Ofc you should not be able to repair units the ultralisk is attacking, thats retarded. The repair ability is too powerfull as it is, and now it has a counter, live with it.
Seeing as I play Zerg, I don'thave to live with it.

And no, Terrans should be able to repair a factory/barracks/starport/CC/whatnot that's being attacked from the other side without it meaning SCV death in 1.5 seconds. I agree that repair is absurdly strong at the moment, but the answer is nerfing repair rates, not making Ultra's damage everything is a radius 5-6x the size of the ultra itself. And what, might I ask, Protoss players supposed to do against mass repair PF?

I just did this on a nexus and killed a ton of probes.

It was awesome. BCs can attack air and ground. Carriers can as well. Ultras need something awesome to make up for how non-versatile they are.

Yes, I must to continue to harvest the blue crystals in my backyard.

But basically as countless peeps have mentioned, this fix, without questioning whether or not its balanced or not, is simply ridiculous looking and doesn't make any sense in this game's engine.

Obviously a lot of you Zerg players are going BAH OF COURSE THIS IS AWESOME AND NEEDED, but that's simply because you feel like just desserts are being served as terrans finally get nerfed so they have no right to complain. However, what you fail to see is that the game with bizarre mechanics is stepping away from what it should be.

A simple, balanced, easy to understand, and hard to master game. We don't need gimmicks.

This has to be the as it was intended, this is such an obvious consequence of the patch that Blizzard would have to be the least competent developers ever to have missed it.

I do think the splash radius is a bit big though. When attacking buildings the splash should only hit units directly adjacent to the building (all repairing SCVs or buildings directly against the PF, but not mining SCVs or the turret in the video).

It seems plausible to me that a massive monster tearing through a building would send metal shrapnel all over the place, damaging other things around it.

Most of your are forgetting this not only works on PF's, if an ultra attack any main base of any race then you cant send any melee unit to it without takeing dmg.. even range units will have to move arround and not get close to not take dmg.

While I may not agree with ultralisk splash originating from a unit and going 2 radius out (blizzard confirm?), it is certainly a change of pace to hear terrans complaining instead of zerg.

Yes, because the Nexus was OP.

Even tho I know this going to be fixed soon, it does make me laugh for the present. Pretty funny when things like this happen, so long as they don't last too long. xD

Blizzard has tried for a long time to make zerg balanced in a "sensical" way. Why not give zerg a break and let them have one thing like this?

God forbid the terran make a OC, and LIFT OFF when they see an ultralisk. But that would require too much APM i guess >__>

I think this so called "bug" will help late game zerg, as the attack priority on SCVs is ridiculously low. Now expansions are snipable as zerg even if it has a PF.

If this gets fixed, then the tank splash damage should get fixed as well? Doesn't seem fair that only the PF gets special treatment and not the ridiculous splash damage that tanks get on large units.

tanks have the same splash on large units and on small. In fact, large units fare better.
